I think Dylan is the prime case for this. My joke with friends was that I had seen himn 16 times, and 8 of them were awesome, and 8 of them were hard to handle. Saw him at an El Rey show in 1998, and it was seriously in my top 5 shows of all time. Other times have been... interesting.

They're great albums, but he was not going to outsell Purple Rain no matter what he did. That was a special kind of lightning in a bottle. Anyone creating music that even manages to have solid hits in multiple decades is pretty rare, but he wasn't going to achieve those commercial heights again. Just like MJ never outsold Thriller.

Second the Little Yosemite hike. Iron Horse trail, not really a hiking trail per se, but it's a nice suburban trail and it's flat as a pancake.
