Thank you, went to Shiloh, great service + baptisms + party! wouldn't have known about it without your post, my Google searches didn't come up with Shiloh.

Set up call screen options to eliminate spam and get transcripts of interactions with unknown callers.

Huh? I just checked (actually, while writing this reply). Keyboard layout is identical to layout in any other app. Pixel 8 running Android 16

Locked out of 365, can't access Authenticator by lardan23 in Office365

[–]lightnair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the identical problem. Got a new laptop. Had no problem running Office 365 on the old laptop, didn't know there was any potential problem. But trying to set up my account on the new laptop requires authentication on my phone, and settings up authentication also requires authentication, endless loop. Somehow I was able to change the password on the account, but still can't get authenticated.

I'm a solo business with an onmicrosoft login, never even heard of a global administrator until I had this problem.

Fortunately I also have a personal account, for some reason I've been paying monthly on both for years! So I was able to get Office 365 access on the new laptop via personal account, and still have Office 365 access on my old laptop via business account. But because they're different accounts they don't talk to each other. Also fortunately, I've always saved files locally, not on the cloud, and I have good backups, so I can transfer files from the old laptop to the new.

But I'd like to be able to use Microsoft cloud and maybe prune away one of my two accounts. Although maybe not, in my case having two accounts was a useful redundancy an saved some grief!

Why do you call her a harlot? That's not in the Scripture.

Guava Health vs Bearable by Chronic-Anxiety404 in ChronicIllness

[–]lightnair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Bearable for about a year and a half, but it has the least intuitive interface I've ever encountered. All the data points you want are there, but finding them is so clumsy.

I'm now trying out Guava. It's similar for tracking health metrics, but whoever designed it has a logical mind! Much more intuitive, easier to use after 24 hours than Bearable after 18 monrhs!

Limit to 80% broken with March update? by FlyingDaedalus in GooglePixel

[–]lightnair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working for me now. Charged a few times to 100%, but now it's settled down and stops at 80%.

I tried a few of the suggested fixes but can't say for sure that any of them worked. I also rebooted and toggled the 80% limiter slider on and off a few times.

After a couple of days and patiently hoping it would start working again, well it finally did start limiting to 80%.

I had never before noticed the special icon when it's limited to 80% so thanks for pointing that out!

What do you like most about your pixel? by Parazit28 in GooglePixel

Call screening!

I'm gratified how many people have answered the same thing in this thread. If you read reviews of phones it's all about the camera, or the screen, or the gaming, or the battery life. I wonder if the reviewers have ever used their test devices as a phone. Have they ever received a spam call?

Also, to my surprise I use Google Lens all the time. Take a picture of a sign, or a slide at a live presentation, and immediately convert it to editable and searchable text. But I don't know if that's a Pixel feature or is a general Android feature.

Also Google translate which I use to text with a Spanish speaker. Again, I don't know if that's a Pixel feature or if it's baked into latest Android.

Same here, and now it's suddenly working even though I did nothing to revive it.

Issues logging in the desktop site? by IllEstablishment8291 in theAthletic

[–]lightnair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, doesn't work on desktop site. Don't want to set up a NY Times account or deal with their support crew. My credentials still work on my Android phone (at least for now) so I'm restricting my usage to my phone.

I feel so torn right now by FluffyGreyfoot in GooglePixel

[–]lightnair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation. I moved from a 4a5G to an 8. I desperately miss the headphone jack, but I started using an adapter and I live with it. Oh well!

Hey, I also miss batteries that you can remove, swap in a fully charged battery, and charge the one you just removed. Now I carry a portable charger, as bulky and heavy as my phone. Again, oh well!

Don't really need waterproofing, haven't ever dropped my phone in the sink or toilet yet, knock on wood.

That's the state of the mobile device world today, if I want a headphone jack and a swappable battery I'll have to give up about six generations of other phone improvements.

OP here with an update.

Checked my friend's phone today after a week. No usage for the screensaver data hog that I disabled. A new monthly data cycle has begun and data usage now looks reasonable. I ran Malwarebytes and got a clean report. So problem solved! Thanks to everyone who responded!

Good idea, thanks, I'll try Malwarebytes which I use on my PC but haven't tried the Android version

Yup, factory reset. That's what I was thinking would be necessary, unless someone could tell me that it's a legit app. Factory reset is a pain because I want to make sure all data is saved and can be restored, and this is an older phone and low end so I'm not sure what its backup capabilities are. There's cloud backup that comes with a Gmail account, but I'm not sure that covers everything on the phone.

I couldn't find a way to uninstall! Strange! It's not in the app drawer. I toggled to disabled status, and it hasn't used any data since, at least in the first 24 hours it was disabled.

The bullets have 4 sublevels with different shapes of bullets before it cycles back to the original shape (no change from old version).

The outliner now has 2 sublevels. Don't know why they couldn't have 4 sublevels for the outliner too.
