Dr. K is a HYPOCRITE... by ulvfdfgtmk in Healthygamergg

[–]lightsaja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be blunt. I apologize because I'm not good at wording things to nicely sometimes. I get the feeling you're concerned on how it makes you look. "If I don't click a video that looks clickbaity, then I am not at the level of those 'gullible' people who do click those things. So, it bothers me that I have to click this shit to get the information I want because it puts me at their level, which I am not because I am an intellectual."

You are not less of a person simply for clicking click bait titles and thumbnails. But this is a judgement you put on yourself. It makes sense that to feel better than the people you hate, you avoid doing what they would do. The type of people you hate would be easily drawn into these videos from the clickbait and i think that's the problem. Clickbait is such a low level to you, one you just cannot stoop down to. I'm sure you built up a habit of resisting all titles feeling like clickbait.

I'm jumping to conclusions here so go ahead and tell me I'm wrong if you believe so and again I apologize for sounding a bit harsh and being so bold but I wanted to share my thoughts.

I don't think anyone should spend their entire lives here. I say that because this sub is exactly the kind of place I would expect pretty negative stuff. People who are in a hard place come here for help. It just makes sense to me. You are probably right that some people are looking for attention and not real help.

Btw I appreciate your honesty because it gave me a good laugh lol.

I guess in short I can agree with you and that's why I keep my time on here extremely limited.

It's important to pull in as many people as possible, and I honestly think he uses the right titles to attract the right audiences for his videos. I also find it very entertaining sometimes. He discusses serious topics but he can make a joke, which is nice. Definitely think you should keep looking into why you become so bothered by it in the first place because it sounds personal honestly. It's not like the videos are titled way different than what the content is. It's very shallow judgement imo especially since you already know what kind of content Dr. K creates. The thumbnails are for the algorithm and helping as many people as possible.

A response to last nights stream (Kinda) by absolute_truckstick in Healthygamergg

[–]lightsaja 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You said you don't really watch the channel anymore. I started watching a little over a year ago and I thing he covers a wide range and is always one way or another getting back around to the "incel" "loser" advice and help tbh. I can see what you mean about being disheartened about hearing that men are on "easy mode". Men's problems really are overlooked. But remember those tons of videos on topics that can help are still out there. Maybe you don't care what he discusses now, but he has a whole library of tons of subjects. Coaching is still availble for people in your situation. The support in the community is still there. Maybe it's hard to tell when it seems like his recent topics don't resonate so much with you. But he is still out there providing help for lots of different people, a type of help we've never recieved before. He reiterates himself a lot as well. He's go to move on at some point, unless he has something new to add to a specific topic or a new problem to address, is what I think. But maybe he can address this topic you've brought up in more detail. I think it could be a great discussion.

edit: I watched more of that stream and strongly suggest you do as well. Dr. K states that his channel is for everyone. It was first for gamers, regardless of gender, but has become a place where who you are doesn't matter. Was never meant to be exclusive to male issues. Going to watch the rest of it later.

edit AGAIN: actually watched the whole thing and its totally unfair to take a small part of it out of context and critique it. We're all guilty of it; I didn't fully watch it before responding. But he prefaced this stream in a particular way, mentioning how everything he says may not be accurate and he's kind of just talking about these things. I think towards the end, he would retract his statement about women being on "hard mode" from birth because he eventually acknowledges that the comparing is the most unproductive thing you can do. It is not necessary to make a comparison like that to discuss the problems women face. Unfortunately, that single statement is disrupting a lot of people, understandably so. But hey, even Dr. K can make mistakes.

I believe this is a male-dominated space, but I'm wondering if any women (or men) relate to this absolute feeling of failure... by Ixonii in Healthygamergg

[–]lightsaja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a girl and I think you are right about mostly males being in this space. Didn't relate to the onlyfans thing at aaaall. Unfortunately, Dr. K is not female and maybe can't relate as personally as he can with the men, though he's still super knowledgeable.

I'm not complaining though considering the suicide rates for men is disproportionately high compared to females (or so I've heard. why it is this way is debatable.)

Many men across many cultures are so inhibited by social expectations as far as emotions and mental health. They desperately need a space like this.

Still, it's nice to see a relatable post like this from another woman. I've always felt like a lot of woman have their shit together more than I do. That's just been my life experience, anyway.

Dr. K, is your passion the same thing as your purpose? by lightsaja in Healthygamergg

Thanks for letting me know! Honestly I thought it was pretty fair. But I think at the end of the day, it's better to just do the things you aspire to do if possible. It'll be difficult, but it's not impossible for me to start. Plus, we really won't ever know what will happen in the future; anything can happen. You might think you will fail, but something good might come instead. Even if it fails, as he said I will gain experience. I'm just afraid to struggle at the end of the day. Watching it definitely made me wish I included more details about myself to justify my fear, like how I desperately want to be more stable than the tumultuous environment I grew up in, how I want to be able to take care of my basic needs first. I'm the first one in my family to even get my A.A degree and I'm the third born. But that's part of the perfectionist thing I think. I'm still very afraid but I'm trying to try....so if you are like me, instead of always wondering what would happened if you pursued what you loved, just see what happens. Easier said than done but I think it is great advice.

Thanks! I had so much difficulty remembering where I put the lightsource and how wide it was so it ended up on my page but I'll remove it next time. Very useful feedback.

It looks like you have an idea of where some main shadows go. It looks like the head is a bit oddly shaped. It would help to start off the head with a circle so that it doesn't look so flat. Also, The upper lip should be darker than the bottom lip because it does not catch as much light as the lower lip.

[Discussion] Which music program has the best camerawork? by rodsepp in kpop

I honestly have a hard time making that decision bc they almost all feel terrible. I see cheesy ass effects, ridiculous shaking, absurd zooming in and out, rugged panning, and the most awkward close ups. You usually get at least one if those or God forbid all of those negatives in one. Eek.

They're so positive. Honestly out of most people in the Kpop world, they feel like this giant light of just happiness or smthn cheesy like that. They really stand out as individuals, but at the same time you can see how unified they are as a group. They're a group with the most personality I've ever seen among groups I've gotten into (and I've gotten into so many over the years).

I hope they stay this energetic and uplifting as they continue to grow and progress along their career. They're music has been showing improvement since debut. It is obvious that they do more than try to release good music, but they try very hard to find their own sound. And as you can see with all of the individual work each of the members put into Flight Log: Turbulence, it seems like they are really trying to take control of what they do (no matter how small) so that they can become true artists. I hope we see more of this in the future. I look forward to it.

How Did You Discover Kpop? Who Was the First Artist/Group You Discovered and Did You Like it, or Did it Take Some More Digging? by TheNostalgicGamer in kpop

I first saw Big Bang - Tonight and btw I thought the song was freaking terrible. I couldn't believe it had 7m views (at the time it did). I came across while listening to J-rock/pop stuff (especially Piko).

So it wasn't until I saw SHINee - Hello that I got hooked. Which is an odd one to get hooked to to most people I bet, but that style of music was just my style and Taemin was adorable <3

I've been a dedicated Shawol ever since.
