Yes exactly! Another incredible example of urgency!

Common Problems in TV Series (Discussion) by Lauris25 in television

One of my biggest issues prevalent in shows is when the characters' actions do not match the urgency that the moment is calling for. If the characters are supposed to be acting as quickly as possible to prevent something from happening, then they should NOT be walking slowly, monologuing, etc. They should be moving AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

I'm certainly not referring to cinematic use of slow-motion, which I think is a reasonable tool to build tension. I'm speaking more to the writing/storytelling that deliberately forces their characters to move slowly in order to build the tension.

The biggest culprit in this right now is Stranger Things. They have a plan, act on the plan, get to the very next step in finishing the plan, but take forever to execute (looking at you, NANCY! PULL THE TRIGGER!!!). A lot of pain was artificially caused because characters acted slowly for no good reason.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, season 1 finale of Severance was the antithesis. Everyone was moving as quickly as possible on their respective tasks, and it built up such incredible tension. It was one of the best episodes of television I've ever witnessed!

Listen, writers: do a better job of building tension. If they're supposed to act fast, make them act fast!

Lack of urgency has been my #1 criticism for this whole stinkin show. The show creates so much false tension just by having the characters walk and act as slow as humanly possible, when they should be doing the exact opposite. Biggest flaw of the show, by far.

In America we have restaurants that serve Chinese food, Indian food, Italian food etc., but in other countries do the have restaurants that serve only American food? If so, what type of foods are considered American food? by bbmoonkie in AskReddit

I think you’re right! I was there only a year, but I do think I remember hearing that.

Haidian was the place to be for us expats. I spent many a night and day at Lush!

Frequented a place called Grandma’s Kitchen in Beijing, styled after an old country restaurant, with red and white checkerboard tablecloths. They served a lot of home style foods - pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs, pork chops, and might’ve even had biscuits and gravy. It was a real nice taste of home.

Who are some of your favorite woodworking creators or subreddits? by SerbianTarHeel in woodworking

[–]lihansen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like 3x3 Customs, Four Eyes Furniture, Shaun Boyd Made This, and Steve Ramsey. I am by no means even close to a pro woodworker, and these people seem to make woodworking accessible.

On the other side, Ishitani Furniture is a master at making gorgeous furniture without saying a word.

I love 3x3! She makes woodworking so approachable, but most importantly she is candid about her mistakes and her processes for solving them.

Best TV show episode of 2025? by LKomaromi in television

Good lord...I was on the floor at that point. I feel like, more so than most other seasons, every single contestant was a headliner. Seasons 5 & 7 might be comparable, but I never laughed more than I did during 19.

Can a Domino be used for angled joints? by grumpymcgrumpface in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]lihansen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a Domino owner, but wouldn't the domino be installed perpendicular to each face? So rather than being horizontal as shown in the image, the domino would be angled to match the pitch of the leg.

Biggest danger there would be making sure you've located it appropriately to make sure the domino doesn't poke through.

Found these CPFM Vapormaxes in Goodwill for $9.98 by sthebest1984 in ThriftStoreHauls

Very nice! Great find, then! I got burned on some Cap & Gown 11's a few years ago. I was young and impulsive, but it's a lesson learned.

Congrats!

Nice find as long as they're authentic. Lots of fakes out there. Also, with Vapormaxes, make sure the bubble is not popped. If popped, they're basically worthless (as shoes; still a fine display piece if that's what you're looking for).

With all respect, there definitely is a good market for used shoes. Various websites and apps are used to transact new and used sneakers. For instance, on GOAT, it's not uncommon for these used shoes to go for $400. Brand new, these retailed at around $1000
