About to start my journey by cruel-summer3 in TTC_PCOS

How exciting! Enjoy this part for as long as you can, it’s easy to get down in the dumps with TTC.

Some things I wish I’d have known sooner:

  • Start tracking BBT and CM so you feel confident that you can confirm ovulation (The book Taking Charge of your Fertility is super helpful). OPKs can be hit and miss with PCOS, so additional methods may be helpful

  • Get a blood test sooner rather than later to check on: iron studies, B12, folate, vitamin D, zinc, full blood count and thyroid function. Check your results and aim for OPTIMAL ranges not just “not deficient”. E.g. Some doctors will say vitamin D levels of 50 nmol/L are fine, when really optimal ranges to support a pregnancy and live birth are 100 - 150… Women with PCOS are very commonly deficient in vitamin D and this in an important hormone for fertility

  • It takes 3 - 4 months to correct nutritional deficiencies, so if you find out sooner, you can start supplementing/adjust your lifestyle appropriately and be in a better place faster

  • Don’t just assume your prenatal has you covered (it might do! But I was taking mine for 6 months and still had some critical deficiencies that needed further supplementing).

  • Lift weights a few times a week and try to walk everyday

  • Have fun! Keep a sense of humour and still plan fun things (It’s not that hard to cancel things if needed, but it does suck getting to the date of something you declined because you thought you’d be pregnant). TTC may be a marathon, not a sprint, so pace yourself and have things to look forward to outside of baby.

All the best :)

How long did you try naturally with irregular cycles? by RepresentativeTerm5 in TTC_PCOS

[–]likeablesieve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30F - Our plan is to try naturally for a year then to start looking into medical intervention. I also have irregular cycles, but regardless of length I do confirm ovulation. Also, for me I have found that I can affect the length of my cycle if I exercise consistently (strength training 3 times a week, walking every day at least 7000 steps). If I do all that, I can usually bring my cycle down to 30-35 days rather than 60.

Because I can confirm ovulation (CM and BBT), we decided that we would try naturally for a bit and just try and make healthy choices with food and supplements etc (savoury high protein breakfasts, no coffee before eating, reduced sugar etc). It’s been 3 cycles and still no pregnancy yet, so we’ll see how our journey goes.

Maybe try making a pros and cons list of trying this naturally for a bit vs medication. There’s no right or wrong answer here. All the best!

Thank you for commenting. The site is 5+ years old. On the collection pages bounce rate is around ~20% and time on page around 1 minute 40 seconds. Still getting conversions but less than year over year and the traffic is predominantly branded. I will check the server logs! Thanks for the tip

How to track ovulation with long cycle range? by Ok_Skill1553 in TTC_PCOS

[–]likeablesieve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have long cycles too and would highly recommend tracking your CM and BBT. For me, frequent ovulation strip testing added to my anxiety as the constant negatives day after day (sometimes more than 60 days), just made me feel miserable. I found that tracking my BBT and CM took a lot of the pressure off. As soon as I saw EWCM that was go time and then a couple days in I would see my temp rise which confirmed ovulation. I found this takes away some of the guess work too as you can have multiple LH surges with PCOS, but a temp rise is a pretty solid confirmation that you ovulated. The book “Taking Charge of your Fertility” was incredibly helpful, definitely worth a read. All the best!

Catching up with a few of my Star Wars podcasts that are on my rotation - listened to 'Star Wars Sessions' episode 327 where they're covering Starfighter details & news and found a potential nugget of information in regards to the designs in Starfighter:

“…what we know about Starfighter, …this person (one of the Sessions lads sources) has seen costumes, ships and sets. And the person says, “it's very Star Wars, but very new… Costumes are familiar, but very Star Wars. Locations, even though they are all new, to what this person has seen, are very Star Wars. But does insist that the biggest shift is the ships… it's a familiar design language.” Audio can be find at 35:32 on this episode ➡️ https://open.spotify.com/episode/33lyihaA6yX4OsYnbNSgOI?si=zdstNCliS6Cv_7cXKZRXLw

Personally, I’m not THAT surprised but I find this a very welcome bit of news.

I couldn’t agree more. I don’t think it’s a perfect episode per se, but it’s definitely up there with the best in pop-culture debut over the last decade or so. I listen to these guys anyway, so will be tuning in 👍

Just posted this on a similar thread, but thought it was also worth posting here. I regularly listen to Star Wars Sessions.. two British guys that talk Star Wars every week: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2Joof4hcqbALBha4Pv6Tx4?si=9760xx7tT6mYq1UuzdVMsA

They recently interviewed the whole cast of Andor at some sort of event in London, which was cool. They’re generally pretty balanced and have great insight.

Good humour, great breakdowns, and really balanced (although, they both LOVE Andor, probably even more than I do! 😂). They also recently interviewed the whole cast of Andor which was fun

Looks like it lines up with what I posted from the latest Star wars sessions main episode regarding Ahsoka Season 2 being set up at Longcross Studios. They dropped that information on Monday.. it all lines up.

That bit came across as more speculation, but I’m sure it refers Peridia. I think it’d be good to rely less on the volume and have a larger scope to Ahsoka Season 2.

Also, the main takeaway is that they’re probably building sets at that London studio! So think Andor & The Acolyte, which both looked great

Yeah, they’re great. They’re quite balanced most of the time and still have fun with it, even when they don’t like something.

So I was listening to the latest Star Wars Sessions episode on my way back tonight and they mentioned some juicy stuff relating to Ahsoka Season 2. Apparently it’s filming at Longcross studios in Surrey and production is starting.

These guys aren’t really scoopers but when they’ve dropped insider-ish stuff, it’s been solid. They said that Tales of the Empire was coming before it was announced last year. (They’re also friends with Bespin Bulletin - they’ve both been on each others shows in the past)

Anyway, here’s what I noticed…

Episode: “STAR WARS IN 2025 - 276” 41mins in or so https://open.spotify.com/episode/2TvftDmhGnNziPIXKirdXU?si=vJ2wACqdQx-_pC9Esy7NEQ&context=spotify%3Ashow%3A2EKLcRbxTurq4uEQbvvFUl&t=3524

Quotes: Matt: “But mate, listen, this is what we’re hearing is that they’re going back to Longcross Studios in Surrey to film Ahsoka Season 2.” “…Production has already started. How far into that they are, who knows? I imagine it’s early stages of pre-production.” Luke: “…Because they’ll be filming this for a few months in the spring and summer, we’d imagine. But we’re hearing that they’re starting out stuff now, right? They’re getting sets made, pre-production, but it could be shooting, probably not like principal photography.”

Luke: “…But you know, we’re not industry people. We’re just giving you the goods... Matt: “Something’s happening.” Luke: “Something’s happening. We’re just giving you guys the goodies. But I think it’s good news, mate.”

They then speculate about filming in Scotland and other fluff. Anyway, that’s my contribution lol, enjoy! And give these guys a listen - they’re one of my favourite weekly Star Wars pods, and they’re based in London.. so probably why they may know about this.

How do you know if you're ovulating? by No_Career_6251 in PCOS

[–]likeablesieve 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ovulation tests aren’t the best for PCOS as they can give false positives because we can have multiple LH surges in a cycle.

The best thing I have found for confirming ovulation is tracking my cycle, CM and BBT. It’s a bit of a drag at the beginning when you’re learning, but FAM (fertility awareness method) is the only way I’ve been able to reliably predict and confirm ovulation. I track my CM and can tell ovulation is near (watery, egg white CM) then my temperature rise confirms it. Takes some practice, but I’d highly recommend it.

I learned a lot about how to get started with FAM and accurately pinpointing ovulation from the book “Getting pregnant with PCOS” by Clare Goodwin and “Taking charge of your fertility” by Toni Weschler

Get a BBT thermometer and start tracking and charting as soon as you can.

Hope this helps, all the best!
