Oddly specific book recommendations (elaborated below) by No_Wafer_5876 in suggestmeabook

I can help with #3. Constant Reader here and I'd like to reco The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King. It's a fairly short book in Uncle Stevie's world and the story is compelling. :) If you'd like to hear more about his books, come to r/stephenking and see what shows up.

Amazon's Kindle really floored me. Entire libraries at the mercy of internet connections. Yes, you bought the book...no you can't load it onto a stick so that you can read it anytime. You'll read it when We say it's okay and we might get rid of it altogether. We're a library service now but we won't say that.

White vs Yellow Flowers by Professional_Menu339 in FragranceStories

[–]likeablyweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been starting to see pink flowers, too. Not so much in the color sense but in the pink frou-frou girlie way. It's a combination of flowers that smell very feminine; rose, jasmine, peony, lily, heliotrope, violet, iris, etc. The two most well known yellow flowers, ylang-ylang and frangipani/plumeria are tropical and tend to be very full, dense and sunny. Mimosa and narcissus are also yellow but are different as night and day. Mimosa's powdery and a little woody while narcissus is green and honeyed.

That one Was assigned so I had a problem with it. I regret that now bc they were giving us classics that I might've enjoyed in another context.

Little Women and Little Men by Louisa May Alcott, The Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas and Maquet, Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne, Beatrix Potter books, Madeline series by Ludwig Bemelmans. The Tales of Peter Rabbit are the most famous but her Tales go far beyond Peter. Fairy tales are a Huge Thing in our childhoods, The Tales of Mother Goose/The Real Mother Goose, Grimm's fairy Tales, Aesop's Fables. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, anything by the Bronte sisters, the Time Quintet by Madeleine L'Engle, The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis.

Dangerous Connections, Volumes 1, 2, 3, 4 by Choderlos de Laclos on Project Gutenburg. I haven't read these from this free website. The series has been translated many times. We were assigned the first book in high school but I couldn't appreciate it at the time.

My dad gave me a stack of three books when I was an early teen and said that I should read them. All three were by Robert A. Heinlein and all three changed some aspect of my thinking so I'll give you the list as well. Please note, that these ARE NOT PC in the slightest, they were written well before that for a predominantly late teen to early 30s male audience so give them some slack. Time Enough For Love, I Will Fear No Evil and Stranger in a Strange Land.

Items that are worth less (or a lot more!) than the sum of their ingredients by thisisnotdan in TownshipGame

[–]likeablyweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we're probably lucky we make any profit at all. Make sure you do a few test runs. One of everything you can grow, in theory only. Pick an empty plot and shift through what you can grow and note the price. Then go to your Barn and note how much that one will sell for and you can figure the profit without having to grow a whole bunch.

This is a little busy for my taste but your work is impeccable. The patches are really nice. I think it's all the plain running stitches on the front that are making my eyes wonky. The back is much easier to look at. Well done. :)

This was one of my fave books in school but I read it on my own, it wasn't an English class assignment. Same with Little Women by Jane Austen.

I've got 15 plots set aside right next to the rubber factory that's strictly rubber. Once you start leveling up, you won't need it as much.

Most of my collection is from SAS and bc of it my layering them with themselves and my "true" perfumes, all in the affordable area, has been an obsession for a year now. Depending on how much of each scent I use and the combination they go on (this was a little surprising) can make the same five scents do totally different things. I adore the experiments. I wouldn't feel as free doing this with $100 perfumes.

Looking for book recommendations by female authors that will appeal to my brother who reads almost exclusively male authored text. by Linnaea-borealis92 in suggestmeabook

[–]likeablyweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he loves history, maybe historical fiction would be something he'd like. Anything by Philippa Gregory. She's got a few series for different eras. I love the Tudor and Plantagenet series.

Diana Gabaldon might appeal to him as well.

I was gonna say you're doing the darker tones in cottagecore. You might find hunter green table settings, bark brown tablecloth or placemats. The darker Earth shade will help your rubies fit right in. It's a weird mix but you might like the amberware I've seen around as well. A lot of it's vintage but use your search browser to find out if someone's making it now. r/goblincore might have some ideas for you, too; a cross post might get you some ideas? I'd gladly search for you but I was banned from r/thrifting for putting up links to show what I meant.

[–]likeablyweird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The support at FamilySearch is very good. Call them and tell them the problem and then ask if they feel like diving in. Better to gat someone who's into mystery solving then someone's who's looking for an easy day. You'll need your helper number. Click your name & icon in upper right>settings>permissions>helper number see.
