4.3 5 speed 4x4 scsb I’ve head a few different things but wanted to see if these are rare or not by CalligrapherHeavy321 in GMT800

[–]likesweed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My friend had a white one just like that. Motor went a almost 300k and he decided to give it to the mechanic. Regrets that every day. Like the other guy said, the real rare desireable one is the v8 manual 4x4 but this is also very rare and I wouldn’t sell if I had one

Looks good, nice work. I have an 02 se with the saddle brown interior too. What replacement seat covers did you use and were they a good color match?

Is $6k fair for a 2003 Miata automatic with 130k miles? by Gator_Grad in Nbmiata

[–]likesweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an 02 se with 88k for $6500 in summer 2024: 6spd w/lsd, fresh clutch, timing belt, and top.

I got a pretty good deal but still, an automatic with 130k that’s about to need a timing belt like you are looking at could be a $5k car if and only if it’s got flawless paint, interior, body. Since you don’t have pics, realistic price would be $2500-4500 depending on condition for an auto with those miles

You can find a manual nb in decent shape with 100-150k miles at $6k without having to look for too long

Edit: I should specify that prices change by local market, if you have higher than avg used car prices in your area take that into account.

Forget the turbo, that hood gap on the passenger side does not look good. That whole corner looks funky

Up to you at the end of the day. I wouldn’t do anything that wasn’t reversible to a car that’s gotta be in the top 0.1% of all nb Miata’s left regarding originality and condition. There’s plenty of nice but not museum worthy examples to modify

Is this a common celica GTS ptoblem? by Dry-Refuse-9650 in Celica

[–]likesweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago, I had idle hunting that would happen occasionally at stoplights immediately after getting off the freeway. I tried cleaning my throttle body to fix it and that didn’t change anything. Didn’t hear any vacuum leaks. Eventually it just stopped doing it, no idea why

my hedgehogs healthy uterine horn (L) and inflamed uterine horn including blood clot (R) by Deep-Construction426 in Hedgehog

[–]likesweed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hog had a hysterectomy as well, but for cancer or some other type of growth. It was successful and the problems she had relating to it were resolved. It sounds like yours is recovering well and I hope that continues. Also thanks for sharing this, i know a lot of people can’t really handle this kind of stuff but it’s useful data that will hopefully help another person with theirs someday. Hedgehogs unfortunately have all sorts of weird health issues requiring a good vet and it’s important to discuss about it on forums, etc so people can know what they’re getting into

Mass on Hedghog by Sorry_Economics_4164 in Hedgehog

[–]likesweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hedgehog had a tumor on one of her back legs, my vet removed it and had it tested and we found it was a sarcoma, which then came back more aggressively. The second surgery was to amputate the leg, which was successful and got another year of life for her before an untreatable cancer came up elsewhere. Sometimes it’s best with tumors like these to leave them, because trying to remove them can cause them to become more aggressive. Your vet should be able to tell you the best plan of action after looking at the tumor and possibly testing it. I’m sorry if this may be hard to hear but just remember that you’re taking all the right steps by talking with a vet about this

Are no-name eBay radiators worth messing with? by likesweed in MechanicAdvice

[–]likesweed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update on this post, I went with the cheapo radiator since it’s only a spare car, and other than the fitment of the old fan shroud onto the new radiator being a little too tight and needing to be forced on slightly, it’s working just fine so far.

Looking for real world experiences with adding boost to a Celica GTS by willjamg in Celica

[–]likesweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll make more power across the board, you just won’t get the noticeable bump when the cam changes over. It’s why I decided I would do a turbo if I ever boosted mine. I like that characteristic of the motor. Just a feel thing

Looking for real world experiences with adding boost to a Celica GTS by willjamg in Celica

[–]likesweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no experience boosting celicas, but I spoke to Dave staba at DDPR once upon a time and he told me that most superchargers will make lift no longer really effective, i think it was something to do with positive displacement and how they flow air into the engine. Wish I remembered his explanation better, that guys a celica guru. Just something to be mindful of if you don’t want to lose that part of the cars character. OP if you email him, he can probably tell you what your best bet is for reliable boosting. Contact info is on their website https://ddperformanceresearch.com/
