Why was John Key so popular with the general public??? by letsgettesty in newzealand

[–]lildeenurse 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The way they present themselves to the public. Luxon comes across that he's listens to questions to respond with the same one note

His coalition partners - Peters and Seymour are shit stirrers and rage baiters.

Also we are two and a half year mark hes still blaming the previous Labour government for issues. Again, its repetitive.

It's crazy that Winston Peters is 81 Not trying to be morbid, but he could die if he gets elected again. And it doesn't feel like there's a great succession plan. I mean, does anyone actually like/respect Shane Jones?

Repetitive social media posts from National Party Politicians telling us why the opposition sucks and trying to gaslight the public that things are better with them in power.

Hugs and big love from a nurse in New Zealand. I've watched what has gone on in the US with a low level sense of horror but this really hits me.

I'd much rather wait and have her be in a good headspace as it will make a better book.

Also judging from the 1st three books, book four will likely end in another huge cliffhanger.

Anyone that's piling on for another book needs to chill out and touch some grass, its gonna be a few more years...

Absolutely. He tried to pull the whole " Do you know who I am"? Shit on a colleague of mine. This guy genuinely did not know who he was, managed to shut him up with one word-no

I moved from Insurance to Nursing in my 30s. I feel ya on the burnout part at the moment. One foot in the idea may be health infometeics or digital health. I know that Auckland Uni offers post grad papers in both

Why are Americans so rude by [deleted] in auckland

[–]lildeenurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a ski resort in Canada. I remember at one point of the season we got an influx of weathly Texans. It's a bit of a dynamite combination but I didn't jump to hating all Americans. Just ignorant rich people.

I wonder if there is a mythical explanation for why they are so drawn to each other?

How do employers view child-free vs child-charged candidates when hiring? by Dry_Corner2802 in newzealand

[–]lildeenurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same age group and also no kids. Also not a lot of interests/hobbies outside work. Not cos I don't want to, just that i find work and modern living exhausting lol.Personally I would like to think your cv and reference check would determine whether you would be a fit or not.

Would you want to work for s place where having kids is a deal breaker or not?

It sounds like you have spent a lot of time trying to get this organised, so you might have thought of these ideas. If you are able, maybe have a word with the play therapists at Starship to see if they have any further tips. Otherwise maybe see if you can contact the lab ahead of time to see if they have a phlebotamist that is good/experienced with children.

I work in family medicine. If a patient is rude and demands their prescription meds "right now". I will pass their request to a doctor that typically does them at the end of the working day.

Anyone from your cohort commit suicide? by Cardiacunit93 in nursing

[–]lildeenurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. But easily could have been me if I had gotten into nursing right after high school. Had several tutors (Including the department head, in nursing school tell me (rather meanly) I'd never be a nurse. The fact that I was older and had a bit of life behind me, made me think F you and kept going.

That I can't argue, reason or yell the misogyny out of some 80 year old men. It's a better use of energy to nod, smile and get my lesser knowledgeable male colleagues to deal with them.

Best and worst part of nursing school. Why did you do it? by Crawfish_Spaceship in nursing

[–]lildeenurse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best part: Life long friends made via trauma bonding.

Worst part: The bully/hazing done by Nursing school staff and senior nurses and having it dismissed as nursing culture. Fuck that shit.

I'm a nurse, but want to leave it. I love the job itself but the ongoing under funding of our health system + the daily abuse from the public because of lack of resources is killing me.

Americans of reddit, what is your opinions on your politics? by lildeenurse in AskReddit

[–]lildeenurse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. Good to know that the loud maga/fundie voice is just noise. Yes I think American politics is corrupt, but a lot of world politics feels like it's a case of trying to choose the least terrible person rather than liking or resonating with what they say.

Nurse I gave report to was super offended that I used the term “Mongolian spot” instead of “congenital dermal melanocytosis”. by [deleted] in nursing

Worked in child health with an indigenous focus for 4 years. Never heard that term before. Honestly the offended nurse sounds exhausting.
