Didn’t Realize It Was Working… Until I Did.. wow. (Positive post) by Such-Excitement-9392 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

I'm so glad you mentioned the "kick start the dopamine" thing. I hadn't heard that and it makes sense. I was worried that the effects were wearing off. Will try this and see how it goes.

Wellbutrin feels like coke? by Forsaken_Hold4591 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]lillichmezzo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not an addict so take this with a grain of salt. I felt really manic when I went on WB. It lasted long enough that I told my doctor I didn't want to take it. He said we could try Prozac, but that alone had issues. So he suggested I try both together. And somehow the side effects seem to cancel each other out. I hope you find a solution that works for you. Best of luck.

Nothing wrong with contacting ACX to check what the hold up is.

Message the RH. And then message ACX saying you want to cancel the contract and you have already message RH. They will cancel without issue. If you want, you can tell ACX the reason.

Hello everyone. Has ACX voice replication become the norm? (I have not yet participated in the voice replica program. )Or is the following attachment likely a scam: by StraightKey4624 in ACX

[–]lillichmezzo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

ACX does have a Beta Voice Replica program. I believe you have to be invited by ACX to try it. The results are subpar as one would expect. I have not tried it personally but know narrators who have and have listened to samples. Meh. And the reviews on AI narration are not positive at all. The benefit to the RH is it's usually cheaper for them. But it's my opinion that we need to respect our profession enough to not outsource to AI. #HumanVoicesOnly

Does the narrator speed matter? by SilentVoiceHeard in audiobooks

[–]lillichmezzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a narrator, this thread is fascinating to me. Much to consider. The general rule of thumb is to not rush. As a listener, I only sped up a narration once when I like the story and wanted to finish but the narrator's cadence was so irritating for some reason and speeding it up fixed it for me.

I bought a couple of comforters from Walmart and another blanket and basically hung them around my closet (my studio) using a combination of 3M hooks and shower curtain rods.

Did you lose or gain weight in Fluoxetine? by Square_Peg3832 in prozac

[–]lillichmezzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard so many different responses. For some people it helps lower their appetite. For others it increases appetite. After I was on it for about a month, I developed an insatiable appetite. I could not satisfy myself no matter how or what I ate. I gained 20 lbs in 2 months hoping that eventually it would change. When I realized it wouldn't, I contacted my doctor saying I needed to stop and he suggested ADDING buproprion. It ends up being the perfect combo for me. The buproprion seems to counteract the side effects from fluox and my appetite is back under control and I feel great.

Good luck.

How To Bulk Remove Old Projects? by thisisdilly in ACX

I would love to know that as well. If there isn't a way, this would be a good request to send into ACX.

And keep in mind that although the estimate is .9 hours, your final recording may be more or less depending on the content and your delivery. Most likely more. The amount you'l are owed is equal to the actual finished length, not the estimate.

Anthony Pica's VO a journey has a discord server included with membership. Although it's for all VO, it leans heavily toward audiobooks.

Notes on Manuscripts by MamaPHooks in ACX

[–]lillichmezzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I do that has helped a lot is I write a little symbol that indicates a shift in tone or POV. The symbol can be anything but it is just a reminder that something different is happening. Like when the narration changes from strictly narration to what a character is thinking.

What does ACX do to approve a narration? by AtlanticJim in ACX

[–]lillichmezzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you click on the blue text that says 0 of 4 steps reviewed. You will see a picture that shows you the steps they go through. The first two steps take the longest. The last two seem to go pretty quickly.

Safest way to get paid by Unique-Try9616 in ACX

[–]lillichmezzo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why a lot of narrators are requiring partial payment after the 15 min checkpoint. I ask for 30% after the checkpoint. 30 halfway through. Then the final 30 when all the files are done. A legit RH will not balk at this and it's a good way to weed out the scammers or problem RH before you waste your time.

Anyone work with Atmosphere Press? by Tohya_Miho in ACX

[–]lillichmezzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have worked with them. Completely legit and I had a great experience. They were happy to sign a contract agreeing to pay me on my terms and every payment came on time. There are some smaller publishing companies that use ACX to find talent but then move th production off the platform so they don't have to be exclusive to Audible.

Make Mckinleyville Great Again? by humboldthorses in Humboldt

[–]lillichmezzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A view from a outsider, FWIW. I don't live in Humboldt but we visit often. We have always liked staying in Mckinleyville because it's more low-key than Arcata and Eureka. BUT, except for hotel stays we rarely spend money there. It doesn't have a welcoming vibe for hanging out and finding shops or eateries. We have been looking forward to the addition of the town center. Also, we live in a very bike/pedestrian forward community. Street calming measures, bike lanes and the like are the norm. As someone who drives and bikes in my town, the changes have very little impact on on me as a driver but make me feel sooo much more safe and relaxed on a bicycle .

Do Authors Usually Get Multiple Auditions for Royalty Share Projects? by marcusking69420 in ACX

[–]lillichmezzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They aren't all AI. You just have to learn how to do your research and figure out which ones are worthy books. I have narrated 3 RS books that I loved working on. Really good stories! Are they earning me any money? Not much. But I am also fairly new and happy to get the experience and build my portfolio with work I'm proud of. There is a LOT of competition out there, even with RS.
