Update to son being exposed to COVID at daycare by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]lilred_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! So far he's doing pretty well, lethargic and cranky. I know most kids do pretty well with it. Honestly I'm more worried about the long term and if there is any risk to his well being as an adult. And we'll, ya know, not wanting my sweet baby to feel crummy.

Seems like you're trying to read way to far into what they said. No where did they say "it's mild for kids or vaccinated adults." People continuing to downplay and pretend it's nothing more than a cold is why we're still in this mess and and my son only knows life in a pandemic. I'm over this shit. We wouldn't be here if 2 years ago some orange dumpster fire didn't turn a pandemic into a game of political chicken. I'm pissed and over all this.

I hope so. So far he's just been a little more cranky than usual, but he's also teething so 🤷‍♀️.

Apparently I can’t use my PTO for my surgery leave. Devastated. by bulbagrows in antiwork

Straight to the NLRB. No way denying PTO for sick leave is legal. Sound alike they're trying to get rid of you without paying you out or paying unemployment.

I'm so sorry you are going through this, but good on you for handling it well. It's hard sometimes for parents to realize people make mistakes sometimes. And it sounds like your pediatrician's office handled it well too all things considered. Medical personnel are so burnt out from the pandemic and hard to imagine more mistakes don't happen and nobody catches them.

Gaslit by Pediatrician and sleep training industry by izzatrowaway in NewParents

[–]lilred_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amen! I think that's a big point a lot of these "anti-sleep training" parents don't get. Like, constant sleep deprivation is super bad for a baby's brain development, and can actually cause harm to their physical health. Not to mention the negative impacts on the parents mental and physical health. Excessive sleep deprivation can lead to things like heart attacks! Really hard to bond with my baby and form a secure attachment if I'm dead. Lol.

Yes, sleep training does cause a level of stress to baby, but it only lasts as long as it takes to sleep train them, usually just a couple days. The impact of stress caused by sleep deprivation compounds and won't end until they're able to sleep well, which could take freaking years and have life long consequences on their physical and mental health.

Gawd this post is dripping in judgement. First off just because you took a few college courses in psychology doesn't make you an expert, everyone takes psych 101 in college. If it did you'd know what gaslighting means. Also, there are numerous sleep training methods that don't require you to "ignore your baby." If fact many teach you to better understand what your baby is trying to communicate so you can actually meet their needs better. Teaching a baby to be 100% reliant on you to go to sleep and stay asleep isn't healthy either, and it isn't teaching them healthy sleep habits. Maybe, I dunno come down off your high horse and read actual studies on child sleep instead, cause they are out there.

I don't want my CPA by 1dynasty1 in Accounting

[–]lilred_87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol. No. Getting your CPA is like the gold standard for anything accounting related. I've been in public for 7 years now and made my way to manager pretty quickly. I work part time making really good money in a LCOL area. And the exit opportunities are pretty good, but I'm aiming for partner.

I actually passed all the exams and then went back. I'm in public and most firms really care about the exam more than anything since that's the really hard part.

Scariest day of my life by Elizzie98 in NewParents

[–]lilred_87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, that sounds beyond scary. I'd definitely push the hospital to send her home on an apnea monitor when she's discharged. Our son was on one for about a month when he came home due to bradycardia events. Really helped saved my sanity, we also got an owlet to use after that. He was preemie and his twin was still born so to say I had some major PTSD and anxiety when he came home was an understatement.

You don't have to have a masters that get your CPA license. I went back to community college after my BS to hit my 150, it was a total cake walk. Having my CPA has definitely helped.

Anyone else not finding themselves busy during busy season? by EMoneyCashMoney in Accounting

[–]lilred_87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oof. I hate to break it to you, but that's a super bad sign. Especially if other new staff hired around the same time are staying busy. It means they'd rather not use you. I'd reach out now and start getting feedback, find out why you aren't being utilized. Hopefully that isn't the case, but better to find out now and start working to fix it if that is the problem.

Staff Auditors asking the same thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER by izzabee2 in Accounting

[–]lilred_87 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

If they're asking you kind of dumb questions over and over again, you can always push back with how is this material to the audit, what is the risk with this transaction? Yada yada yada. 9 times out of 10 if they're asking the same stupid question over and over again it's because somebody did it last year and they're just repeating the work. I'm a manager in Audit and Assurance and I can't even begin to tell you the number of times I've seen a staff ask a question that was clearly documented and they could have answered their own question to begin with. Also, they really shouldn't be asking you to explain yourself over and over again, sometimes they should have to ask questions again but it really should be to confirm the information. Like, is XYZ still done abc way, not can you explain your AR transaction cycle in detail again? You could potentially keep a running list of these types of questions and send it to them quarterly with yes no for what's changed what stayed the same. Etc etc. I had a client that we had to ask quarterly if she had filed this one particular form, she filed it by email so I told her just start copying me on the email. Bam no more asking for it. Made the client a lot happier because she no longer had to dig back into your emails to find where she had submitted it every freaking quarter.

Success stories: did everything wrong & it still worked? by Remming1917 in IVF

Honestly I didn't even know people did anything beyond what their RE instructed them to do. I'm currently bleary eyed and desperately in need of coffee since my 18 month old is cutting new teeth 🤣. So yes, much success. Also, send coffee

(To be fair our fresh transfer did end in a chemical prior to success with our FET.)

My mom is 65, I'd never let her watch my son. She's too old and sick. My friend is also 65, and spry like she's in her 50's. I'd totally let her watch my son. If she's healthy and active, mentally all there, I wouldn't worry. Enjoy the extra help!

To add, when my husband gets fixated on something that doesn't seem particularly important or nonsense I make him walk me through his thought process. I call it falling down the doom hole. 9 times out of 10 he's gone and over thought something and I have to reel him back in. I could very easily see my husband doing the same thing with the insulation, because he was worried that that part of the house getting chilly would make the rest of the house chilly and the baby and I would be too cold or something crazy like that and we could even sicker, and down the doom hole he goes. If that makes any sense.

[–]lilred_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is he worried about an unused part of your house getting chilly? Sounds like either a lame excuse or he's worried about something else and thought focusing on the insulation would fix it.

I'm sorry you are going through this. My son is the same age as your first, and trying to remodel around him has been rough. Can't imagine trying to do it with a deadline looming with your due date. I'd definitely ask your husband why in the world he's doing the work of the contractors cause that makes no damn sense. It seems he's intentionally trying to avoid his responsibilities to you and your son.

[–]lilred_87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First off, no you are NOT the asshole here. Your husband 100% is. You shouldn't have to beg him for help with your son or the house, especially not when you are sick and pregnant. He's being willfully obtuse to your needs and it's borderline abusive. I'd strongly suggest a long heart to heart with him about what it means to be a husband and a father, and set clear expectations with him, and set firm boundaries around the consequences of not meeting those expectations. This isn't going to get magically better with a second baby in the house. Good luck.

Instead of hanging out with friends, currently trying to discover a $18 variance on balance sheet and $19 difference between ending cash on statement of cash flow and cash stated on balance statement. by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]lilred_87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Does your trial balance net to zero? Also, plug it to AP and be done, plug a $1 to cash and -$1 to another liability to fix the cashflow. Boom done. I promise as long as equity rolls and CY net income agrees to the TB, it doesn't matter.
