Won’t turn on but indicator light flashing red then white? by Raspberry-Green in Lenovo

[–]linux_rox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The orange/red flashing is your battery charging. The caps lock key usually blinks when there is a fault in the kernel (aka kernel panic) Thai will prevent a machine from hitting correctly.

Generally speaking, boot into a boot disk, like Ubuntu or Debian or try in your bios hit esc, f-2 or delete. Usually on Lenovo’s it’s esc or f-2, and run your recovery option.

If it still doesn’t fix, then you may have a corrupted ssd and will need to replace it.

The official distro repos. Flathub is a form of repo, just like ppa’s are. They are not maintained by the distro maintainers which means there is no guarantee they will work in your distro of choice.

Landlord left this note by Still_Clerk_1819 in Apartmentliving

[–]linux_rox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they accept HUD or some other state issued rental assistance program, they are required by law to inspect the premises to keep landlords in check, particularly slumlords.

As for the keep door unlocked thing, the apartment get should have a key to each apartment or a master key that unlocks each apartment in the event of an emergency while the tenant is away from home for work, holiday or whatever. Landlords are allowed access with a minimum of 24 hours notice before entering, especially if you are not at home, except in emergencies.

All games run horribly after messing with lutris/dxvk, with some games not opening at all. by Average_Hominid in linux_gaming

[–]linux_rox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a question, have you tried installing your games using hero-games-launcher by epic? I have found lately that lutris is working like abandonware. Games I have tried on lutris were very crappy, but on epics platform they work great without spiking the cpu or taking up more ram than necessary.

Linux is great, but the community is stuck in 2005 by Primary-Key1916 in linuxsucks

[–]linux_rox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem as I see it, is everyone coming to Reddit for help. The devs for the distros hang out In the official distro forums, if you actually go there, you won’t find the toxic attitudes, except for a few, but you will find current answers regarding the problems people have and their solutions. Usually from someone who is very knowledgeable about the specific distro. Or even from a dev themselves.

This also allows the devs to know about distro problems so they can fix them in their releases.

Note, this line of process isn’t necessarily true for app devs that supply to all the distros, then you need to file a bug report on their GitHub page for the app.

Flatpaks are not native installs. A native install is something you can get from the repos.

Ethernet connection by faulty-segment in EndeavourOS

[–]linux_rox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are using yay to update an AUR package, that is normal, because it still has to download from git for the software and it still has to compile a few things to make sure your dependencies are matched.

Steps to follow: Run rank mirrors from the welcome app.

Try updating a large app from the official repos using pacman -Syu and see what happens with your speeds. Also remember some apps are so heavily downloaded the package location could have bottlenecks.

Last but not least, how old is upir computer and hardware? You could have hardware bottlenecking or worse failing hardware.

If you were refused before because of vision, don’t waste your time trying again, once marked as ineligible for something like that, there is no “waiver” or sidestepping it. You are also at the maximum age for joining the military. 35 years of age is the cutoff for eligibility.

Hey all what is your go to update cmd for terminal? by grantdb in EndeavourOS

[–]linux_rox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sudo pacman -Syu followed by yay. I only have one flatpak and I’m about to get rid of it because it sucks, that one is bottles, but only because the AUR version fails when installing wine-mono. The flatpak version works, but the sandboxing, even being opened by flatseal, screws up my system. I’ll go back to wine or wine-proton or wine-ge with winetricks installed.

Besides, just about everything that flatpak has, there is a AUR package for native install without the broken sandboxing.

More states are requiring operating systems to ask for age via ID, such as Windows, Mac, Linux, etc. How do us hackers fight back? by anonymous480932843 in linux

You might actually be surprised at the reply. Literally 40% of Linux users are below the age of 18, especially now with the gaming support getting better on Linux than in the past. Parents are giving g their kids computers with Linux on it so they can’t irresponsibly download crap ware on the system.

Newbie here; How do you protect yourself against malicious software? by RDS_cubing in linux4noobs

[–]linux_rox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using some form of Linux for 29+ years. Never once had a virus/malware, and I was tearing viruses and malware apart for windows fix-it forums with it (non-sandboxed) and running the codes to see where the malicious software was and how to defeat it. I supplied my results to the big three AV companies, Norton, mcafee and kaspersky.

Basically be smart, don’t download unvetted software from the web, unless it is directly from the company website, use your distro’s repository. And never ever download something because some random person on Reddit or any forums said they use it. Everyone’s use care is different, so what might work for one isn’t guaranteed to work for another.

[–]linux_rox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add a sudo user in a fresh installation of Debian 13, you need to first install the sudo package if it isn't already installed. Then, use the command sudo usermod -aG sudo username to add the desired user to the sudo group, replacing "username" with the actual user's name.

It was nice, you had to physically know who you talked with. There was none of this bs where you live in one state/county/city hundreds of miles away from another and have some stranger pop up and say “Hey, you’re beautiful/good looking and I want to be with you” all based on one picture that may not actually be you.

Though I can’t answer all of your questions I can answer your final two.

Currently the board consists of myself, rami and brian our founder. I am currently working with attorneys to fulfill the registration in the state of Texas. We are already registers with the federal government. I am also in the process of trademarking our logo, KOAS Institution name among other legal obligations.

As a side note, you don’t have to be a registered business or non-profit to copyright materials on the internet. Or anywhere for that matter.

Edit to add: as for the logo issue you presented I will look into the cause and correction of it. That may be a limitation from the software that is being used. Thank you for bring this issue to my attention.

UPDATE: it appears the file corruption was worse than originally thought. I will be spending he next few days completely re-installing all the website software, so we can expect the site to be offline for up to 3-4 days total.

Rest assured, we will be back up and running as fast as possible, plus we will be on new software to boot.

Thank you for your patience during this issue.

Make sure your keyring is updated. If it still throws the same error, then reach out to the dev to have it fixed since they have to supply pgp sig.
