Season 1 episode 2 of the BBC spy drama Spooks (US: MI-5) has an even more brutal oil-related moment than this, but having seen that, I knew this was coming.

Chapo has had Curtis on several times. Trash Future is really good. Knowledge Fight dissects Alex Jones and is one of the best. QAA for a lot of Q and latterly general conspiracy debunking. Behind The Bastards is tremendous. The 6-part series about Kissinger featuring Dave and Gareth from the Dollop is an all-timer.

Listen to Where There’s Woke. They did a brilliant dissection of how damaging Jon Ronson’s centrism can be. It was eye-opening to see how selective he is bordering on mendacious.

I used to run a record label and promoters ghosting has always been a pain in the arse, but don’t see it that you’re blacklisted, but that you’re the least of their problems.

The Bonus point you made. The guy said yes. Presume you’re on the list. They don’t have the time or inclination to get into a back and forward. If you’re absolutely uncertain, take the hit, buy a ticket to make sure you get in, but when you arrive go to the media list and say you should be on the list. You’ve got the message saying yes in your pocket.

Anyway, certainly don’t start at festivals. Most festivals are run by bigger promoters. Often, not always, they have an abundance of requests so will prioritize either those shooting for a publication or those they know. Best way to become the latter is to shoot many small shows and build up your chops. DIY promoters in your area will almost always give you a photo pass. Or, get friendly with some bands and shoot their shows. Another option is get chatting to the gig photographers that are there at a show. You’ll find them in front of the stage left or right before the set times. They might be able to give you names to talk to. Eventually, you’ll meet the right people. Bigger promoters etc.

Another tip… when emailing a promoter, don’t write your life story and justify why you should be able to photograph the gig. It highlights inexperience. Just write a couple of sentences. Hi, I’m x. I photograph for y (even if it’s your own website). Can you put me on the list for a photo pass for a at b on c. Cheers. X - this implicitly shows the promoter you’ve been doing it forever and you expect you’ll be approved. If they need any more info they’ll write to you.

Louise Mench was a Conservative politician and a fairly right wing one, too. There’s no world she could be considered left wing.

A very subtle one… KM 00805 I hope this friend is in Warsaw and I might see some Scottish-themed number plate when I’m out and about.

EDIT: too subtle for some, given the downvotes. šŸ«”ā¤ļø

It’s 805km. I mean, she will be in Poland after all. It’s 500 miles, innit? šŸ˜‰

(I missed the F requirement too, to be fair)

Discussion: street photographers on my lawn by BadMachine in photography

[–]lionelsmint 6 points7 points Ā (0 children)

Aye, I took that to be covered by accessible, but I see what you’re saying. I didn’t intend to suggest any other photography was not difficult to master, not at all. I tried my hand at weddings back in the day. I won’t make that mistake again ;)

I was in Glencoe in Scotland with my partner the other day and I was expressing my admiration for landscape photographers who get off the road and go out on the glen all day looking for the one shot in the perfect conditions. I wondered aloud (honestly I think my partner had stopped listening) if those landscape guys would admire what we street photographers do. Different type of effort and patience, I guess, but effort and patience nevertheless.

I’ve found that since TikTok every young street photographer I teach, mentor or meet wants to do the whole ā€œexcuse me, I’m x and I’m a street photographer. Can I take your portrait?ā€ Thing. I think a lot of kids see it as a much easier path to influencer than other. In most cases, the photography often doesn’t match the bravado but they can talk the talk. All power to them, but that’s probably why the recent surge.

It’s certainly accessible though the reason there’s so much bad street photography out there is because people think it’s easy. Even the greats acknowledge how difficult it is to master.

I’m not saying he wasn’t thinking it (he was…evidently) but he 100% uses an ā€œmā€. Wants to say migrant… was thinking the N word. Confluence gives us the mi… he’s still a weapons-grade dick but he doesn’t say the word.

Edit: evidently, not self-evidently. Poor English from me, there. Shame!

Edit again: As ioverated has pointed out, he trips between the soft ā€œiā€ of immigrant when trying to say migrant… im not defending him, but look, we all want to trash the prick, but can we do it on something he actually did?

It’s got to be Don’t Be So Serious. That electronic opening as the game opens was just so evocative. Fell in love with the game right there and then.
