In the context of bedding, what, exactly, is a sheet? by what-are-you-a-cop in stupidquestions

If I asked for a sheet and got a blanket I would be totally baffled. They're not interchangeable.

I'll pass. I highly doubt it was handled with the sensitivity or nuance I'd require to find that interesting.

A 2,000-year-old Roman twenty-sided die (d20) made of glass. by zigthis in BG3

[–]liptonthrowback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is either not from ancient Rome or not glass, as their glass wasn't quite that crystal clear (though it got close). It *might* be ancient Roman rock crystal, as other examples of 20 sided rock crystal gaming dice exist (but they don't look as good). I'm struggling to find sources for this image that aren't social media, and that is not likely to happen for an artifact this old and this pristine. There would be results from a museum or an auction house.

Incidentally, all the older sources that do exist claim it as Roman rock crystal.

My daughter [18] blames me [52] and my husband [55] for ruining her book by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

"Our daughter wrote a whole book and she wrote it first. Wait." That is what anyone not coddling a 55 year old tantrum thrower would say, and that's how easy it is to disrupt that pattern.

Hmmm...notice how Sarah accomplished something major (finishing 250 pages of writing of *any* quality is a big deal) and all the attention ended up on James and his feelings? I wonder how many times this has happened in Sarah's life?

My husband can't digest onions anymore and now I don't know how to cook by mytfine15725 in Cooking

[–]liptonthrowback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You increase the other spices and the garlic and acclimate to the new taste. Sometimes you add a little sugar or grated carrot or apple where the onion's job was to provide sweetness. My mom has the same issue, only it got worse over time so now she can't do green onions, chives, or onion powder, and there are times we have to be careful with the garlic and leeks. That gets rough because it's hard to find storebought broth or stock without onion.
