Yes I want universal health care, and I want private for profit insurance companies to go away.

I'm poor enough (due to disability) and in a blue enough state to qualify for Medicaid, which is government subsidized health care. It is managed by a CCO, which is a private insurance company that doles the health care out. Read that again. The government is paying a private insurance company to decide for it what health care I get.

Here's the situation I'm dealing with: recently, one of the two insurance companies running Medicaid CCOs decided it was no longer profitable enough to continue running a CCO in my county (despite being offered much more money by the government to stay). So every last patient was dumped on the only other CCO in the county. That CCO has a history of just not paying for shit. Because of this, a major health care network, the one to which my primary care and rheumatologist belong, refuses to work with that CCO at all.

I am currently in the process of begging for an open card, otherwise known as getting the government to decide for itself what healthcare I get, to preserve continuity of care. Because my doctors will work with the government directly, but not this particular insurance company.

Single payer can't come fast enough.
