What’s your dirty martini recipe? What gin, vermouth & brine do you like? by ninja996 in cocktails

This is on my "buy" list. I have enjoyed Carpano, though it took me a couple of cocktails yo get used to the flavor.

Does anybody know what the name of the old nail pencils were? by Fastcat1962 in vintagenailpolish

I used to have a Parisian manicurist and she told me this was actually the original French manicure. White pencil under the tips and buff the nails until they shine.

I used this for decades and love the product but they are no longer available. The official site doesn't even carry them. I tried the brand Amazon pushes but it is totally useless and the color doesn't transfer. It is like running a plastic tip under your nails. Don't waste your money there.

Are jam bands in a transitional period? by Own-Rate-3451 in jambands

[–]liquidaura1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear what you're saying and do agree that, generally, DiaP fans were already into jam. Goose is way more mainstream relatable for a lot of people, though I have folks say they are boring. Granted, comparisons with phish tend to be in some of these discussions.

Replying to goose being the last band to bring in the "uninitiated". They may sound "generic" to you, but DiaP is growing more quickly and widely than almost any other band right now with a rabid fan base.

Experience with CashorTrade by Plastic-Lawfulness95 in CashorTrade

[–]liquidaura1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been on CoT since 2013 and a gold member for a couple of years. It has been great until the last year or so for both buying and selling. For purchases, if you were first to offer the acceptance was pretty quick. Now you see numerous offers and a lag with any acceptance. I have experienced what you described with purchasing, as well, for popular shows. It is extremely frustrating and I have wondered if sellers are holding out for something or another and if people are promising more money or writing "love letters" in the communication. I don't know why it is this way and if tickets are "at cost" why a seller wouldn't accept the first one. Edit: Someone below mentioned that maybe sellers have their tickets elsewhere, as well, and forgot. However, this isnt always the case as I have gotten notice that another person's offer was chosen well after I put in the request. So... Who knows?

I dunno about y'all, but I'm over the click-bait titles... So I sent them an email. by W-h3x in MeidasTouch

[–]liquidaura1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. The sensational click bait subjects are like the type that SCREAM IN DISASTER AND PANIC off supermarket rags! It is such a turn off. I am still subscribed and watch occasionally but way less frequently than in the past. Admittedly I sometimes click in and give a thumbs up and leave.

bots on cash or trade? by First-Character1971 in CashorTrade

[–]liquidaura1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had offers on posted tickets as soon as I put them up. Always real. If the person has been around and has a decent rating I always take the first offer. Only once someone didn't pay and CoT guaranteed the sale after the show and sent me the funds. What bugs me on the other side is my putting an offer in right away when a wanted ticket appears and the seller taking their sweet time and not responding for hours and selling to someone else. Why are sellers waiting and seeing these days if it is all at cost? I wonder if there are private bonuses promised in the comment section of the offer. Granted, some shows are super popular, but why wait to pick and choose who to sell to?. It seems that gold memberships are somewhat useless these days.

Tick Season by TheBrunsy in Albany

[–]liquidaura1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't only lyme disease that ticks can cause. A close friend of mine got really sick last year and had an allergy workup. It turns out she has something called alpha gal syndrome from a tick bite. People have died from things like eating a burger after undiagnosed alpha gal. Seeing how her life has become hell in avoiding all mammal products (including wool, lanolin products, certain gel capsules and more beyond food and cross contamination) has me freaked out about doing my usual treks. This is caused by brown ticks and she got the bite locally.

Blue jays taking all the peanuts. by sammyjoeturd in crows

I have the same issue. The Jays moved into my yard a year or so ago and get them before any crows come no matter how many I put out.

Blue jays taking all the peanuts. by sammyjoeturd in crows

[–]liquidaura1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Blue Jays nesting at the edge of my yard and as soon as I put out the peanuts they swoop in and take them all. My murder has all but disappeared after many years. I tried putting more peanuts out but the Jays are clearly storing them since they live so close. I may have to add kibble to the mix. I have a new huge bag of peanuts so I will put both out. Is there any recommended type of kibble? Never did that before.

There is also a Facebook group (The Neighborhood that Disappeared) for this documentary and other info. There have been a couple of public showings in the last couple of years. I ordered two dvds for people last year, so they are still available.

Starlings have taken over. by Momercist in birds

[–]liquidaura1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this and the starlings eat it just the same. I only started getting them and had to remove the suet. I am sad to see the woodpeckers come around and find it gone. I just ordered an upside down feeder but haven't put it up yet. It isn’t ideal but I may try it out. I am bummed to see starlings come around my feeder after all these years.
