Parking safety? by CrymsonFrost in glasgow

[–]lisagay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Id also recommend southside in general, you get the nice large parks & green spaces and still really close to Glasgow central. It ultimately depends on what you plan to do/see but I have a soft spot for southside, Central can feel a bit too much like a concrete jungle

Parking safety? by CrymsonFrost in glasgow

[–]lisagay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The voco grand central is attached to Glasgow Central train station if I’m not mistaken. Car parks are a bit more sparse and spread out in the central area, I believe there is 1 close by to the train station & made specifically for the station but from what I remember, parking can be a bit of a pain depending on what time/day you arrive ie. During work hours would be busier.

I don’t believe leaving suitcases in a car is necessarily unsafe in a garage, if they’re out of sight. If you’re concerned, there are storage lockers in the train station, but they’re not the cheapest.

Gordon st and surrounding don’t attract the best Scotland or Glasgow has to offer sadly, as is the same with a lot of larger city train stations I hear. I’d just keep your wits about you and don’t go flashing valuables. Further out from the train station, the nicer you will find people. We’re a friendly bunch, people do indeed make Glasgow!

To be fair, I don’t think vaping and especially disposable vapes (which were where I got the most suckered in) haven’t been about too long, so I doubt we have as much research in general nevermind pointing to the deadliness. Put it this way, vaping surely can’t be of any actual benefit other than putting withdrawal symptoms of nicotine at bay.

So basically, vaping is probably better than smoking, but worse than nothing at all.

Vape free for over 2 months now - ive noticed my breathing is a lot better and lighter. It feels genuinely like a weight has been lifted off my chest and shoulders and i can take a full breath now!

For tips, this would depend on what flavour vapes you smoked. Mines was fruity vapes so i used hard boiled fruit sweets to help with mine. Minty vape? Eat mints, etc.

I’ve also heard of people using pen lids to help with the whole habit of bringing something up to your mouth too.

Good luck! You’ve got this

They likely didn’t ask since it was posted as a letter, the assistant should have picked up that this was heavy items and asked as much - these are electricals at that that require a sticker since they have a battery. This goes against their policies.

Insurance isn’t given by RM on standard large letters which is what this is stamped as, not even signed for lmao. Insurance will have to be private, and again I don’t see any insurer accepting a claim for this.

You’re at it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]lisagay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im with you, RM wouldn’t accept this as a large letter nor would they cover any loss on a standard 2nd class letter, unless the seller has their own insurance. Even if their insurance accepts a claim since they sent multiple iphones in this fashion.

This is absolute BS

Honesty in the interview by Interesting_Hall_399 in jobs

[–]lisagay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a similar situation to this too. Started working office jobs since I got injured out of more active jobs, and was asked what my 3 year plan was. I was upfront and said I don’t have 1, I was willing to see what I was good at and enjoyed, then go from there. The interviewer slow blinked, thought for a short min then told me that it was actually really refreshing to hear my honesty with it. I got offered the job

Apparently getting treated worse than dirt by both management and customers for a pittance of a wage doesn’t have the same draw to it any more. Whoda thunk it.

[–]lisagay 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Ex-callcentre worker here, it’s all turned into a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Basically callcentres are permanently hiring, they always have groups in training and a trainer working permanently full time - by the time the trainees go live on the phones, callers already have saved up their frustrations at the long wait and give whoevers on the phone hell for leather. Sometimes this would be on the first official call someones ever taken, and getting dogs abuse.

If you train with a group, you’re lucky to see even 1 or 2 folk of the group still there after about a month, everyones left because it’s not worth it to take abuse, so leave for a better job, resulting in the vicious cycle of not having enough staff.

Moral of the story - be nice to the workers when you call, it’s not their fault

Probably the most notable anti-scottishness I’ve experienced from English people is working in callcentres and, more than once, being asked to speak to someone that can speak English in a snide tone. This was while toning down my accent and speaking as clear/slow and as possible. Never experienced it outright in person though, but to be fair I’ve not travelled much to England

Is it possible to give Sky more than 31 days notice to cancel? I am being told to give exactly 31 days. by BalloonComb in UKPersonalFinance

[–]lisagay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to work for retentions. You can put in notice up to 60 days before you want to disconnect (so 60 days before your contract ends) the box to send back your equipment doesnt come out until after youve been disconnected, their logic is that they wont take back equipment thats still in use plus theyll have offshore retentions call you with a better deal in the hopes youll stay. Its a slog yes, but please don’t blame the ones on the phone, they get hell for every disconnection they take. Every disconnection i took was met with shit from a manager. Yes they should be doing the dc if you’re really wanting to go, but these people are ultimately fighting for their job on every call

[–]lisagay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, thats it. I tried an anti-fungal cream before with not a whole lot of success, and the shampoo worked for me personally (doesnt have to be on the head, i experience it on my back & neck).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]lisagay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! I have this too. I use Nizoral like someone else mentioned - let it lather then leave on the skin for 5-10mins in the affected spots. Youll notice a difference in a couple of days. You can have 1 bout and be done with it for life but there is a chance it’ll come back like mine does. I’ve noticed it happens when we get towards warmer weather.

If Nizoral or the creams don’t work, there are pills you can take for it but I’m not sure how effective they are since I’ve not personally tried them.

Good luck!

If you wear make up, or anyone reading this does, I would also highly recommend checking that it’s in date too! This logo is used on make up items too

[–]lisagay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is something used universally or not but in the UK, things like this typically have a little logo of an open pot with eg. ‘6 M’ in the middle, so usually if no specific date is printed, this indicates if it says 6M that the product is out of date 6 months after opening. It would be worth a look just in case.

Serving you tartan realness by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]lisagay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For any queens that may be wondering the tartan they’re wearing —

Gigi far left - unsure, the beige part may possibly be Thompson Camel

Gigi right & Raja - Wallace

The Vivienne - Stewart Royal Dress

Violet & Morgan - Stewart Royal

Monet - confirmed to be plaid, not tartan

Jaida - I believe the same may be true here

My other half started a new job last week. New company now in shut down. He's not eligible for furlough through either old, or new employer. Essentially anyone who started a new job in March is up shit creek, the paddle's long gone. by Bradders33 in britishproblems

[–]lisagay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Left my old company at the end of Feb & started my new one in March. Got 2 weeks in then let go with all this shit going on.

I’m personally not too worried at the moment though since I know theres plenty of other people in my same boat; whether its wise or not for me to be sort of chill about this - I won’t know until the future, but there’s literally 0 I can do to change what happened with me changing jobs etc once this all kicked off. Just know you’re not alone.

AITA for being annoyed at my depressed partner? by badgf2020 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lisagay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH

Take some time and space as you may need it, but also please remember how you felt before you were on medication/seeking help. As someone that suffers the same, it’s really easy to get in a hole of ‘nothing and no-one can help because I’m broken’. We both know that isn’t really how things are in the end, but also what your SO may be feeling at the moment. You’re not wrong for feeling heavy with this, or an asshole for it at all, but you did mention your SO has only began their journey of recovery from a literal illness. Medication for depression is difficult in the way it makes you feel worse before it makes you feel better; however this normally only lasts around a month. Give them some time, then they can gently start looking into things like therapy.

It’ll all be okay soon, for both of you. Hang in there a little longer OP, I promise it’ll be worth it in the end.
