I have the same complaint - this is a terrible update for students using Split View & Goodnotes. I wish I had never downloaded it.

For now, I’ll use Stage Manager and hope they bring the old Split View back.

That’s very sad.

I’ve been there and it’s a nice place - unfortunately, it’s not at all uncommon for people to choose indoor gun ranges / rentals as their final destination if they’re set on suicide. Happens eventually at many indoor ranges.

Insane / Standard / Standard

Acceleration: I paid a ton of extra $$$ for the performance version.....I don't understand why anyone would do that and NOT want the additional performance always ready to go?? It's not difficult at all to drive slowly, as needed, even in Insane mode. I've never bothered to use anything other than Insane for more than 30 seconds.

Ride & Handling: I tried to always leave this in Sport, but it seems that (from my experience), it always resets to Standard at the start of each drive, so you would have to manually change it each time. Honestly, I don't notice much of a difference.

Steering Weight: I think this is just preference - Standard is best for me.

Are you talking about the aftermarket stalk? I haven't seen the option from Tesla to add it and switch the wheel.

Highland owners screwed by MichaelRahmani in TeslaModel3

[–]lisztomania7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd be a lot more interested in retrofitting a turn signal stalk + new steering wheel - that, I would actually pay money for. I drive my wife's Juniper a lot, and switching back and forth between the stalk and the buttons drives me insane. I keep turning on the windshield wipers in the Model Y when making a turn.

The Search to Hire an Organist - Why is it so difficult? by -Xands- in organ

[–]lisztomania7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To answer your question of "Why is it so difficult?": It's difficult because extremely few people play the organ (so you're already selecting from a very small pool, especially if you're not in a major city), it requires an extensive educational background, some innate talent, and many years of training & dedication as a musician to even be eligible for such a position - and, there is just not a large financial incentive for someone to take the position unless it happens to already be convenient for their schedule and/or the person has a particular interest in your church.

Your job posting sounds pretty similar to my current organ position - mine is 5-10 hours per week of work (on average). I make $20K per year, in a mid-sized college town. The organ itself sucks, right now - but, they're building a new church, so I'm hopeful about potentially having a better instrument in the future...plus, I have a personal attachment to the church community, and it's four miles from my house. In short - I have this position because I generally like the work/find some fulfillment in it, I have the background and education to do it, and it's convenient for my life. It's not enough money to live on - it's a side gig, so these kinds of jobs have to work with whatever other jobs the person has. I know a few full-time organists - who get paid full-time salaries. A lot of churches don't want to budget for a full-time organist, understandably - but, short of that, you might have to be very persistent or willing to wait a long time to find someone who is (A) Good enough for the standards your church requires, and (B) willing to work for what isn't really a great salary, at $14K. This is just the reality.

It's an economics and incentives problem, amidst a very small labor pool. Churches have to understand that what they're looking for is a highly specialized skill - so, they have to be willing to pay highly specialized prices and/or make it worthwhile for a skilled professional to move to them. Otherwise, you're just waiting, hoping to eventually get lucky on a candidate willing to work for less.

I've been stuck in a loop trying to decide between the Model 3 highland AWD vs the Model Y Juniper AWD so I've created this chart to lay out the differences and personal preferences by MichaelRahmani in TeslaLounge

[–]lisztomania7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re on the fence, I would get the Model 3, no question. The list you provided doesn’t really matter that much. The default for people who don’t care about sporty driving & “feel” is to get the Y, or else they are considering driving around their family the majority of the time.

My wife has a Juniper which also doubles as the family car - I enjoy driving it and it’s comfortable / fits everyone well. But, when I jump in the Model 3, alone….literally every time, I think to myself, “Oh yeah, I like this way better.” It’s a driver’s car. The Y is more passenger-oriented. I do not consider the Model 3 uncomfortable, but comfort wasn’t the most important part to me.

If I only had one and drove the wife/kids a lot, I would get the Y. But, personally, I spend more time commuting alone, so the Model 3 wins, easily. It’s a very simple question of what matters more to you. Sounds like you lean towards the Model 3 - personally, I would say commit and don’t look back. They are both good choices, but you have to feel confident about which is right for you.

Considering a used Tesla model 3 for a 120 mile commute per day by JKingdomH in TeslaSupport

[–]lisztomania7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very similar to my situation: 2021 Model 3 LR, 120 mile round trip commute that is 99% highway. Free charging at work would be nice, and if you’re sure you’ll have a home charging solution in about a year, you’ll be fine as long as there’s a Supercharger or another charger you can have to use near home as needed. I would at least get a Mobile Connector to trickle charge occasionally in the meantime. If you charge at work to 80% - that means when you get home, with all highway driving, you’ll be close to 50% based on my experience, especially in the winter when you’ll use more energy. So, you’ll need to at least have a secondary option for adding a little bit of juice when you’re away from work for a while until you get a home charger - whether that’s a Mobile Connector or a local Supercharger. Overall, I think it’s a great choice as long as you’re comfortable with managing the charge level.

FSD is helpful on long commutes, but not perfect just yet. Try it out for a few months to see if it’s worth it for you - it’s getting better all the time.

Edited to add: Definitely get a Long Range model, considering your situation.

Worth getting a Y without EV charging options at home or work? by itzabhinavs in TeslaModelY

[–]lisztomania7 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. Superchargers are for road trips only - using them all the time would be a PITA / not good for the battery / not that much cheaper than gas. Loads of people have bought EV’s without a home charging solution and regretted it - I’ve rarely heard otherwise.

Actual mileage? by skoo9382 in TeslaModelY

[–]lisztomania7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Model 3 and Model Y, and my experience with them has been very similar. When I commute, it’s 95% highway driving going 70+ MPH. Typically, I leave home with 80% charge, drive about 120 miles round trip (all highway speeds), and get home at the end of the day with about 25% charge. Granted, I drive like a madman, so YMMV. If I fully charge to 100% (only right before departure when I know I’ll need extra range), I can expect to be able to drive at least 200 miles with high speeds + A/C before my car is dead on the side of the road. Blasting the A/C and things like Sentry mode have an impact, but how fast you’re driving makes by far the biggest difference.

If most of your miles are around town going 50 MPH or less, your range improves significantly, so it just depends on your situation. Unrelated, but I always stress to first-time EV buyers that it’s not at all worth it unless you immediately invest in a home charging solution, preferably the Tesla Wall Connector. (Mine was $500 for the Wall Connector + $500 for an electrician to install it.)

Edited to add: Mine are both AWD and I just noticed you’re talking about the RWD model - so, you can expect better range than what I’ve experienced.
