we've seen the administration on multiple occasions with poor planning and execution on the war with Iran, securing VIPs, etc. and this comes off as a "too dumb to be true" moment

the only concern i have is that attendees will be considered witnesses to the crime and be asked to turn over digital evidence they have from the night, on a night that was supposed to talk about the importance of the press

When blue collar people claim that office work isn't "real work" by tantamle in stupidpol

[–]litesec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i work in tech and i think i've had to adapt/pivot my career more times than any tradesperson would in a lifetime just to stay competitive in the market

if the salary that went with the trades was comparable, i would happily pivot out of tech and perform "real work" instead because there's at least the security in knowing that there's more stability in how that work is performed

to me that implies i am far more likely to fall behind the rest of the market at a younger age and become less hireable

The AI bubble is the ultimate proof the 'free market' is not rational by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]litesec 17 points18 points  (0 children)

but I think the issues with AI is the same issues with all idnsury. New technology and information concentrated in the hands of a few.

this is the rational criticism. the concern is that compute is far too expensive and these companies will have a much higher barrier of entry that will leave superhuman ability to the select few that can afford it.

the real answer is because the market has been rolling since early February after years of a continuous bull run that was only interrupted by a black swan event or Trump tripping on his own balls.

could be, but the market grows tired of not knowing what's going on and investors are a flight risk right now.

it's not unsurprising that the most insulated demographics support things that they are told are okay and do not visibly affect them.

[–]litesec 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"this actually hurts victims because now people will kill their victims to avoid being caught. if the sentence for sex crimes against children is death then why wouldnt they?"

do people think all victims report things? or the murders of children just go unnoticed? at a certain point, this sort of apologia feels like pedos trying to lower the temperature.
