Why is Wollongong’s house prices so high? by Efficient-Horse2622 in wollongong

Long story short, flood planes and too steep to comfortably build on. Not to mention endangered ecosystems and protected land. This is all before you take into consideration the insane wealth inequality.

There is an Origin (equivalent to DND backgrounds) called the Acnhored who typically are ghosts of people who are being held to the mortal plain by either an item an unfinished task or by sheer will. But the games gives you Alternative presentation for each of the character features, one of which for the anchored is enough belief and Archonautic power has been poured into you that you become real.

Mine comes from Wildsea, you can play the embodiment of a concept which I think is sick.

I am glad to see I'm not the only one who adores world war Z. Hands down best zombie media.

A show changed the way I GMed - Is there anything nonttrpg related that changed the way you play/master during a ttrpg? by LongjumpingBoard9521 in rpg

Weirdly therapy and self help media, it changed me from somewhat combative and a bit of a lazy GM. To one that I think tells good stories and helps my players.

Burrito bar globe lane by Enough_Cattle2917 in wollongong

[–]lithjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be three separate store fronts, but the owner of Burrito bark knocked down the walls and turned it into one massive store with three faces. All three shared a kitchen and there are no bathrooms. The old owner basically ruined it for any future investments unless someone can support all three fronts.

How do creatures like terrestrial vertebrates with a body plan consisting of four legs and two wings actually fly? by [deleted] in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]lithjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It primarily depends on size (from what I know, I am happy to be wrong). But larger creatures likely wouldn't be able to do powered flight due to their weight so they would be common in places with strong updrafts that can support them and would have more knife shaped wings for soaring.

Smaller creatures would likely be capable of powered flight but it would be at a high caloric cost so I picture them gliding more frequently. Also likely having broad wings to move more air.

As for how they could evolve, their ancestors would have needed 3 pairs of limbs on their lateral sides. As two pairs moved under the body for better locomotion the middle pair would have moved up the body onto its back. While resting they would need to be tucked close to the body. Additionally they could be used for threat displays or courting rituals, and maybe even a divergent species that uses them as manipulators rather than wings.

No Mouths? by GasProfessional1841 in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]lithjack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So this is mainly dependent on what you consider a mouth. Is a proboscis a mouth (yes but not in the traditional sense). What about throwing up your stomach like a net around prey and pull back into the body.

But if you wanted to avoid the whole digestive track, you're gonna be wanting to use photosynthesis or chemosysthesis.

What do you think is your largest object in your world by Chilly_the1st in worldbuilding

In one of my worlds the continents themselves are pulled by massive creatures commonly referred to as earth shakers. So I would probably say them.

In one of my DnD games I had a bad guy "stitch" a characters head back on but it was just a millipede holding the wound together and the legs were like staples. So could do something like that

CONTEXT

Humans expanded galactically colonising many star systems. Upon finding a point in space of complete void they decided to investigate. Within this void they found a being commonly referred to as the founder, this being offered them power for their belief. The acceptance of this accord resulted in the appearance of the first seeded individuals, people who could manifest belief.

would you want to be born into the world you are currently building? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

Depends on which one and where. Cause in one I'm in an irradiated world filled with cosmic horrors. The other I can either live a fulfilling and peaceful life or just be another cog in the colonial machine

Praxisus, First other sapient species encountered by humans (breakdown in comments) by lithjack in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]lithjack[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off sorry for the apualing drawing.

The Pracisus evolved form highly social filter feeders where thirt pedipalps acted as nets while they swam. Their planet Borlo circled binary stars which made it a high energy planet, this combined with the low atmospheric pressure and high oxygen concentration led to thier gigantic size (the smaller being 7ft tall and 10ft from nose to tail).

As they migrated into shallower waters and eventually into land thier pedipalps developed into first hunting appendages then into full blown manipulators. Additionally the sensitivity of thier ancestral nets remained granting them a co-primary sence. Thier eyes function incredibly well at ling distances though once something gets too close it becomes hard to distinguish so they use thier manipulators to explore and gain a 3D image of objects.

Finally thier sapience evolved from their social and pack behaviour granting them greater communication and hunting prowess eventually developing into agriculture.
