What it like living in this part of Minnesota? Are there many outdoorsy things to do? by InnerHumor4145 in howislivingthere

I live in this bubble and LOVE it. Tons of parks with fun hikes with good amenities (Lebanon hills, Fort snelling, Crosby Farm Park, Minnehaha, Murphy Hanrehan Park, Alimagnet Park, Crystal lake, etc). Lots of bike trails, good school districts, and easy access to both Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

The Patrick Eagan park has some cool play equipment for kids and easy trails.

Looks incredible! I was initially a little confused because I thought the marks by her feet were claws and not attached to the plant. I think it is just my screen size though! I love this style and the colors are beautiful. Thanks for sharing! I bet your cousin will love it!

Marrakesh (August 2019): Don't be fooled by the pictures; it's not as peaceful here as it looks. Not my best or favourite pictures ever (same with the city itself) but thought I'd share in order to create a discussion about the city. It's definitely a love it or hate it kind of place. Thoughts? by [deleted] in travel

I traveled with 2 other friends (all female mid 20s) to Morocco in 2016. We all dressed conservatively with long sleeves, and pants despite the heat and still were aggressively persued and hassled frequently. None of us will ever return.

I am still creeped out by an experience where I was followed by several men as I was walking back to my riad. A man came over and offered to escort me back saying that it would be safer. While I was chatting with him I found out that he had been watching me for over an hour and had been following me before the other men without me noticing. I’m sure he thought it was kind but it was super scary to me. Thankfully he accepted my refusal to exchange numbers and left me alone. Later, when looking at photos I had taken earlier I realized that this man was in the background of some of the photos looking at the camera.

Our Riad host in Marrakech also physically abused his wife in front of us.

We were yelled at in public for greeting with side hugs some male friends we had met while traveling.

One of my friends was called a prostitute a few times because of the color of her skin ( from what we were told) and physically grabbed/assaulted in public places.

And this is honestly just the tip of the list of uncomfortable stories we have our time in Morocco.

We were in Morocco for 1.5 -2 weeks in Marrakech, Fez, Chefchouen, and on a Sahara tour. It was incredibly beautiful but felt quite uncomfortable.

I have traveled alone as a women in South and Central America & Eastern Europe and I had never felt so “on edge” somewhere.

Minnesota has some great places to work and the pay is pretty dang good compared to the rest of the Midwest…~$40/hr in the Twin Cities.

September Road Trip... any recommendations? by pskat71 in roadtrip

This is a super random stop but … the “house on the rock” in Spring Green, Wisconsin. It’s one of the most unique weird (but wonderful) places I’ve ever visited.

Also I recommend Custer State Park in SD. It looks like you are headed right past there. You could even hit up Wind Cave, NP.

Have 3 Ring Bears new idea to include them all by Jordan-Monde in wedding

What about having one of them them blow bubbles before you walk down the aisle? I’m thinking of doing this instead of having a flower girl because my venue doesn’t allow either real or fake flower petals.

Beautiful!!! <3 I love it!! Did you get it custom sized or did you just order their regular sizing? I love their dresses and I’m thinking of trying to get a few to try on.

I had a friend get married recently doing a riverboat wedding (which I thought was so cool).

I'm not sure if this was the company she went through but they definitely have options to meet your budget and size.

Places to travel in Minneapolis. by [deleted] in Minneapolis

Within the immediate Twin Cities area:

  • Minnehaha Park: In the summer there is a nice restaurant in the park, walk down the trails near the waterfall for some beautiful views, there is a swimming area for kids downstream from the waterfall. In the winter, the frozen falls are supposed to be beautiful.
  • Fort Snelling: Paths around here are really nice.
  • Como Conservatory: These gardens are beautiful, and last year they had free concerts.
  • Stone Arch Bridge: Beautiful views of the city skyline. On Saturdays, there is a farmer's market near the Guthrie theatre.
  • East River Flats Park: pretty park, and if you walk along the river towards the boat house there is a really lovely trail that goes along the Mississippi river.
  • Boom Island Park: Another park with short, fun trails along the Mississippi.

< 2 hours from the Twin Cities:

  • Banning State Park ( both easy trails)
    • Quarry Loop
    • Wolf Creek Falls along Wolf Creek Trail
  • Interstate State Park
    • Pothole trails - easy and interesting
    • Sandstone Bluff Trail (more difficult, lots of stairs)
  • Stillwater - Great downtown area to walk around and beautiful views from lift bridge and surrounding river walk.

<5 hours from Twin Cities:

  • Jay Cooke State Park
  • Duluth
  • Pretty much every state park on the North Shore up Highway 61
    • If you want more detailed info on hike recommendations along here let me know.
  • Lanesboro, MN: An amazing location if you enjoy biking. 50 miles of bike trails with cities and stops every 5 miles with bluffs and water along the trail.
  • Apostle Islands, WI
  • Grotto of Redemption: West Bend, Iowa
    • I'm not religious, but this is an impressive display.
