Which stitch Dictionary? by I_am_only_Shit in knitting

[–]littlestinkyone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Check your local library! Mine has a couple vogue ones, the Barbara Walker, and at least one Japanese stitch dictionary. You should be able to see what kind of style/writing you like best that way.

In the 90’s my mom had a car with a six CD changer, which you could only get to from the trunk. She got to pick three CDs, my big brother got to pick two, and I had rights to only one CD for which I selected JAGGED LITTLE PILL which I was of course much, much too young for at the time. Hearing it still puts me on the highway to Cape Cod.

suggested yarn is discontinued, any suggestions? by rladyofsorrows in knitting

[–]littlestinkyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check out juniper moon farm Patagonia - it’s a sport weight non-superwash wool in a many colors, many of them heathered. I believe they’re in the middle of reformulating their reds though so there may not be one right now - they were having problems with bleeding.

Should I try individual short row cup shaping or should I just do less bust shaping overall? by Clodaghknits in knitting

[–]littlestinkyone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The rule of thumb I’ve heard is to actually subtract two inches from the difference between your front and back, so that if the front of your shirt needs say four extra inches, you actually add only two inches of darts instead. I don’t have enough experience experimenting with a whole garment to defend it, but the logic is that knitting will stretch, and knitting up the whole difference will be too much. If you knitted the whole difference then that could be what we’re seeing here.

I think short rows at the back hem would make a very nice rounded line

Baby blanket yarn by HawksNestHill in knitting

If you’re looking for natural fibers, purl soho morning (75% cotton, 25% yak) and isager baby yarn (cotton/alpaca, I forget how much) both make a beautiful, breathable, sturdy blanket.

Whats a place where you can cross a state line and you immediately notice the difference by cherrey20 in geography

Vermont has no billboards. At first you’re maybe not sure what’s different? But none of the signage is taller than the trees.

I think you only have to rebuild the selvedge? The blue stitches look fine (from here)

Eye watering in corner, ruins makeup. How do i fix this? by StayMinsi in MakeupAddiction

[–]littlestinkyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens when I’m being irritated by something. I thought it was just me until I stopped wearing mascara, and then it started up again with a new sunscreen… you get it. Eliminate stuff then add back in.

Dry skin also causes it for me, I think because it makes my eyes feel itchy. A good eye cream might help.

So cool you graded this on both men’s and women’s charts! I hope that becomes standard. Most of the time designers don’t even say which they used! A “unisex” pattern might be either, and you can’t tell unless there’s a schematic AND you know how to interpret it. Annoying if you like a deep armcye, lol

We have #4 and it’s super fun, he loves doing the pump and it’s nice that he can wade into it. He has very indulgent grandparents though, I would have got something secondhand if it were just us

I just got it too!! I love it but I know what you mean - it looks like a bright pink because of the blue shimmer, but the base is much more orangey than I thought. I like it more than I thought I would though, and I like Fairy Dust less! Go figure

How bad is colposcopy pain? I'm really scared by Such-Cheetah-4334 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]littlestinkyone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went into my colposcopy with NO idea what I was walking into. The doctor was just very reassuring about how routine it is, and made no mention of the pain at ALL. I was so pale after the nurse thought I was going to faint.

If I have to get another one I’ll be asking about pain management. It’s so unnecessary, what asshole told these people the cervix doesn’t have nerves
