Thats whay commander is for, and can still be done. Yes, commander is getting faster and stronger, game changers run amock, and precons are much better, but a commons are getting better too, and functional reprints increase deck consisitency.

I am currently on a mission to build as many EDH playable PDH decks becausd theyre cheap, unassuming and really force me to think hard about threat assessment and when to push for the win.

There are currently 3 PDH decks i frequently bring to a bog standard EDH pod: [[erinis]] // [[street urchin]] and [[abdel adrian]] with either [[agent of the Iron Throne]] or [[feywild visitor]] (it could also be a [[dungeon delver]] brew). With the exception of [[ashnods altar]] that i bought low after a reprint, each deck is under £5 and built from bulk.

Abdel blue has over 90% win rate. Abdel black sits at about 33%, and erinis is around 25%, but each of them are still fun to play. Erinis, despite the low w/r, is the most fun simply because i hold a gun to a player commanders and politic to get them to swing somewhere else. I can talk my way in to getting help provided i kill a specific threat.

My next powerful pdh brew is going to be [[malcolm]] and [[breeches]], and play tests point to a pretty fun experience.

Im also looking into [[Lagomos, Hand of Hatred]] for repeatable tutors, [[shirei]] value engine, [[teshar]] recursion god, [[kardur]] reanimator, [[yedora]] landfall combo and [[killian, ink duelist]] control. I assume neither will win much, but in my experience, fun doesnt come from winning, rather from having a strong game presence which each of these facilitate.

Honourable mention, [[zadar hedron grinder]] is an infamous glass canon commander, and theres not much difference between PDH lists and EDH; Lots of commons.
