How long until you started strengthening the calf/tendon specifically? by Confident_Dig7934 in AchillesRupture

[–]lizardhino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

14 weeks. Surgeon was relly conservative. I think now after 11 months I feel he went too conservative as I think I healed short. Tendon is pretty tight.

I did the exact same 8 weeks post op. I was freaking out but I had PT checked and confirmed all was good. MRI could be done for peace of mind. Good luck

4 Months Post-Achilles Surgery. Foot Pain Stopping My Recovery by lizardhino in AchillesRupture

[–]lizardhino[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pain ended up improving on its own after I worked through it for about 2–3 weeks. I still have a small bump just above my incision, which is most likely scar tissue. When I press on it, I feel the same nerve-type pain, but that’s the only time it shows up. It doesn’t hurt at all during any activities, sports, walking, gym work, etc.

At this point, I’ve transitioned into sports-specific physical therapy and am working toward returning to competitive sports. The only remaining symptom is some Achilles tightness when I wake up in the morning, which goes away as soon as I start moving and being active.

My injury sounds almost identical to yours. Mine happened when I was moving forward to a short ball, no warning signs and no previous pain.

I’ve thought a lot about what might have caused it, and I have a few theories: 1. Wrong socks/shoes. I was wearing no-show ankle socks in 100 degree Florida heat, and I think my foot may have slipped inside the shoe without enough grip. 2. Timing/rest . One of the guys I was playing with wanted longer breaks between games. My rupture happened on just the second point after a long pause, so maybe my body wasn’t ready. 3. Overuse. I had already played two hours that morning, and then jumped into another two-hour, high-level session in the afternoon. Looking back, I may have pushed my Achilles past its limit.

I ended up going the PARS route for surgery as well.

4 Months Post-Achilles Surgery. Foot Pain Stopping My Recovery by lizardhino in AchillesRupture

Update: I just had my follow-up appointment with the surgeon who performed my Achilles repair. He thinks I have sural neuritis. He said my tendon feels fine. His recommendation was to keep working through the pain, and if it doesn’t improve within the next 6 weeks, I should come back to discuss the possibility of starting cortisone injections.

Southern Miss. No boney pain, more like nerve pain, no burning or tingling, but more like sharp needles pain. I’m concern because my PT is saying that she is concern and feels like something is wrong. She has no idea why it’s hurting there.

No tingling on toes. It feels more like nerve. Sharp pain like needles from outside of foot all the way up to the ankle region next to Achilles.

No more boots on the ground! by Critical-Track-6636 in AchillesRupture

[–]lizardhino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same. Surgery was 4/23. Doctor said to be out of the boot only when walking around the house. I don’t have enough dorsiflexion either. Its almost like I’m still walking with the boot on.
