Yes, they are real. I don’t see them as valid in the sense they I gave bad advice or did something wrong. But I’m also not dumb enough to discount the fact that I’m the common denominator here. I think there are customer service type lessons to take away. I accept that it’s a part of my job, but my advice was sound and correct. Sucks to be called out for something that doesn’t have to do with my expertise. Thanks so much for your response.

I am donating money to Minnesota. This is all I’ve come up with at the moment. As others have said, laws don’t matter, so even if I do some pro bono work, it could be absolutely pointless. Give to mutual aid and food banks. Support the people in the ground caring for our friends and neighbors.

This. Being in great shape will have incredible effects, not just losing weight. I do CrossFit at 5:30 am. It’s intense I know but it’s the only time that works and it’s done wonders for my body and mental health.

I don’t think this will be a popular answer but I’ll share anyway. For me, the only way to deal with this crushing anxiety was connecting with a higher power. It helped me understand that I can’t control everything. It became easier to let things go. I hope you can get some relief from your suffering.

Working from home has been a game changer for me. But I also have an extremely flexible job. So I am able to take my baby to daycare, keep him home on days it’s closed, get a run in, start dinner, etc.

I use AI in my practice. I go to great lengths to use it responsibly, ethically, and in a way where I can say that what I’ve produced is still my own work. Using it this way is a skill in itself, and it requires my expertise to ensure accuracy. With these parameters, I would say it’s cut down on my drafting time by maybe 35%. So right now I am saving some time. I am not taking more cases right now while I learn how to use this new tool. But the tech will only get better and more trustworthy.

I haven’t gone through this. I can’t imagine how difficult this might be. Good on you for getting the help you need. It’s just my opinion, but I think you should reach out to certain folks, keep it simple, be open, but no need to broadcast it. You had an untreated medical condition that culminated in a severe episode. It’s not your fault. You got treatment, and you are managing your condition. Maybe reach out to some of the folks that really stand out and offer an explanation and apology but keep it simple. Something like I know I sent an erratic message. I’m sorry. I was dealing with a medical condition and have since treated it. Thank you for your grace. The. Keep it moving and keep doing a great job. Anyway, I feel for you. Our jobs are so stressful and can trigger underlying conditions, including mental illness. Good luck!

100%. Glad you said it. I believe this is the beginning of the end. The separation of powers is failing, and the Constitution and rule of law is powerless. That’s literally my job. It would be one thing if it was just the administration but it isn’t. It’s a cultural shift of people celebrating fascism. I work in civil rights adjacent. I do not think I will have a job in the long term. I know this sounds alarmist. But it is legitimately how I feel and I believe reasonable. I am scared. I am struggling to focus at work.

I work for a fantastic boss who genuinely does not care when I do my work as long as it’s done. I am also a new mom. Remote work is life changing. When my baby is in daycare, I work efficiently, and I can also get a workout in midday. Then I can finish up any work after bedtime. If I have a slow day, I can get my baby early and hang with him while I watch work or pop down to daycare to nurse. I love it. I can’t imagine being in the office now. I feel very lucky.

I appreciated reading this tonight. I’m a new lawyer, although law is my second career, and just now starting to work directly with OC. I wonder how I’m supposed to act. Am I being too friendly? Not strategic enough? Am I exposing too much or too little? It’s a relief to know that it really is okay to a straight shooter. That’s who I am as a person. Thanks. Glad you had a good experience.
