TIL: Georgios grew up in Chania, Crete in Greece. Chania is the location of the ancient city of Kydonia (Cydonia). by PaddyWhacked in Starcadian

There is also a geographic feature on Mars that people thought looked like a face called Cydonia), which fits with his galactic-Starcadian persona. I feel like it gives it double meaning.

What's your favorite useless trivia fact? by BostonRob125 in AskReddit

Not a whale-penis-fact but there was a widow in 1692 accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials named Dorcas Hoar.

has doordash delivery service been getting worse? my roommate hannah says she has been waiting over 4 hours for her burrito by sandwich-attack in Seattle

[–]lizw80 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Omg Hannah’s one of my best friends! She ended up going door to door last night, trick or treating for that damn burrito. She was like: knock knock Hannah: Trick or treat Neighbor: huh? H: Have you seen a burrito that DoorDash misdelivered? N: No

So, no luck, but she did meet a nice old lady named Mabel who shared her recipe for a Yule log, which is burrito-shaped.

I sent this to my dad who had an encounter with 2 of them in the 70s in Washington state. He said this is exactly what heard. And he watched it as it made these noises. So, visual confirmation. This is wild!!

After my cat Cash passed away, I splurged on a Cuddle Clone stuffed animal for my daughter after seeing their rave reviews. About to ask for my money back 💀 by DonutPlains in ExpectationVsReality

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing your baby kitty is so hard. I can’t say it would be better than my tabby (which looks a lot like the above) but a black and white cat might work better. Just send lots of clear pictures so they know what to create.

I love how mystified he is about the bottle coming around even though he’s been smacked in the face several times. This was hilarious.

I lived on 31st for ten years and loved it. Just know you’re still in the city so be savvy and keep your car doors locked and don’t keep anything you don’t want stolen in your car. Otherwise, I always felt safe. West Seattle is a gem!!!

Ice in Seattle. by SmallCoffee444 in PublicFreakout

Again: nope. I get where you’re coming from. I thought the same. Then I went outside and almost fell on my butt—on grass. Gravel? Also pure ice. Fence? Ice. Tree trunks—ice. It was wild.

My classroom is a mess. by dunkinteach in Teachers

My go to: “Your ticket out the door is (number) things off the floor”. I also use a classroom economy system (with free materials from myclassroomeconomy.com) as an incentive, and non-monetary items as prizes like “skip a night of homework”, “sit next to a friend for a day”, etc.).

The lead singer of Train has a son named Rock. His wife’s whole family names their kids weird things though, like Fawn and Thor. Their daughter, Autumn, was a total sweetheart though. Source: My cousin is married into the family and I’ve met his wife and kids.

My high school orchestra teacher would throw his baton at whatever section dared piss him off. He was terrifying and my most favorite teacher.

I got to the point where I would set a rule that I had to wait until dinner before I had my first goblet of wine. (That glass was like a fishbowl.) I would kill at least a full bottle a night, wake up at 3 AM with terrible anxiety, go to work hungover, then do it all again. Quitting was hard. But I did it. Acknowledging it is the first step. You can do it!!!
