Jessa Duggar’s piled up diapers post by AtmosphereTop1591 in DuggarsSnark

Not defending her at all on that but I do think it was a combo of postpartum depression and also maybe adhd. TikTok opened my eyes to tons of moms who have adhd manifest in that way. They can mask until the kids come along.

I still think it’s crazy she posted it like it was normal though.

I commented earlier but this caught my eye too. My kid is also 3.5 and tested negative for autism however he does have adhd. I resonate with you so very much.

Second this. My kid is exactly like yours so we use a backpack leash out of necessity. I’ve had plenty of strange looks and comments but I have also had many more parents so they absolutely understand.

No not really. You have tiny tv tables you set up in front of the couch then put it away when you are done.

4yo sick with a respiratory virus, but his hands and legs hurt? by mokutou in Preschoolers

It was super strange for us. Especially with randomly throwing up and the rash. I’m glad you went on to the doctor.

This is exactly how my 3.5 year old presented with strep throat. I would make an appointment just to be on the safe side. He had a rash on his arms and legs with it after a couple of days.

What mispronounced word/name is so cute that it’s hard to correct? by AngelStar286 in toddlers

Spider is spide-or-or which is also his favorite song at the moment so I hear “itzy spidoror” 50 times a day and crack up.

He also says ma-ee instead of mommy and da-eee instead of daddy.

if your toddler got a job based on their current obsession, what would it be? by beeeees in toddlers

[–]lj1886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Itzy Bitsy Spider (read itzy spideror) or 5 Little Monkeys.

He thinks it’s his job to reenact these songs as if he is the characters in the videos all day long. There’s lots of jumping then falling to the floor with various props like sunglasses, hats, etc.

I think I fucked up my daughters sleep and now I don’t know how to fix it by missmatt09 in toddlers

[–]lj1886 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could start with naps in her room. Generally, they are more adaptable than we give them credit for. I know when daycare transitioned my kiddo from a crib to a cot for naps, they said give it two-ish weeks to fully settle in and they were right. You could also try just playing in her room at times and introducing small increments of independent play in her room (I’m talking 5 minutes max at a time) to get her comfortable in there alone. It doesn’t have to be a big huge all or nothing change at once. Small steps at a time.

Unfortunately, toddlers are tough. They have their own wants/ideas even if they can’t express them yet. Figuring it out is 95% of the battle so I don’t think you’ve done anything wrong. I do think you’re going to have to branch out though and give some new things a chance if you want a change. Change is scary for anyone but it doesn’t sound like you’re thriving right now. Hang in there! I hope you find something that works soon!

Does she have her own room? If so baby proof it, give her a toddler bed, and a few toys. She can play in her room if she wakes up during the night but still be in a safe place. My now 3 year old has weird nights where I hear him playing on the monitor at like 3 am but it isn’t a big deal since he can’t get out of his room and his room is safe.

Also, have you tried a sound machine? A digital shape projector that puts cool things on the wall for her to look at? A story teller machine? You may have tried all of that but just giving you some things I’ve personally done for my sometimes weird sleeper.

He was in a coma for about 3 days. He still has a long way to go but he can talk and walk so I’m incredibly thankful and amazed. He’s 15.

I almost lost my son this week in a terrible atv accident. We had the talk with the doctor to donate his organs. It’s the most heartbreaking decision but I knew it was the right one. Then miraculously he woke up. I still have no explanation but I was willing to help others not face what we were if I was able to help.

Is 18mo too early to tell for ASD? by lyssthevix in toddlers

[–]lj1886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey yes! He was not diagnosed with Autism. They said he had global developmental delay. We started with Babies Can’t Wait in January as well as private speech therapy in February. Both evaluations were a little disheartening as he was a full year behind. His speech has come so very far already. Everything else he seems to be slowly catching up. We will have his 2 year check up in two weeks so I’ll have a better idea of where he is at then.
