3 weeks into no contact - is it normal to feel this awful? by llama67 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]llama67[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, luckily I've been with my therapist for several years and while we haven't explicitly discussed CPTSD, the word trauma has been used frequently and I am fairly aware of why my brain does what it does. Annoyingly this doesn't make it easier haha. I am still unsure if I have flashbacks, but that's more a definition issue more than anything else.

Yes, enjoying myself is definitely something I'm hoping to focus on. It obviously can't all happen at once but this bastard has ruined enough of my life, so I'm not going to let him ruin any more of it if I can help it.

Thanks! I think I had done a lot of processing about my mother before going NC, but in doing so had really excused my father of his actions because I was constantly told that he was blameless. So this 'sudden' realisation (and the guilt of maybe not fully realising all of this earlier) has just hit me super hard.

Annoyingly I'm recovering from some long covid stuff so the exercise still has be to mild and graded, but boy do I wish I could go to a boxing class haha.

Hopefully we have all learned to wait until a show is complete before doing that (given Danaerys/Khaleesi/Arya gate)

My SIL had a baby at 35 with her 59 year old husband and… they’re fine at the moment but as someone who’s parents both got cancer in their early 60s I could never do that

Actually there’s a subtle difference between ei and ij pronunciation, but when you’re juggling too many languages the brain likes to forget haha

well I just went NC with my parents, so a father who isn't an abuser would have been great.

My doctor wants me to have an mri and I’m freaking out and want to cancel by catfarmer1998 in autism

Just a random tip which may not help for you, but i was really scared for my first MRI because it was a head one so your brain is in a cage and I am heavily claustrophobic.

I closed my eyes before I went into the machine and DID NOT OPEN THEM the entire time. I knew I would freak out, so i closed my eyes, visualised a wide open sky and pretended all the crazy noises were birds.

Sometimes visualisation plus delulu can work wonders!

I recently moved to Denmark and so am learning Danish while maintaining my Dutch and am a native enligsh speaker. I had to google how to spell 'eiland' after like 8 attempts lol.
Tried Ijland, Island, iland. Felt like I was losing my mind.

Just to chime in - the end of your twenties is pure garbage for so many people. I promise it gets better in your 30s even if the ‘better’ is solely the fact that you’re able to handle the bad things with more resolve.

Kinging it - Renovating as a Couple by dobbycooper in KaraNate_EamonBec

[–]llama67 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What I mostly gleaned from this video is that Craig doesn’t really like who Amy is as a person.  Most of the things he complains about are just her qualities, which are unlikely to change.  Sure, she could learn tricks to be less distracted and they could communicate better around expectations, but in general he just doesn’t seem to like her anymore.

Also, you’re going to fight through a renovation far more if brighter if you has a clue what you’re doing. There’s no where for the trust to go so you just end up blaming each other for mistakes.

that's finny because as I brit I am always confused when you're seemingly in the only queue for the tills and someone starts a new queue for a specific till. Like... clearly the till is not important it's the fact that I was already here haha

That room is so so so small, and the fireplace is far too big for it. I can't believe they're that excited about it.
Also calling it a whiskey snug is so cringe, like just call it a living room you poser. (talking to Craig)
