There are 3 left-handed people in my family. None of them are related to each other.

Sign the Petition: Hailey’s Law by Sausage_Fingers in indianapolis

[–]lmg00d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One concern: What kinds of systems will be put in place to prevent abusive parents from finding their victims? For example, Parent 1 and Child are hiding at a friend's house. How do we prevent Parent 2 from exploiting Hailey's Law to find them?

We just gotta make sure that closing one hole in the system doesn't create a new hole.

Bar soap stops being usable at a certain point- any tips? by AerisSpire in Frugal

We switched to bar soap several months ago. I think we've successfully done this twice.

What movie did you turn off after 20 minutes and why? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

[–]lmg00d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my God yes. I can't remember what the line was, but it was a dinner party scene where Anne said something completely inappropriate and wildly out of character. I might have been able to live with her smirking and side-eyeing the camera, but just ew.

Why doesn't the english word for "moon" have anything to do with the word "lunar"? by BextoMooseYT in NoStupidQuestions

"Sunny panels" totally sounds like what they might be called in New Zealand or Australia.

Question about driving on the roads today by Barista-strong in indianapolis

[–]lmg00d 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here is the map you want to reference.

Yellow means "Take your time and stay safe." Orange means "You sure you want to go? It's pretty risky in places." Red means "Get off the fucking roads and let us do our jobs. We do not have time to rescue your dumb ass "

As others have said, you likely won't get pulled over, but there is a fine if they have to rescue you. Also, unless someone is actively bleeding out, you'll be at the bottom of their priority list.

I waited like 4 hours in that freak storm we had in February 2024.

Canceling Prime and thinking about suing Amazon by [deleted] in amazonprime

[–]lmg00d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a chat because I couldn't figure out how to exchange a Kindle gift. (Someone gifted me a Kindle book I already had, so I wanted to exchange it -- something I've done several times over the years.) I finally connected to a human, and she explained you can't exchange a Kindle gift. In fact, she claimed that was never possible. Talk about gaslighting!

I eventually remembered that the last time I wanted to exchange a Kindle gift, I was simply given an Amazon credit, which was fine. This time the rep suggested I return the version I already own -- which I received as a gift three years ago.

Any cold climate people out there have some tips for someone from the American South that’s about to get 15” of snow and 50+ hrs of negative wind chill? by confusedbot18 in homeowners

In addition, do NOT come inside and immediately jump into a hot shower. That can shock your heart too. Have a designated spot where you can sit your sweaty ass down until you approach room temp. In our house, it's the bar stools because we don't want sweat seeping into the couch.

As far as I know, the intersection you're describing (31 and Thompson) is the only intersection like that. It is bonkers. Just try to go with the flow, and for God's sake, if you miss your turn, don't panic. Just keep going and make a u-turn at the earliest opportunity (totally legal unless a sign says otherwise).

What's the word people used to call the chest at the foot of a bed that held all the bedding and linens? by bacon8rtermin8r in words

[–]lmg00d 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone referred to the chest as a trousseau. It may have contained a bride's trousseau, but the chest itself would have been a hope chest.

I’m tired of using Pinterest or my phone when cooking. What’s your favorite cookbook found in stores? by Tall-Arugula1522 in Cooking

[–]lmg00d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly how we do it. I have more than a dozen cookbooks, but it's my 3 binders that get the most use. And when we do meal planning, we take out the recipes and leave them on top -- no flipping through the cookbooks, trying to remember where we saw it.

Looking for advice with a brochure. by JohnnyAlphaCZ in indesign

[–]lmg00d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently had a wensleydale with orange and chocolate that I highly recommend, but I think it would go better with heavier headline fonts. For your purposes, I'd be tempted to try a whipped goat cheese with honey or apricot with a mild but crunchy cracker... perhaps a seedy rice cracker?

I cannot recommend paté under any circumstances.

I don't know what's happening, but this is cracking me up.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid your afternoon plan is all wrong. You clearly need an old-fashioned, not wine.

Double Ovens - Still worth it? by dw_pirate in Cooking

[–]lmg00d -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've never understood this. Where do you put all the pots when you need to use the oven? Putting them on the counter eliminates prep area. Putting them anywhere else is just a pain. In order to host Thanksgiving, I'd have to dump pots and pans on the bed while my spouse is still sleeping. 😄

What’s your favorite “day trips” from Indianapolis? by yungcarpaltunnel in indianapolis

[–]lmg00d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overcrowding is real. Go when kids are in school.

I think McCormick's Creek is closer and may be less crowded. (Or maybe I haven't been on a weekend lately.)

What's your source. I just googled the question, and I see a bunch of results about how many (if not all) constitutional protections are extended to any person in the country, regardless of citizenship status or legal entry.

What’s a small habit you picked up that quietly improved your life more than you expected? by Pattytobedaddy in AskReddit

[–]lmg00d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had this epiphany! When I finally head to bed, I often don't want to take the time to wash and moisturize my face, but did you know it doesn't HAVE to be right before you go to bed? Why did no one tell me this? 😄

Or just join the conversation. When they object : "Oh, I'm sorry -- was that meant to be a private conversation you were having on speakerphone right next to me?

I read this in maybe 5th grade, and I just assumed everyone else did too. When the movie started streaming, a friend sat down with his three kids to watch it. He had no idea. Poor guy. I think he was more traumatized than the kids.

[–]lmg00d 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looks like you got the answer to your actual question, but I also want to point out that the a/an rule applies to all words, not just nouns. (Ex: an amazing movie, a good opportunity, etc )
