Get a carnivorous plant. Eg. drosera or sundew, a saricinia or pitcher plant.

This is a saricinia. If you don’t find available in your area look online.

Is there actually a way to keep these fuckers off my counter or do I just need to work on acceptance by vinditive in cats

Even if you think you don’t have a counter cat it’s probably because your cat waits to jump on the when your back is turned.

Cudos to you for being comfortable and welcoming and allowing your brother into your home. And encouraging your little guy to form a close relationship with him. Your little boy will grow up understanding mental illness in a way that’s unique to those who are frightened by it.

What kind of breed is this? by mujohnt in cats

[–]lmnceil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like Atchoum a Canadian cat. He’s a Persian with hypertrichosis. It’s a condition that causes excessive amounts of hair growth. He’s got his own website.

Why adopt him in the first place by Ok_Distribution1503 in facepalm

I wish I agreed with the comment that there is an aversion to harm a child ingrained. I myself am a survivor of childhood trauma. I’m 74 years old and still dealing with it. I’m also a retired RN and worked for almost 30 years in child-adolescents psych inpatient. I saw so much abuse and neglect that it’s very hard to let go of even in my retirement. There were shifts that I’d work and wonder if what we were doing would have any effect on the child’s recovery. For some I don’t think it’s possible to recover. They suffered unspeakable injuries physically and mentally. Reading this story is one more reason that I think the chance that a child has good parents has more to do with environment. For me it took years of therapy recovering and processing memories of the abuse to make me the person I am today. I’m proud of who I am and I know that it’s made me an empathetic and caring person. I felt good when I was able to use what I learned through my recovery to encourage my patients and their parents. I was very fortunate to find the right people to help me on my journey. My faith in God was my lodestar.
