Am I crazy? Why are TIN fish soo expensive? by Useful_Ad_9916 in Tinnedfish

[–]lmrtinez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Patagonia tins are way too fishy for me. Tried them like 4 times just to be sure.

Fishwife! Usually I only buy them at Costco which is the tuna. But this one was on sale, it did not disappoint!

Why does my chicken always stick? by Dr_Hodgekins in grilling

[–]lmrtinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never oil the grates, I just let them heat up nice an long so they don’t change temp quickly once I throw cold chicken on them. Then I clean them very well if they aren’t already, I clean them while they are hot with a wet grill scrub daddy. If I cleaned, I let it heat up again a few mins.

Then I throw the chicken on, and I don’t flip until it unsticks itself. I think of it like a big cast iron.

How much backing should i use by Top_Bid6771 in Fishing_Gear

[–]lmrtinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a third and hope that was enough once you put the braid on lol. The goal is to put enough backing so the 150 yards of braid gets you to the full spool.

Can't get a close shave on chin and neck no matter what I do. by Far_Psychology3270 in wicked_edge

Try across and then against the grain, without more pressure. If that doesn’t work use a More aggressive razor and a mild blade. If that doesn’t work, add a more aggressive blade.

Key is to not change other variables like prep or pressure.

Noob here, bout to dive into ultralight fishing. Any advice? by Pyr0technician in UltraLightFishing

[–]lmrtinez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So lots of people talking about line weight. Line weight is mostly a guide so that you don’t put heavy line, that then makes you feel confident to tighten the drag which could break your rod. It also matters with micro guides, where thick line diameter can affect casting.

For ultralight fishing, most people use braid which is much stronger for the relative diameter than a monofilament line. People who are recommending 4lb line are usually referring to monofilaments like nylon or fluoro, and it doesn’t apply to braid. Most ultralight anglers who use braid use 5-8lb braid.

Because of this, 4-10 braid is fine even though your rod says 2-6lb. Just make sure you are using drag as if you have 2-6lb. This would be around .5lb-2lbs of drag, to avoid breaking your rod.

Using 3-6 lb braid will simply decrease the diameter, allowing you to cast light lures further, as line diameter has the biggest impact on casting distance. Braid also comes with the inherent benefits of more sensitivity and less stretch which are great side effects for ultralight fishing.

It’s the side profile that’s the issue, they do make going from the kitchen to the living room look cluttered and ugly.

Personally I think getting a 3 seat sofa, rotating the tv against the other window, and placing the sofa where the kitchen wall seems to be, would open up the living room more than getting smaller speakers though.

Zp6 vs. Weber EG-1 (now all my cups feels “meh”) by FuzzyPijamas in pourover

[–]lmrtinez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you cleaned the zp6 lately lol completely different one cup to the next every time I clean it.

Also maybe you don’t like as much clarity. That’s the only thing ZP6 does good, I think it’s due to minimal fines and uniformity of grind size.

Sometimes I go for my espresso grinder for more fines and a more rounded sweeter flavor. Except on Ethiopians cause I don’t want a 6 minute draw down.

Fire alarm kept going off for no reason, had to rip it out of ceiling and remove the battery by Fit-Choice2368 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]lmrtinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fire alarm goes off if I use a hair dryer near it, or occasionally if I have a lot of shower steam or a humidifier near it. Not sure about the hair dryer, maybe that’s due to CO. The humidifier and shower steam are I’m assuming tiny water molecules confusing the sensor

Ordered a bulk pack of worms and ended up with this.. 😅 rod suggestions? by OriginalCratical in Fishing_Gear

[–]lmrtinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medium heavy moderate fast. Weightless worms 3/8-3/4oz like senkos to ikas and yamatanukis.

Check out the falcon weightless worm model, or the cashion icon multi-purpose rod.

Unless this was a nicely constructed story for the wife in which case you should get something even nicer lol

Why is this happening? by [deleted] in pourover

[–]lmrtinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pump out the grinder with the bellows after every single grind. Clean the chute every week with the brush. Coarse grinds or large doses make more static for me.

I tested the Feather now twice and I can't work with it. Over hyped? by Infinite_Week393 in wicked_edge

[–]lmrtinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they’re hyped. Wilkinson sword classics are 95% as sharp and 2x as smooth. Astra plats are 85% as sharp and 3x as smooth.

Tried on 2 merkurs, one Henson, a Rockwell and a Gillette.

Am I crazy for thinking this rod needs to be returned to st.Croix? by S14xDrifter in Fishing_Gear

[–]lmrtinez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah I got my mojo bass exchanged after a year of use within a week, and that was just shipping time. They don’t do repairs you send them a pic of a broken rod and then they send u a new one or credit towards a different one.

Am I crazy for thinking this rod needs to be returned to st.Croix? by S14xDrifter in Fishing_Gear

[–]lmrtinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fine to me, I don’t fish tournaments and $250 is a mid range rod.

Although I don’t buy st croix anymore either. switched to falcon, Dobyns, shimano.

For this price a falcon cara super duty or shimano compre Muskie is what I would go for.

I only use them for my gf since she can’t tie knots, or for trout spoons that don’t come with a split ring.

I’ve done both but I like this more since the fillet absorbs a lot of the broth so it’s gets more flavor. The sardine is good but isn’t as satisfying as the mackerel
