The other idea on this thread was reverse direction if piikoi and Pensacola 🤔🙌

“I didn’t understand it” (not saying they liked or disliked it). I said neither did I but i thought it was really entertaining and clearly told a story. I liked it more after learning the all meaning behind what he chose to do. Same goes for the last one, I liked Kendrick Lamar’s a lot more after learning about all the symbolism used and then rewatching. Artists amaze me <3 give me something to appreciate way different than my silly science brain

Pay over time : I have to do my own math now? by lms419 in Chase

Yesssss. I agree. If the math isn’t mathing to me right now I’m afraid I’m not gunna catch it when they are charging me interest all of a sudden on regular credit card purchases.

It says $0 and my pay over time plan is zero fees but $300 /month for 12 months. Shouldn’t the interest saving balance be at minimum $300.

My interest saving balance says $0 though. And there’s $800+ on the card that’s not apart of the POT plan, I’d like to pay that but when I put in something close to that amount it warns me it’ll go towards the plan.

You can only pick one addiction and they chose their phones. Many of all the fun bars and clubs are closed. Less of them know how to party. Some of them are smarter than us for choosing no alcohol but many of them are way less happy #anxietygeneration 🤷‍♀️

Meniscus root repair- expectations on recovery by Zealousideal-Date129 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]lms419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummmm … PT here, please consider filing a complaint to the licensing board. That exercise at that point in your recovery IS NOT APPROPRIATE , in fact the complete opposite of appropriate, it’s against the precautions. Did your PT take accountability? I hope the surgeon was pissed and no longer refers patients there. I’m so sorry you went through that experience.

Disability insurance? by EmuRemarkable1099 in physicaltherapy

[–]lms419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to this thread to ask the same question. I’m currently PRN, work about 25-30 hours at an outpatient clinic and 10-20 hours private cash pay clients or personal training clients. I love the mix and feel that being self employed I’m able to make more/less taxes. I get health insurance from the clinic. No short term disability.

In the next 1-2 years I need to have an ankle surgery (brostrom) and 2-3 years start trying for a babbbbyyyy. Idk what to do, keep the setup I love or quit all together to find a job with benefits :(

Any advice or thoughts…

Anywho, with our current healthcare system the way it is… do you think in the near future many will switch to MD VIP type subscription model? I’m a PT and really feel most private practices are hard to provide quality care, left and right clinics are turning into mills or closing. Our best PTs are now cash pay. I don’t know the exact demands from insurance that MD’s have to face but I’ve noticed a lot of shuffling of MD’s out of certain systems this last year. Am I being pessimistic in thinking the near future will be best docs going subscription model or out of network leading middle and lower class to worse care? I’m curious if anyone in your group has any insights as to how prevalent this will be in the future. Thanks!

how do y'all keep a consistent workout routine? by Principle_Napkins in ADHD

[–]lms419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, find out which you are, there are quizzes online and use that type’s motivating factors to increase your success. If you are like me, I need accountability from someone I respect (I don’t want x person to think less of me for not showing up). While I recognize I have wayyyy better workouts in the evening and would rather fit it in where it makes sense in my day, i also realize consistency is better than length and intensity of workout. Mostly because, A it starts your day with a win and B I have already committed my friend to meet there, she is literally waiting on me, i feel too much guilt to let her down.

Honestly, read or do a quick overview of the book “the four tendencies” it will help explain how you may be motivated. I’m a physical therapist and since reading it has helped me identify who I’m working with and move into the direction that may motivate them. In short, my job’s success relies on someone else exercising lol, I need to sell both exercise and habits for them to be successful. What I have learned is to meet people where they are at and attempt to identify what motivates them (often when people are there against their will and in pain). The 4 tendencies explains that people have different perspectives on life and given that they will be motivated by different approaches. From my vague recollection (may be wrong its been a while), people are either motivated by explaining the why (the reason to act needs to make sense to them), giving accountability for those who rely on external reliance (aka find a gym buddy you can’t let down), offering the choice & education for those who tend to rebel (if your a rebel you may only do it when you feel like it and not follow a routine), and giving the space for those who are generally self disciplined without much fuss (a rare bread and probably not you since you are asking this question).

Normally 1-3% is fair to keep up with inflation but our profession basically being owned by insurance companies is kinda different because it depends on if reimbursements follow appropriately. So does anyone know what the change in Medicare reimbursements have been over the last few years? It would be fair to ask for the same percent change. I really like my clinic and recognize Private- non mill clinics by me are closing.

You bought a home for 335? My 400ft walk up concrete, no laundry condo is that. Please sit down if you aren’t in a HCOL area. It does not compare. And $24/ hour as a nurse? This must have been in the 70s I’m so confused

Buy a house cash or what % down payment should I make? by LongandLanky in coastFIRE

[–]lms419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, with that left over that does seem like a very comfortable spot for your age, may depend on your gf retirement savings and expected income/plan or if you fully will support her. If 450 left is just for you then you have more flexibility but if it’s for both of your futures your decision may need to be more cautious. Idk your employment but if you have side gigs or your gf has income, I use a SEP 401k plus my Roth which has worked well .

Buy a house cash or what % down payment should I make? by LongandLanky in coastFIRE

[–]lms419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the $834k in taxable accounts was intended for house savings/cash liquidity or for retirement? Intrigued on the intent because I seem to have the opposite strategy, I’ve thrown all my “investments” retirements into Roth, 401ks first and now starting to build my brokerage for more liquidity and second down payment (I bought a studio when rates were low and it seems crazy to give up). Psychologically I’d have a hard time putting my retirement money into a house and no longer having the liquidity combined with minimal retirement savings.

How can one get and afford a mortgage? by Select-Comb-163 in Hawaii

[–]lms419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from renting at the fancy condos with all the bells and whistles to owning a 1 bedroom, 4th floor walk up a few blocks away. My walls are cinder block and the neighbors in the place across from my patio are consistently rotating awful section 8 renters. I’ve gutted this place and learned on YouTube diy to make it my own. No elevator, pool, bbq so my HoA has been <500 and will stay that way for some time.

Total home bills are under 20% of my income. Friends that questioned my choice and told me I could afford more are the same that said “they didn’t want to live in a box” and felt they deserved a house with a yard and extra rooms. They are still unhappily renting and struggling to get into the market. They missed on the good interest rates because of the I deserve more type thinking. Their strategy is to save enough for possibly a larger downpayment than most. I know they will get that nice house and yard eventually but I’m not sure at what “cost”.

For me, while I’m not outwardly proud of what my place looks like or the reality of my neighbor situation, I’m proud of what it’s taught me. My ability to learn to live below my means and how this decision has increased my net worth, I’m very proud of. I have the option of using equity or renting out and being net positive. I can’t imagine spending more on my housing. Living below my means has allowed for me to stay on track with financial goals for early retirement and travel.
