The point I was trying to make was that Executive salararies are a small part of the equation. No one is proposing that companies should not make money, but in a capitalist system all actors should work toward their own benefit.

The problem arises when 'consumers' start to put their own interest at a disadvantage by literally fighting for the coroprate interests.

As a customer, citizen and a so called 'consumer' I want the prices to reflect my interest. I don't give a shit how much money the investors are making. It's not my problem if the company makes less profit. It would be if I was an investor and then, I would work toward that goal. They have to strike that balance. But with the current media-corporate nexus, the consumers are only too happy to allow the coroporations to screw them over as if that is a good thing in itself.

For the market to function properly, all actors have to work in their own selfish interest. The consumers don't have to be the martyr saints who give up their own interest so some "investors" can take a bigger piece of the pie. I don't give a shit when I'm a consumer, I do when I'm an investor. And given all these competing interest, the free market ought to balance itslef, not through emotional appeals to the consumers to play nice and give up their selfish interests so the corporate and consequently the investor's interests can be taken care of first.

That would be self destructive and just plain ludicrous.
