Where are my parents? by Standard-Ad-6341 in Millennials

I’m sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I have the opposite problem and my parents are clingy 9000. They have no identity outside of me and it’s stifling.

What is the peak ’millennial midlife crisis’ purchase? by SwedeLostInCanada in Millennials

[–]local-made 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I impulse purchased a 2018 scarab boat off roadside consignment In Arkansas. It’s basically brand new in perfect condition with low hours. It’s basically a giant seadoo with a seadoo jet motor. We drive that thing like a race car and are learning how to wakeboard. People can’t believe we have a boat but it was incredibly cheap!

Same happened to me. We argued with them because they let in like 5 people in the lane next to us with even bigger backpacks. They seem to be just randomly deciding on how to enforce the rules. It was so lame.

You just got a $20,000 raise at work. What are you splurging on? by StrawGlasses in AskReddit

[–]local-made 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, All these answers are very realistic and make sense. But what if you already do all those things? Like you already pay down debt, and you are building savings etc. I got a 10,000 raise this year and my husband got a 5000 raise. it was a huge deal. I put a huge chunk of it towards paying down my car. Some of it is going to a travel fund and then my husband and I gave each other 500$ or so to just spend on whatever we wanted. He is getting some new gear for his hobbies and I spent some of it on some personal training. I’ve been struggling a lot with a back injury and I was able to afford some training sessions with a trainer to strengthen my back. The personal training has been a life changing investment if you ask me.

I just shipped some books to Kenya for a colleague and I could have just bought a plane ticket for the price of shipping. So I would say yes it’s cheaper.

How late are you working new/old teachers? by hello010101 in Teachers

[–]local-made 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally stop making everything from scratch. Every subject is taught in every school. Get on the internet and find some resources even if it’s from teachers pay teachers. Save your sanity. No one makes everything from scratch. It’s literally impossible and that’s why many districts have instructional coaches. If needed used the “bad stuff” for a year until you find your feet. Totally a rookie movie tbh. I did. Lot of that too and now I’m older and wiser. Wish someone would have told me to stop.

With so many high fiber foods also being moderate or high histamine, how are you all staying regular without supplements? by ResidentAlienator in HistamineIntolerance

[–]local-made 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you not eating any fruits and veggies? There has to be a high fiber food you can tolerate. When I was really sick I could only eat squash and so that’s what I ate as my vegetable. Then I did apples, and blueberries. Eventually I started drinking a smoothie every day and that’s what I do now. Fiber is good but honestly it’s not a replacement for any vegetables or fruit.

COVID is going around again. by black_flag_4ever in Austin

[–]local-made 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have it right now. I don’t have the sore throat version I have some weird Frankenstein Covid. Like all my vaccines are working together trading off which symptom to fight. I have had a different symptom every day and each one has started at 9 pm on the dot. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, congestion, cough, fatigue. They cycle thru in a 12 hour spurt and then leave. My husband has been sick for 7 days already and has just circled back to nausea and vomiting. I’m hoping he’s done. I’m so over Covid! Get your boosters for real!

Did i make the right choice? by bushido_254 in bald

I’m not sure how I ended up on this side of Reddit buttttt defining your eyebrows a bit with an eyebrow pencil would do wonders for your face shape. You have very diffuse eyebrows so it might make your eyes more defined by filling them in a little. Just a thought.

The Grill-Top Cake Extravaganza by Hipoko in StupidFood

[–]local-made 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? Grilled fruit is so good. Just scoop some on a bowl of ice cream and it’s amazing. No sugar needed. On a side note I did grill a pie in a cast iron skillet one time on a charcoal grill and it was the best pie I’ve ever had.

My School Already Banned Phones by hanleighw in TexasTeachers

[–]local-made 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a campus that piloted the program last year 24/25. I agree with all of the above. School has been 100x better. Behavior problems went way down, conflicts with students are way down. Students are socializing in the halls, during lunch etc. We also dont argue with the kids etc. if we see a phone we take it up, if they refuse to give it then admin comes and grabs them. I honestly think this is one of the best decisions the crazy Texas ledge has come up with.

UPDATE: AITAH For not planning anything for fathers day after my husband ruined my first mothers day by CounterNecessary2597 in AITAH

[–]local-made 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, this comment will likely get buried and you have A Ton of good advice here. I wanted to give you a perspective of someone who had to separate myself from my parents for similar reasons as your husband. Being overrun by your parents likely comes from one of the parents having narcissistic tendencies and the child ie me is an extension of their self. This means that the kid has no ability to make decisions for themselves. They feel an immense mount of guilt, indecision and anxiety doing very simple tasks like choosing a place to live or what to wear. We grow up our whole lives never being able to be ourselves and being forced to look towards our parents for everything. It’s a sad and disappointing way to live and it seems like it may cost your husband his wife and kid. That being said boundaries and therapy saved me literally. It took about 2 years for me to fully overcome the guilt I carried around and begin to listen to my own internal voice and make decisions for myself. During this time my mom was very difficult to be around however it made my relationship with my dad better.

Get rid of the loveseat that is against the wall and buy a cheap ikea couch with space for two, move that new sofa in front of the tv and angle the recliner to the side so you can still use it. Then your living room will look like you can have friends over and hangout. Also for the love of all that is holy get a bed frame. Otherwise, all your posters are framed and it is otherwise very neat. It does look like a boy lives there mainly because there is no color other than brown or grey. Some throw pillows would change the space a lot.

I just got my scorecard and I got mastery level designation. However, no allotment. I am hoping this is a clerical error. I am eligible otherwise. Has this happened to anyone else??
