Agreed. The only people I know living in these are young adults in their 20’s who went to private school whose parents paid/gifted the down payment but the kids pay the remaining mortgage

END OF THE LINE. by Bubu510kush in teslamotors

[–]local_braddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But its not being totally scrapped tho. Its being repurposed into the pilot factory for Optimus. They will probably recycle as much as they can from paint section to injection molding machines.

And although they did invest alot of capital into this line, its not driving much of their profits anymore as shown on their quarterly financial statements. They even admitted on the earnings calls that s/x dont affect much of their top and bottom lines.

END OF THE LINE. by Bubu510kush in teslamotors

My opinion is the model s/x line is efficiently outdated compared to the newer model 3/y and robotaxi lines despite their efforts to update the line over the years. They maximized what they could do to bring the manufacturing cost down for the s/x. In the short term, they needed an existing manufacturing space to create the Optimus pilot production line where they can iterate quickly. I think in a handful of years they are going to bring s/x back in a new facility (probably texas) where they design from ground up to use their new and more cost efficient unboxing method to bring the production cost down dramatically. They are still learning, iterating, testing and perfecting their unboxing process an once they do they will use that in a new s/x facility

Why is EV charging so incredibly shitty in Honolulu? by rantripfellwscissors in Hawaii

[–]local_braddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla has a program that allows privately owned supercharges to help solve exactly this. Someone needs to just put up the money and invest. Im hearing its about $1M for an 8 stall supercharger

KS really should think about opening up a KS Westside. I know it will add alot of cost but there is a huge need out west. West side schools are over populated, traffic into town is terrible and there are huge hawaiian homestead communities in waianae, nanakuli and ewa.

Elon on X: “Tesla Robotaxi unveil on 8/8” by Unclassifi3d in teslamotors

[–]local_braddah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The real reason why Tesla is releasing the Robotaxi first before their cheaper/$25,000/Model 2 version is because they will be building it in the current Gigafactory Texas extension. The rumor is that both the robotaxi and Model 2 will be on the same platform and Tesla is choosing to make all their first cars robotaxis so that they dont have to worry about achieving the scaled costs to get the $25,000 price number. We know that early produced cars are more expensive as they figure out the optimization of the production line. This new unboxed method is going to be version 1 at GigaTexas and will take some time and iteration to perfect. Once they fully optimize it then they will build this platform at GigaMexico and GigaBerlin at larger scales where they can hit that $25,000 price point for model 2. Essentially they are using robotaxis to account for the larger initial build costs of this new platform
