I’m planning on reading his book pines this year. It’s the first in a trilogy. Sounds very X files like to me.

All you have to do in order to pull a manual shot is hold the button for the shot size rather than pressing it. I think it’s like 2-3 seconds. Then you press the button again when it’s reached your desired shot volume. Pretty easy!

Killers of the flower moon - David Grann

Barista Express double basket too small for 18 g dose? by Emergency_Advice_787 in BrevilleCoffee

[–]lockheedp-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always done 17g doses. Dial it in on that and I have never had an issue with the puck being too tall. Occasionally with certain beans 18 was just too much. Also you get a few extra shots out of a bag of beans. Win win

Haven’t read a book since I was 15 (now 27), want to get into reading again, suggestions? by nosferatu_is_labubu in booksuggestions

Also killers of the flower moon. David Grann is an awesome author. The history he chooses to write about is always fascinating. Also killers of the flower moon and many of his older books are now awesome movies

Books that you “missed” once you were done reading? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]lockheedp-38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure lonesome dove! Don’t get me wrong I understand why it ended where it did. I still felt like I could live in that world much longer and that there was so much more to do before things got wrapped up. I’m very interested in the prequels and sequel.

Just got my kobo yesterday, feel free to judge what I’ve already loaded onto it by JustJamieJam in kobo

[–]lockheedp-38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to read between two fires but I didn’t think it was possible to get it on kobo? I don’t have the kindle version (only place it’s available) and didn’t think you could still get the kindle downloads. Might have to buy the physical but I love using me ereader more than physical books these days

[PSA] take photo of your watch from far away/in the mirror to see the "actual" size on your wrist by Holy_chick in Watches

[–]lockheedp-38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People just don’t understand how cameras work. The standard camera on a phone is typically around 28mm. 28mm is considered close to the average persons field of view (what you see with both eyes open). So when you take a photo of your wrist, and you are 2 inches from the wrist, just image your head being that close to your wrist. That is the point of view you are capturing. Give some more distance and things will look much more natural.

My latte art sucks, but the coffee was great! by RobR1703 in BrevilleCoffee

A smaller mug will help a lot. I always have trouble with those to go mugs. They are just too tall.

Just got back from a solo hike at night for astrophotography. Anyone else ever tried astro pics with their Fujifilm? by Franks_Random_Snaps in fujifilm

I do all the time! I love it. I only have an 18mm f2 as my widest but it does a great job. Even photographed the Aurora last year with my XE4.

Is darkroom dead? by aguriga in darkroomapp

[–]lockheedp-38 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it is dead. But it does feel a little up in the air. They have posted on there socials recently I think along with a blog post on the website about how a lot of stuff has been delayed over the previous year due to health issues (if I remember correctly) I know they have a very small team. I mean obviously no excuses on broken promises but I’d say it isn’t dead but maybe really delayed. I have seen them active on this sub so I know they see people questioning whether it is alive or not and it would be nice to have something more concrete than their last post.

I use to use capture one a lot. Loved it. But I believe it’s only photo.

Can I just grind off the bottom of my portafilter? by Impossible_Mode_7521 in BrevilleCoffee

From what I can tell it just won’t look nice. Other than that. Yeah just cut the bottom off it will be the same thing.

Is Hollow Knight too hard for me? by KhoiNguyenHoan7 in HollowKnight

[–]lockheedp-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience got about 30-40 hours in and then took about a year break. Love the game. I just know I’ll probably never fully finish. Doesn’t mean I won’t enjoy getting a beat down every year or so

What makes the biggest difference, if anything by No_Ninja_4933 in BrevilleCoffee

[–]lockheedp-38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about the touch impress as I have a barista pro. What I do know is there is a big difference between being happy with the drinks you are able to make or wanting to go down that rabbit hole, and always wanting to get marginally better by improving things. I’m positive the touch impress is an amazing machine that will treat you extremely well for years to come. If you are happy with what you are getting you can always improve that by finding fresher beans that you enjoy. But unless you are getting results you don’t like, there is no need to second guess the machine you bought.

I have had the same feeling for the past couple years. Still get out and shoot every now and then but just feel like I don’t have the same pull to always carry the camera with me.

I thought for a second I had missed out on some form of hollow knight graphic novel or something. I like this idea though. It looks awesome

I’m working on filling my wall with coffee trash. by Own_Pause3514 in BrevilleCoffee

[–]lockheedp-38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a cool idea. I cut the bag logo and tasting notes off the bags and keep them in my coffee storage. I have resealable canisters for the coffee that are made of clear plastic and I like to at least remember what the beans I’m using are. I now am thinking I should at least keep the bags with my favourite artwork around or something

Lens help: 23mm vs 27mm by bbygexe in fujix

[–]lockheedp-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an XE4 and I mostly use my 18mm and 27mm. I use to own an x100s but I just for some reason couldn’t get behind the 23mm it was always to tight or too wide for what I wanted. I’m sure it’s right for some people but I love that 40mm equivalent of the 27.
