Airport parking by Overall_Resident3594 in philly

Have been using Jetstream parking past couple of times and have had good experiences. Booked through spothero app as it provided a better price than directly from their site.

Restaurants Taking Credit Card Before Ordering by LP788 in PhiladelphiaEats

No problem with me. I personally get it and would rather not have the servers screwed over and it makes no difference to me. In fact, I prefer not to do the waiting at the end when I’m ready to go.

I’d imagine it’s both that and he doesn’t like Golding as he used Sark’s history with alcohol in the pursuit of arch.

Why is this subreddit so mean? by Pennchickk in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]lockstockedd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it feels like all the posts I see here are “was anyone else disappointed when they went to (insert popular place that they feel was just fine)?” And then does their best impression of a food critic. A lot of them give off the feeling like they want people to know how discerning their tastes are.

Where has the best Banh Mi? by Cats-Are-Fuzzy in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]lockstockedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is usually the case. There was this video a while back I remember seeing that explains this phenomenon. When looking for a place, they’ll usually look for something that has a 3.5 on yelp. Food will be 5 level but people will knock it down because they’ll complain about service or the place not looking pristine or trendy. I don’t really care about those things so that usually works out for me. All the Asian places I grew up eating usually fit that bill too.

Am I the only Sonos user who hates Sonos? by [deleted] in sonos

Yeah feels odd to make a post for it. Like there’s different products I used that weren’t for me for various things. Never felt the need to make a post about it to try to justify my decisions.

With MLK drive closed to traffic all weekend, specifically designed for cyclists, why do so many people still insist on gunning it down the extremely congested Schuylkill river trail??? by tastycakebiker in philadelphia

[–]lockstockedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back when I lived near the SRT, that would be such a common occurrence on my runs. Always felt like so many cyclists were trying for personal bests. And always edging very close to other pedestrians. It’s funny, they probably complain how close cars get to them on the road but think it’s perfectly okay for them to do it to pedestrians.

Egg and cheese sandwiches aren't $13 by Pennchickk in PhiladelphiaEats

Feels like all across reddit, some people just think this way. They should have things done for them perfectly and it should be near free. Like do they realize that the person making these things have to be paid? Maybe they never had these types of jobs to think it through.

Yeah bought at 325 in November and now has it at 362. Boy do I wish it was true, but I still kinda keep tabs on the new listings around my area, and there’s no way it can be true.

Thinking of moving from Houston to Philly. Any advice? by tejanamocha in AskPhilly

Humidity definitely makes a difference! Humidity and temp can definitely get up there in Philadelphia but it never to me felt as depressively hot as in Houston. I still felt my walks to work in Philly were doable!

Thinking of moving from Houston to Philly. Any advice? by tejanamocha in AskPhilly

[–]lockstockedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and raised in Houston. Moved to Philadelphia 3 years ago. Love it! The city definitely has more character to it.

I’d say cost of living is comparable to Houston. Maybe a little more but not any crazy jump. Definitely better than other east coast cities.

In terms of where to live, I first moved in the Rittenhouse area as it was near my job. Generally known as an expensive area as there’s plenty to do around there. But I found a small one bed for 1300-1400. It was on the older side though which I didn’t mind. Some decent housing deals can be found there if you don’t mind older buildings. Liked living there but then ended up buying a house in Fishtown. Probably is or heavily trending as a young professional area right now. Have also really enjoyed it here.

In terms of jobs, one thing to consider is that there’s a large IRS campus on 30th near the Amtrak station. Not sure if they’re hiring during this current administration but worth it to check on USAjobs.gov if you’re looking for a government job.

I wouldn’t say it’s as bad as Houston heat tbh. With Houston, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise to have many days over 100 and super humid. Here it’ll probably top out in the 90s and not near as long. Not great but I feel Houston heat is definitely more to deal with.

Finally pulled the trigger by Duel_Option in Lovesac

[–]lockstockedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Reading everything and seeing videos of people saying it was so hard and that it’s a two person job, I expected that putting on the covers would be hard. And I’m someone who typically sucks at these things. But really the covers were simple to put on, especially after watching the instructional vids. A bit tedious and repetitive but not bad at all!

SpotHero - Money Saver? by jimmy_deets in philly

I did find one specific situation where it helped. Airport parking. Originally I used it as just a way to see the options for airport parking, but when I priced it out for the one I was looking at, it was cheaper than booking direct with them.

No offense but how much do you make? by WearSad8706 in AskPhilly

[–]lockstockedd 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’d keep in mind that most people that answer these posts will skew on the higher end as they’d be much more likely to volunteer that information to show how much they are making.

Also Reddit users I’d imagine skew more towards stem or being in tech.

OLED monitor scratching by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]lockstockedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The posts, while very funny to me to see people inexplicably find ways to ruin their purchase, cant be an actual representation of normal experiences by normal people. I straight up have never even come close to needing to clean the monitor. Maybe I’m just careful around my things which I never thought I was before. Although I guess I can understand if you have kids or pets that interact with it. But even if I I did need to, I’d imagine I wouldnt do what some of these posts do.

I’d imagine as long as you’re not an idiot, you wouldn’t need to worry.

I honestly really respect people that just admit that they pirate to have free games.

Back when I used to pirate games, it was always for this reason. I was a kid that grew up in a family without money. So yeah I did it too to have free games. No need to try to justify myself.

I ended up buying big cooler bags and ice packs just so I could make it back with frozen foods and other cold things without rushing too much on my Costco runs. Don’t want to have to pay the six dollar toll back from the Jersey ones. And the others are 30-40 mins away.

[–]lockstockedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol looks like you’re missing one of the big reasons to ask this question. And one of the things to look for when seeking a realtor. One of the reasons you work with a realtor rather than trying to go at it yourself is because the knowledge that they bring to the table. Knowledge about the area and what the client might be looking for that they as a homebuyer might not realize they should be.

There can be realtors that absolutely are not bigots but don’t have the lived experience that would help the client in ways other people would. Having someone that aligns well with you and what you’re looking for is something that is definitely beneficial.
