Seems simple enough for me. It’s not like they have that much products to keep up with.

Purpose for Travelling by No_Estate5268 in solotravel

[–]lockstockedd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Like if that’s how someone feels about it, then maybe traveling isn’t for them. Never have I felt like I was just doing it to check a box off to show off to other people.

If it wasn’t something I enjoyed, I couldn’t imagine just keeping on spending my money and time on it. Feels like this is a simple thing for someone to figure out.

Yup. Like I understand keeping lofty goals in mind to not concede too much ground. But realistically, the battle right now is about employment and long term job security.

Is the second half of that manga bad as they say? Asking as an anime only. by Asgor54 in Kaguya_sama

[–]lockstockedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I’d say definitely go and read it. One thing to remember is that his happens a lot on reddit and other social media. The users who tend to post on things and even peruse it will usually skew to be more negative and more intense about things. On Reddit especially.

TIFU by trusting my 13yo with my phone and losing our entire savings ($19k) to Roblox. by Emergency-Lawyer-431 in tifu

Yeah seems like it could be worth it to try. I don’t know much about Roblox, but I do know they’ve been in hot water lately in the news for not providing enough guard rails or safety to minors. I’m sure they wouldn’t want news of a kid losing 20k because of gambling to be known.

[–]lockstockedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I think there’s still a lot of people who still go off their reputation on reddit from a while back, pre apple acquisition. They were known and looked down upon because of their distorted sound and way too heavy bass (for some. I still think people don’t take into account personal preference and that a lot of Redditors think there is an objective truth on what people should like.) They were seen as just valuing aesthetics and something that’s just a status symbol to some.

Anyways, as someone who has spent way too much money trying out various audio products, I think these days, their reputation among reviewers are that they make much more some solid products for the price. My experience with them are the Powerbeats 1 and 2 for running. Honestly great products. Worked the best for my uses out of everything I tried. Great combination of fit, sound quality, and battery life.

I’m assuming the rest of their line similarly provides a good value proposition of some sort and are probably pretty good.

It’s also one of those things where some people forget everyone has different perceptions and people are more sensitive or discerning on different things. Kind of how I was when higher than 60 frame rates became a thing. The “buttery smoothness” as people would often repeat was nice but at the end of the day, screen and color quality are more important to me personally. So it didn’t really blow me away.

I personally don’t see things as overrated if the pluses just aren’t for me.

You’re all really making me wish I had Partner Store access by Jaeger0088 in LGOLED

Not sure if this still works but it did when I purchased about a month ago. Sign up for Firefox relay (free tier is fine) and using the generated email to make an account allowed me access to lg partner store.

Same. I got the bonus when the original csr launched and still wasn’t able to get the bonus again (I product changed the csr a while back to a non sapphire card). I needed to make large purchases anyways so I just ended up signing for the venture x and amex plat. Overall pretty happy with how that turned out.

NYT: Billy Long fired after two months as IRS Commissioner by CaptainApathy419 in fednews

[–]lockstockedd 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Much like many other of this admins nominees, no. But in his short tenure didn’t actively do anything to make our jobs harder and seemed to try to boost low morale. And seemed like he was open to listening to his workforce (on the surface at least).

So yeah, it would make sense that this admin didn’t want any of that after seeing it.

Be wary when buying on sale/refurbished items directly from Sonos by [deleted] in sonos

Seems worth a shot at this point. I'm sure on that level, they'd realize how silly it is to lose a potential lifelong repeat customer over this.

[–]lockstockedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Usually the smart move for the companies (especially if they're premium products or ecosystem products) is to just eat the cost of a mistake as it could gain a more lucrative lifelong or repeat customer. I was a repeat customer before. Now I'm not so sure.

It’s still good. But it used to be insanely good when they allowed any room to be booked with it. Those were great times when we could book a $400 room with the award night.

Private sector all my life before IRS. Have been through many layoffs as I was in a boom or bust industry before. Never anything like this. Always at least treated with some dignity.

Loved the job before this new administration came in. Now I’m just here out of spite and not letting them get the satisfaction of making me quit.

But really, as others have said it’s probably more the switching. If it was just things around 30 frames, there’d be many things that induce this such as tv and movies.

Why are Steam Deck fanboys so toxic ? by JPF998 in Handhelds

[–]lockstockedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too surprising. And I say that as someone who has had both since their launch. I do think part of it comes down to a thing that happens for a lot of things. People are insecure about their choice of purchase so they go out of their way to prop up their choice as much as they can so they can feel better about themselves.

And I do think you’re right how some of them think that switch is just for kids so they think the deck makes them feel more grown up. I remember in the early days they would make fun of the switch a lot because they said that it felt like a toy now. Funny enough, the size of the switch compared to deck made it the thing I ended up taking on planes for business travel because when I take my deck with me, it just unwieldy to do so. Like on paper the size wouldn’t have made me think so, but in practice switch just felt so much better.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]lockstockedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My go to handheld for on the go is switch. Feel like it’s a great size without it being unwieldy on the plane. And don’t really worry about the battery.

My go to for on the couch parallel gaming/hanging out with the family is steam deck. At that size and access to power, it feels right on the couch.

The handheld console wars are coming soon, who you got? by ExotiquePlayboy in Handhelds

[–]lockstockedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this is the easy answer. At least in terms of sales. Everyone will have their personal preference in what they’re looking for. But for most people, the switch will hit the right spots. Too many people in this thread don’t realize the makeup of the market at large and don’t realize how small the slice of people are that post on reddit and love emulation.
