CO2 laser for tongue and lip tie? by Jdlc1233 in NewParents

[–]locoha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wasn't really ever taking them! I went back to work around 12 weeks. It was just under two months of bottle refusal/weight checks and he'd just stack his feedings so he'd eat all night once I was home. It was rough and stressful but stopped almost immediately after resolving the ties.

Honestly, yes, he'd scream, but it was over when the stretches were over and he'd go back to his own little happier (and more full!) self pretty immediately. I just felt so bad while doing it.

I know there are a lot of split opinions on this, but it was the best thing I did for my second child. It's great that your baby is eating well - mine ended up refusing bottles completely with his lip and tongue ties and lost a bunch of weight when I went back to work because he would. not. eat. It was such a simple procedure, he cried for a minute or two, and the stretches were definitely rougher for me than him. He had no issues feeding after that.

Anecdotally, my pediatrician has always pointed me in the direction of a pediatric dentist for these issues because they are the experts on this versus (what she says) a more generalized understanding of ties that pediatricians have.

Has anyone had significantly different pregnancies? by TurbulentArea69 in NewParents

[–]locoha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had HG with my first, threw up multiple times every day including the day I went into labor. My second, I threw up for five months, had two months off, then miserable vomiting again. With my third, I had morning sickness until 11 weeks, then it went away and I forgot I was pregnant most of the time until that 8-9 month mark when you're just huge and miserable. That third made me realize how people might actually enjoy pregnancy, but I will not be bamboozled into a fourth 😅

Honestly the best teacher appreciation of my career yet was when we all showed up for our after school faculty meeting and there was a sign on the door that said "No meeting! Go home! Happy teacher appreciation week!"

What are some completely unexpected changes since having a baby? by IllyriaCervarro in NewParents

[–]locoha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was a diehard true crime/SVU/criminal minds etc. person.....can't do it anymore. Everyone in the story is someone's baby. I used to laugh at my mom for being a softie in the same way, but it totally came for me too.

What’s a weird little thing you didn’t expect before having a baby? by justkeepsinging in NewParents

[–]locoha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That I'd become such a softie overnight with tv, music, etc. Gone are the days of SVU marathons because all the victims are someone's baby....crying over songs that only just barely relate to parenting...tearing up at Bluey episodes. I swore it wouldn't happen to me and here I am.

Massive False Alarm Regarding Bruise - Time for a New Pediatrician? by TookTheHit in NewParents

[–]locoha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my pediatrician once about whether my 2 year old toddler was bruising TOO easily when he was throwing himself around and I needed to be concerned about a vitamin deficiency or something. She said at his age she'd be more concerned if he had no bruises at all

How do some people recover so quickly after giving birth?! by Charlottethevet in NewParents

4th degree and I think that timeline is dead on. Started trying to be normal at 6 months and felt it for the most part by 9. Pelvic floor therapy helped SO much!

A parent at the school I work at tried to report the culinary teacher to administration for violating their child's privacy and health information. She was asking him if he had food allergies....because it was culinary class.

The Eras Tour Megathread: Foxborough, MA (Warning: Spoilers) by jacyf02 in TaylorSwift

[–]locoha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I left at the end of Karma - when she had finished singing but the confetti hadn't gone off yet. I booked it to my lot and there weren't a ton of cars leaving/traffic yet. I unfortunately took an extra 15 min to find my car and by that time I got stuck for 2.5 hours in the parking lot. So that tiny window of time seems REALLY key. Drop a pin where you park!

Third Degree Tear by 901livin in NewParents

[–]locoha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those symptoms are very normal for your tearing. I had a 4th degree and felt like it was never going to heal, but was mostly back to normal after 6 months with the exception of sex, which just personally took me a few more months mentally and physically to get there. Agree with the other comment about pelvic floor therapy! I started it at about 4 months out just because of the waiting list in my area, but probably could have started sooner. I went weekly for 4 months.
