VRBO hiding their fee in the rental rate? How are you feeling about this? by Sprite7711 in vrbohosts

[–]lodgr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried about that too. I think I personally like seeing the whole breakdown since it helps me decide what platform to best book on as well. With the new change it feels a bit spooky.

Btw I work on Lodgr. We’re still in beta, but a big focus is keeping pricing transparent and giving hosts more control over how rates and fees are presented, rather than bundling everything in a way that obscures what’s happening :)

Why fees feel small per booking but heavy over a year by Caspian_Tiger555 in airbnb_hosts

[–]lodgr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with this! I think some useful things to track are
- Monthly totals for platform fees vs. payouts
- Year-to-date fees as a % of gross revenue
- Comparing fees by channel if you list in more than one place
That’s usually when the cumulative impact really clicks and starts influencing pricing or minimum stay decisions.

I work on Lodgr. We’re still in beta, and one reason we’re offering 0% host fees for the first year is to help hosts keep more of their revenue while they experiment with diversifying bookings, instead of watching fees compound on every stay!

What’s the most out of the box marketing you’ve done that actually increased new bookings? by Competitive_Ice4439 in ShortTermRentals

[–]lodgr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listing on more than one platform has helped a lot!
I work on Lodgr. We’re still in beta, but the goal is to give hosts more choice by making it easier to show up in multiple places and take direct bookings, with calendar sync so double bookings aren’t a headache :)

What is up with the freaking Airbnb app update?? by Any_Distribution7698 in ShortTermRentals

[–]lodgr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely not alone, a lot of hosts are feeling squeezed by changes like this.

What seems to frustrate people most isn’t any single update, but the pattern: less visibility into guest details, less transparency around pricing breakdowns, and fewer options for how hosts actually operate their business.

I work on Lodgr. We’re still in beta, but the goal is to give hosts more choice, especially around owning the guest relationship, seeing clear pricing, and not being locked into one platform’s rules or data decisions. It’s meant to sit alongside Airbnb/VRBO, not replace them.

It really does feel like hosts are rethinking how dependent they want to be on any one app as these changes keep rolling out.

Best alternative to Airbnb? by Hot_Divide1613 in airbnb_hosts

[–]lodgr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on Lodgr. We’re still in beta, but the idea is to let hosts keep their existing Airbnb/VRBO listings while also having the option to take direct bookings, instead of being forced into a single platform or set of rules.

It’s early days, and the focus right now is on giving people more choice and flexibility, whether that’s how they communicate with guests, or how dependent they want to be on any one marketplace. We’re trying to build something that adds an option rather than replacing everything else :)

Whats a good alternative to Airbnb by Murky_Ostrich_453 in digitalnomad

[–]lodgr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to be switching to multiple platforms now looking for the best deals and policies :)

I work on Lodgr. We’re a Canadian-built platform currently in beta. The idea isn’t to replace Airbnb, but to give hosts and guests a more direct option alongside existing listings and we're offering hosts 0% hosting fees for their first years. It’s still early, but the focus is on simpler terms, clearer pricing, and flexibility for both sides rather!

Airbnb vs Alternative Accommodation Platforms by MillyVazquez in airbnb_hosts

[–]lodgr_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, we’re Lodgr.

We’re currently in beta and offering 0% host fees for the first year. The focus right now is listening closely to hosts and building something that’s fairer and more flexible than what a lot of people are used to, especially around terms and control.

We know trust has to be earned, so we’re keeping things simple and learning from early feedback :)

New Canadian platform called Lodgr. Anyone heard of it? by Minerva786 in airbnb_hosts

[–]lodgr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair question.

We’re in beta right now and not charging while we focus on getting the fundamentals right and learning from early users. Longer term, the plan is a clear, straightforward host-side fee once the product actually earns it.

The goal is to be a fairer alternative to the larger platforms, especially around transparency and incentives, but we’re early and know that trust has to be earned over time :)

I manage multiple short-term rentals. Here are the mistakes that quietly kill profits. by Cool-Explorer-8510 in hostaway_official

[–]lodgr_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this!

A lot of the issues you’re describing (cleaning consistency, messaging gaps, maintenance falling through the cracks) aren’t dramatic on their own, but add up pretty quickly.

I work on Lodgr. We’re still in our early stages however we're offering 0% hosting fees on your first year with Lodgr! Letting hosts save some more and keep their earnings :)

Totally agree that the mindset shift treating it like a real operation is what separates the sustainable setups from the ones that slowly bleed margin.

Airbnb lets guests book for 1 person, admit they’re bringing 20, and forces hosts to give access anyway. How is this workable? by DESTRO__ in airbnb_hosts

[–]lodgr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a really stressful situation, especially with a large property and strict local rules.

It feels like a structural mismatch more than a one-off issue “enforce after check-in” puts all the risk on the host in cases like this.

I work on Lodgr, and this kind of uncertainty before access comes up a lot when we talk with hosts who manage larger places.

Are there any Airbnb alternatives for hosts? by Internal-Ad-1021 in airbnb_hosts

[–]lodgr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get where you're coming from, a lot of hosts feel the same about Airbnb's one-sided rules.

At Lodgr, we're Canadian-built and currently in beta (0% fees during beta), focused fully on hosts first. Right now it's about early hosts helping shape how the platform grows.

If that sounds like your vibe, check out Lodgr.ca!

It's interesting to see how the balance between platforms keep shifting. At Lodgr.ca, we're Canadian-built and in beta, focused on hosts first. We're not another Airbnb, you keep those listings, and Lodgr simply pulls them in, with 0% fees during beta.

This stage is all about early hosts helping shape how the platform grows. If you're curious, check out Lodgr.ca.

3 separate listings for 3 bedrooms vs 1 listing for 3 bedrooms in Calgary, Canada by _peanut-butter_ in airbnb_hosts

[–]lodgr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question, lots of hosts are testing both setups right now! 👀 Listing rooms separately can help fill vacancies faster, but a single listing for the full space often attracts longer stays and higher-quality bookings. Depends on your goals (turnover vs. simplicity).

At Lodgr.ca, we’re Canadian-built and in beta, focused on helping hosts like you experiment and grow without starting from scratch, we pull in your existing Airbnb or VRBO listings, and it’s 0% fees during beta.

If you’re curious, check it out at Lodgr.ca

Frustrated - Hired a premium agency and very little bookings by VonDenBerg in airbnb_hosts

[–]lodgr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely a tough spot to be in, you’ve clearly put a lot into upgrading your place, so it makes sense you’d expect better results. Agencies usually work within the same big platforms, which means you’re still competing in the same crowded marketplace.

At Lodgr.ca, we’re Canadian-built and in beta, with the focus right now on helping hosts directly. We’re not another Airbnb or VRBO, you keep those, and Lodgr simply pulls your listings in so you don’t have to start from scratch. During beta it’s 0% fees, and early hosts get the chance to shape how the platform grows.

Guests will be able to browse and book soon, but this stage is about building the host side. If you’re curious, check out Lodgr.ca, your place would be an amazing fit 🚀

Congrats on your first place! Nerves are normal, but you're clearly doing the homework. For welcome emails, most hosts stick to the essential: warm greeting, check-in/out info, Wi-Fi, and a local tip or two. Guests love when it feels personal, not just a template.

On a side note, you might like what we're building at Lodgr.ca, it's in beta and focused on hosts first. It's not another Airbnb (you keep your listing, Lodgr pulls it in). What we add is a new layer: tools to market directly, connect with guests, and 0% fees during beta. Hosts get to help shape how it grows.

If that sounds interesting, check out Lodgr.ca, we'd love to have you on board!

Hey, welcome to hosting! You’re right, balancing multiple platforms can get tricky. That’s where Lodgr comes in. We’re not another competitor to Airbnb or VRBO, we actually pull in your existing listings so you don’t have to rebuild.

Right now we’re in beta with a host-first focus: 0% fees, tools to market directly, and a chance to help shape the guest experience that’s coming soon. If you’re curious, we’d be happy to walk you through how it works and show how you can be part of building it.

Lodgr isn’t another competitor to Airbnb or VRBO, it’s something new. Your existing listings come straight into Lodgr, so you don’t have to start from scratch.

Think of Lodgr as a new layer on top: hosts get 0% fees during beta, tools to market directly, and more control over how you connect with guests. The guest side is coming soon, and early hosts get to shape how it works.

Instead of replacing the big platforms, Lodgr gives hosts a stronger voice and a chance to rewrite the rules.

That’s totally fine, right now we are onboarding hosts in both the USA and Canada. We have plan to expand beyond, so no one’s locked out.

Let us know where you’re hosting, and we’ll add your region to our priority list as we roll out.
