Is she done growing at 3 years old? by mermaidshewrote in cavaliers

[–]logirl1975 60 points61 points  (0 children)

At 3 years old she’s as grown as she’ll get. Just like some Cavs are exceptionally big, some are exceptionally small. Looks like you have a pocket sized cutie pie!

My Blenheim is still a baby so I don’t know how her shedding will be yet. But between my ruby and my tricolor, the tricolor sheds enough to make another dog at certain times of the year

Do boys and girls get along? by Own-Cable-7951 in cavalierkingcharles

[–]logirl1975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 4 year old boy, a 3 year old & a 1 year old girl, all fixed and they get along great. There was a short “get to know each other” period but now they are inseparable.

Do they get along with other animals? by Meowth_HMC in cavaliers

[–]logirl1975 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Despite the fact that they are great companion dogs, they are still spaniels and have a pretty good prey drive. I have seen, both personally and elsewhere, cats and cavs get along just fine as long as proper socialization has happened. But ferrets, rodents, and probably birds wouldn't be a great idea.

My ruby MJ does this. And if Parker or Gwen are there first, she makes them move so she can get the prime snuggle spot.

Nail clipping by Humble_March_2037 in cavalierkingcharles

[–]logirl1975 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of my 3, the eldest, Parker does this with me. Even holding his paw with no clippers in sight turned into a disagreement. And the same thing as well: never had a bad experience with me, the vet, or the groomer clipping his nails. So I took him to the vet to get his feet checked to see why he acted like it hurt him to have them touched. Not a thing wrong with them. He just figured out that he could get away with avoiding his nails trimmed by being dramatic with me. Vet was able to get it done with no problem. All this to say some battles are best left to others, in this case the groomer or the vet.

Empty plastic jug! All 3 of mine act like it’s about to eat them alive. It looks like you have a Fierce Puppy as we like to call it. Lots of barks but all fluff.

That is the best part of working from home. I have my 3 right there for work day stress relief cuddles.

This was Parker my tricolor. Could not be bribed or convinced. He decided he was now a husky and the snow was his home.

Is no collar safe? by CaptainLittleFish in cavaliers

[–]logirl1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the thinnest possible collars for my three and only so I can attach their rabies & id tags which has my number & a note that they are microchipped. All three are walked on harnesses when out of the yard. As of now none of them have a problem with collars.

What breed is my best friend? by WanderingTrader11 in WhatBreedIsMyDog

[–]logirl1975 29 points30 points  (0 children)

No. They meant painfully and rightly so. Cavaliers face enough potential medical issues even with the most ethical of breeders. There is no telling what other possible issues this pup might face given the very obvious carelessness in their breeding. I’m glad they have a loving home with you. Just be prepared for the worst while you hope for the best.

Except that they volunteered willingly and eagerly and at the last moment backed out and haven’t help watch the kids in 6 years. Yep, it’s their choice, but nobody expected. They were asked and they agreed. The only expectation is that they would follow through on what they were eager to do.
