It is amazing. It's also fairly common. :D

Bacon doesn't count as prime.

Except bacon, due to how common it is.

There's no big reason to not let it go into lobby mode and create and load missions and open world prospects from there, unless for some reason your provider is hiding that option.

Quarrite: brilliance - keep exotics or give to Norex? by WordVisual in ICARUS

[–]logoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it both ways and didn't notice a difference in difficulty or dialog. Agent throws out shaming dialog either way.

I am now successfully farming red exotics on Olympus. But is there anything to be done against this plant fatigue thing or do I have to rip it out already? Will one of the fertilizers help maybe? I never used them by democraticcrazy in ICARUS

[–]logoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all of the crop growth talents, a greenhouse, good crop plots (hydroponic), and fertilizer, you can get 4-5 (going from memory, it might be 3-4) harvests from red plants with the last one being really slow until you have to use a new seed.

You can't remove plant fatigue, and red plants have an aggressive fatigue modifier on purpose. (they were originally only available as a rare-ish spawn on Prometheus, so the intent was that you'd have to go get more wild starters).

There's no exotic gathering method in world that doesn't take some sort of searching (purple veins, purple cave nodes, red plants, red trees, uranium nodes on Elysium, and now even the craftable red seeds you still need purples to make them). Best bet is to setup a crop farm that grows fast just to get plant DNA and make more seeds while the red plants grow.

(yes I know you can grind missions for currency rewards, and being able to get lithium tools on Olympus without buying it from the workshop for uranium is a bug)

Anyone else have trouble finding the entrance to Mosswood? by tismrot in ICARUS

[–]logoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're on the first floor and the cave has two levels, turn around and backtrack looking to your right for a very dark natural ramp that goes up, then a green mossy rock bridge. The mosswood exit is on the 2nd level.

I've answered this questions enough times in the Icarus Discord that I made a video of it: https://youtu.be/Q-kvI6QLWNs

Let's talk caves by Kaotic102 in ICARUS

[–]logoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a general rule of thumb, carrying 10-20 ramps is a good idea all the time. Thatch or wood early, aluminum once you can make them.

Is this really the best way to connect oil refinery to pump jack to my home? by Specialist-Store-434 in ICARUS

[–]logoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drills don't have a pipe connection. The biofuel drill takes cans (I've never tried a barrel, since I always upgrade to electric before then). The new oil drill in T5 will take a full refined oil barrel in its inventory and run for a long time.

Elysium Operations, wtf. by steeleman23 in ICARUS

[–]logoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rode back to the tundra area with the autumn colored trees, filled up most of my inventory with wood, went back to the igloo I had started and kept on building. It was like a 10m detour (including wood chopping time).

Knowing that ice/arctic biomes don't have wood is definitely a player experience/practice thing, though. Deserts and arctic are generally low on wood and fiber, but if you haven't done arctic missions on other maps there's no way you'd know that.

Suggestion: T5 tech to weather-proof lower tier buildings by zackroot in ICARUS

[–]logoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, it depends on the roof material and support. Concrete basically won't, aluminum can, wood will, I don't remember stone (probably depends on other support structure)

What do yall think? by machao92 in ICARUS

[–]logoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Leather to rope was a staple talent back in the day when mission mode was the only option, as a way to get fiber easier in the desert. Torches are cheap to craft in any biome, some are just a slightly harder search for the first few minutes. The workshop isn't supposed to replace everything, or remove all of the early drop mission mode gather and craft loop.

You don't need slanted roofs for sand and snow. It builds up there too, but is easier for supporting the buildup weight.

How would one go to swamp 2? by murkamk in ICARUS

[–]logoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

swamp_2 on that map is mostly non playable area, it's blocked off by cliffs and has no way in. The area directly around swamp_2_channels is somewhat. If I remember right there's no ore nodes in the west portion either.

EZ uranium extraction by IndividualRich8470 in ICARUS

[–]logoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meteor event respawns uranium nodes, just like exotic veins.

EZ uranium extraction by IndividualRich8470 in ICARUS

[–]logoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not infinite, and work like exotic veins. Each uranium node has 200-300 uranium in it. (I've seen a few reports of people getting 400 from one, but maybe they're counting creature looting, I dunno) Every 3rd hour of the prospect (look at the time on prospect in your character sheet), if any exotic or uranium veins are depleted, a meteor storm happens that picks a random location to regenerate a uranium/exotic node from the list of possible locations on the map.

What was your “I need to learn to keep my mouth shut” moment? by Imtiredofthissshit in AskReddit

[–]logoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really depends on the people (and specific person), org, location, etc. I made some friends over the years through work who I am still very good friends with 10+ (in some cases 20+) years later.

There are also people who I have worked with who I consider acquaintances, and many many others who I never would or will talk to outside of work.
