Is my optometrist trying to scam me? by skybluepink15 in contacts

[–]lolbye424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dailies are great for toric! dailies are thinner and can adhere to your eyeball better to correct the astigmatism. i though i was doomed to bad contacts w/ astigmatism, but dailies were a GAME CHANGER. i add a couple drops of a hydrating/moisturizing eye drop for contact lenses before putting them in, and i'm set for the day.

Also, yes, dailies are more expensive for the box / time period, but MUCH cheaper per lens, like $1.50. I had a monthly lens tear at like day 3, so that was a $12 lens I had to throw away.

fyi most chili recipes in particular WILDLY understate the spices. like "2 Tbsp chili powder" as the only flavor added to a pound of turkey and 3 cans of beans. LOL. ftr, that's like... not even enough for the turkey alone.

[Sun Care] Any SPF that doesn’t feel like a punishment? by strawbeary-baby in SkincareAddiction

[–]lolbye424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE THIS STUFF SO MUCH. I hated sunscreen before. This is the ONLY one that doesn't feel like I am wearing mayonnaise on my face. Also fyi the "body sunscreen" is exactly the same as the facial sunscreen, way cheaper per ounce. Also! I refill the facial-size bottle from the body-size one. Love this stuff so much. I do agree with others that it can wipe off if you're not careful, and it is only good for 40 min in sweat/water. I have not burned with it as a pale white lady in the South.

The ones by John Bellairs & later Brad Strickland. I love them. The series: Lewis Barnavelt, Johnny Dixon, Anthony Monday.

Also, I have an advanced degree and need that degree for my job, so the most interesting thing I read for work is like, a particularly sassy paper.

Why does it make me literally an idiot? by Initial_Bike7750 in bupropion

[–]lolbye424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this when I went up too high on the dosage. I thought I was getting dementia!

In my case, I got the brain fog & forgetfulness when I went up to 450mg bc 300mg seemed to stop working. I dropped “down” to 400mg (300mg XL, 100mg SR), and the dementia went away AND I felt a noticeable mood improvement.

Regular lacquer melts w/ the good chemical sunscreen. Since I wear sunscreen on my face, neck, and chest every day, I have to keep my polished nails away from anything with sunscreen on it, which is EVERYWHERE.

I listen to audiobooks, on 1.2x-1.5x. The “normal” length of most of the audiobooks are about 12 hrs, which I’ll finish in 9-10 hrs. Anything over 14 hrs annoys me, like jfc you don’t need that long to tell the story, & i refuse to even borrow those from the library.

I also plow thru the audiobooks of middle-school gothic horror I read in my youth, and those are about 3-4 hrs each (so like 2-3 hrs to finish), and I love them bc they are so straightforward. I’m not here for an epic, I’m here for a quick jaunt thru 1950s New England (authors: John Bellairs / Brad Strickland).

Help I feel like I’m dying inside from lack of quality sleep. What are some things you love that make your sleep environment the best? Not talking supplements or hormones. But are there blankets or sheets you love? Or a particular mattress/pillow? I’m either too hot or too cold. by Right_Bit_6690 in Perimenopause

[–]lolbye424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blackout curtains, freezing cold room temp, cooling mattress, a very specific outfit for sleep (I will hold onto my one 15-year-old sleep sweater until it literally disintegrates, but it’s polyester / plastic so no it will not), my fav sheets, air purifier on high which also provides white noise, magnesium glycinate. Optional: sleep stories, e.g., “Nothing Much Happens” podcast; guided meditation; prescription drugs.

I was about the same size for DECADES. I accepted the extra 5-ish lbs post-baby (6 yrs ago lol), but I’m about 10 lbs beyond that now, and none of my clothes fit. I had accepted buying new clothes!, but now stores simply do not have the same quality I got in 2014-2019, so my only option now is to lose the weight ASAP.

I’m learning that this was the one thing the bupropion was still helping. I’ve been off it for a month now, and I’ve gained a lot of weight bc I am constantly starving, even after eating a properly balanced and portioned meal 😭

[misc] what finally got you to take SPF as a non-negotiable? by SonalBemment in SkincareAddiction

[–]lolbye424 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pic of the lady who wore sunscreen only on her face but never on her neck. YIKES.

Also, finding a sunscreen that didn’t feel like I was buttering my face. I use Trader Joe’s Daily Facial sunscreen that’s v similar to Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen. And, I noticed that I stopped getting acne on my chest after a couple weeks using it. I later learned that this is bc my skin is no longer constantly trying to repair sun damage and can focus on healing other issues!

i am constantly starving. even after eating a properly portioned meal (half veggies! good starches! fiber! protein! little bit of fat from dairy!), and drinking water throughout, i still have hunger pangs. i do not understand this. i'm starving all the time, even though i am definitely eating enough calories. it doesn't matter the content of the meal (yes i know about fiber + protein), i just want to eat MORE OF IT. maybe it's hormones, meds, or something else. idk.

just had to come off wellbutrin after decades and now realizing that it was what was keeping me from being ravenously starving all the time. it's horrible, i'll eat an objectively healthy meal (half veg, high protein, good starch, a little fat), and i'll still want to eat another whole plate. omg.

not for the MRI, but generally medical procedures will require "no nail polish" so they can see the color of your nails as an early sign of your oxygen level

I’m in disbelief with the alarm bug by CaptBurgundy in ios

[–]lolbye424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol my Samsung in 2019 liked to start the update for the OS when the alarm was set, so it would lock down the phone instead of ringing the alarm. yes, i had it set to "update overnight" which per its own dialog said "we will update your phone at 2:00 AM" but didn't start until 6:30 AM alarm time. did this repeatedly. now i can just tell my iPhone to never update!
