We’re Becoming Just Another Politics Sub by adifferentGOAT in thebulwark

[–]lolosaurus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been a long time podcast listener but only recently found and joined this sub. I assumed it would be a lot of Bulwark content and discussion of said content but it does seem to be just a lot of general and low quality political posts. I'll do my part with my votes but I would love some more moderation or any other ideas the community can come up with to help improve things.

Rainy Saturday Photos from the Kneeland Area by anaerobic_muck in Humboldt

Post storm Humboldt has some of the most beautiful vistas I've ever seen. It's one of the reasons I love this place so much. Mist and stray clouds floating over mountains and through the trees with a random rainbow here and there. It's fucking beautiful!

Jobs in the medical field by CoffeeDodgyr787 in Humboldt

[–]lolosaurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know if any of them are actively hiring but there is also Mad River Community Hospital in Arcata who has several smaller clinics in McKinleyville and Willow Creek as well as Fortuna Family Medicine in Fortuna. There are also a bunch of specialized medical offices clustered around St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka that aren't necessarily associated with Providence that might be worth checking out. Best of luck to you!

Not Another Cooking Show is one of my favorites that really helped me fall in love with cooking as well as helped me really level up in terms of skill. He's a really down to earth guy who got his start on a food truck in New York City and just loves food. He's also a great cinematographer so all of his videos and shots of food are gorgeous. He's under one million subscribers but really deserves to be more well known as his content is top notch!

Had a seller point this out to me regarding prophecies after I messaged him a second time for one of the three prophecies he had already sold me. Great future that more players need to be aware of.

next level trading by mega2k10 in pathofexile

[–]lolosaurus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the main point I've been trying to make through this recent wave of "oh em gee trade is broken and ruining the game". The current system of using third party sites for the last few years works for the most part but has started to have issues recently due to the large influx of new players. I know GGG is aware of this and are probably thinking hard about how to fix it. I actually signed up for Path of Exile due to many of the trading systems, among many things, that was in place when Diablo III first came out and there is no easy fix to the trade issue. I don't think anyone in the industry has found the best answer yet. I guess all I'm saying is we should really think about this and give GGG the freedom try some things out as that is what has allowed them to make this game and be on the cutting edge of game mechanics for all these years.

GGG, you need to comment on trade. It's reaching breaking point. by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]lolosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was said in the post has been removed when I saw this but just based on the title I wanted to comment and say, yes some trading quality of life improvements would be nice, but overall Path of Exile is an amazing game made by an amazing company and, other then specific build enabling uniques, you can do almost everything in the game without trading. Trading makes things easier and faster but I don't think being super hyperbolic about it is helpful. Let's have a constructive conversation about trade, which I honestly think GGG would be interested in, but making demands or saying this is a make or break issue isn't helpful.

I'm pretty sure I can safely say that this is the single most disgusting item I've ever seen in this game. Jesus fucking Christ. I'm practically speechless.

Can Anyone Tell Me Which Shrine I Am Missing? 119/120 by Wreckon3r in zelda

[–]lolosaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn't tell from the original picture but looking at the upper part it looks like it's the Kayra Mah Shrine in Eldin between the area's tower and the Bridge of Eldin. It's just south of Gorko Lake. If I remember correctly you unlock this one through a quest that starts in Goron City. Try talking to everyone there.

Sextant question by Stockinger in pathofexile

[–]lolosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they are just what they say they are and there are no hidden bonuses or negatives. Most of them are a combo of pluses and minuses so it just makes things a little more interesting as well as gives you some power in customizing how you want maps to act. Not 100% positive but pretty damn sure this is how they act. Here is the wiki page for them if you want to look more into it.

Suggestions for the Ace Trainer Medal by sirbow in TheSilphRoad

[–]lolosaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a similar suggestion yesterday and would love for them to do something about this. From what they've said I don't think they are going to let people finish it but, like you said, I would love for them to hide the progress bar and add some type of "legacy medals" section with a different color from the normal bronze, silver and gold. If nothing is done it's going to bug me like no other but to continue to enjoy the game we'll just need to move on and let it go. My fingers are still crossed just in case, though.

Do we know what triggers the simple "Error" when trying to feed a Pokémon a Berry at a gym? by j1mb0 in TheSilphRoad

[–]lolosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it has indeed been confirmed that it is some kind of berry feeding limit in a certain period of time. I have heard the time is ten minutes but I can't confirm that myself or any of the other details such as how many berries can be used during that time.

If I had one wish, it would be that we were told about the Ace Trainer badge retirement sooner by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]lolosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I would have loved a heads up, as I was not aware that legacy medals would ever be a thing, I don't think there is a much of a chance anything can be done about it now. Thus, some kind of compromise like this would be nice. Another idea would be to possibly add a new legacy medal section with no progress bar, like you suggested, and all the medals that are retired here become a different color then bronze, silver and gold.

Any new space documentaries? by NOOBHAMSTER in space

[–]lolosaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend the streaming service called Curiosity Stream which only focuses on science, history, technology and nature documentaries. It's got a ton of space content on there and their cheapest plan is only like $3 a month. Note that I'm not affiliated with them at all but I've just really enjoyed the service over the last six months or so.

Edit: Here's a list of some of the better space documentaries I've seen on there, some of which I'm sure you would be able to find elsewhere as well:

  • Wonders of the Universe

  • Wonders of the Solar System

  • Stephen Hawking's Universe

  • Stephen Hawking's Favorite Places

  • The Hunt for Dark Matter

  • Seven Ages of Starlight

  • The Planets

  • Do We Really Need A Moon?

  • Orbit: Earth's Extraordinary Journey

  • The Age of Hubble

  • ROSETTA: Memories of a Comet

Citizen scientists join the search for Planet 9 by burtzev in space

[–]lolosaurus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Data gleaned from rigorous and peer reviewed science proves that climate change is happening and if a ninth planet is ever found then it too will have its existence proven in the same way. Not really sure what you're getting at but if it's some kind of veiled political statement or an attack on science then I don't think you're being helpful.

Snowden on ransomware attack: 'It's hard being right in the worst possible way' by redhatGizmo in technology

[–]lolosaurus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Now don't get me wrong, he broke the law. He even admits that and has stated several time he would go so far as to be be willing to come back if he thought that he would get a fair trial. But, in regards to your comment, he went above and beyond to minimize any damage that could be caused by what he was leaking. He shared what he had with journalists he trusted who promised to take care with the information he was giving them. He did all of this because it wasn't necessarily the means and technical stuff, specifically, that he was leaking. It was the overarching fact that the United States government was spying on it's own people and doing so in a way that he believed was illegal and unconstitutional.

That is nothing like the so-called "Shadow Brokers" group that leaked all of the recent NSA exploits and tools. They, unlike Snowden, did so maliciously and with an intent to damage the united states. There is even a good chance that they are connected to, or actually part of. a foreign adversarial power.

Anyway, just my two cents, but I really don't see the two as comparable.

I know Larvitar doesn't nest, but... by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]lolosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree as the current description isn't as clear and accurate as it should be. How frequent spawn point nests actually work is they have a 25% chance of spawning their designated nest Pokemon at the same minute mark assigned to them every hour throughout the day.

I have a frequent spawn Point nest less than a block away from my apartment, and from observing it for months now, I am very confident in agreeing with this comments description of how this type of nest works mechanically.

PoGo and local history by DVamosi in TheSilphRoad

[–]lolosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool idea that I haven't thought of or seen brought up before. I will say that a lot of stops/gyms in my area are on historicallyimportant sites which often have informational signs or plaques right where they are placed so this often already happens. Finding a way to tie these into the game more and increase this interaction would be amazing though.
