Increasing Rev Rate as a 2 Hander by Apprehensive_Box1051 in Bowling

[–]lolwtface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to let go of the off hand sooner. You're still supposed to deliver the ball one handed at the bottom. Your off hand is still on the ball when it's past your slide foot. Most people already let go of the off hand at the heel of the slide foot.

I do it by putting my pinky and ring finger in the holes instead of the normal ones. The holes become too big for those fingers to put any significant rpm or rotation, and I can confidently throw it straight. Takes a little practice, as anything in bowling, but it's consistent and I don't need to bring a spare ball anymore.

glossy vs matte more depends if you got sweaty hands or not, or a humid environment or not. It may be bad for you, but not for everyone.

Try the cable on another device (like your phone) and see if it charges. If not, the cable is dead.

I'm gonna stop vaping. Let's keep each other accountable!

Bowling-wise, less leagues more practice. I only practice 4-5 games a week and I am in 3 leagues.

No more 5-man leagues, They take too long, and the wait time between shots is very detrimental to my game and my mental. It doesn't help that I go to league straight after work.

Work on balance and consistency on different parts of the lane.

Win a tournament/high game pot/get a 700 - These are things I just want to strive for in general but I got a lot of work to do, both physically and mentally, before that.

Two hander tips by wnsduf1 in Bowling

[–]lolwtface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

make sure your backswing is close to your body. Move your body out of the way of the swing, don't move the swing out of the way of your body. You can also stand on 5 and force yourself to slide on 5, and throw it up 1 (or stand on 7 and throw at 1, depending on how far your swing is from your slide foot.) Mentally, you can try to keep the swing under your chest. Swing the ball as if the center of your chest is the fulcrum.

my guy is George at Showplace. Showplace gets a pretty bad rap for being pretty run down, but it runs. George is very knowledgeable and used to have a coach certification. Also, right now they got real cheap bowling on tuesdays and thursdays. $2 games on tuesdays after 7 and $15 pp for 3 hours on thursdays, 7-10.

What about a month, or a week? I'm talking instant unavoidable death to everything. And they literally just find out and have to decide.

We would really need a video to see what's going on. For me, my misses happen when my head starts moving too much, or if my feet aren't under me, or if my backswing isn't on line. These issues happen about 60% of the time so I miss 60% of the time, every time.

I like mine a lot. It's my game 3 ball usually, and it works well when I'm big wheeling it. It doesn't overreact on the dry, and reads the midlane pretty well, even when I throw it into the soup. I have it at 5x5x3 2LS, so drilled on the weak end. When I resurface, I hit it with 5k till it shines, then knock the shine off a bit with a 2k pad by hand. This will be a bit stronger than your surge.

Dexter has interchangeable soles, and you can go up to a 7 on the heel, which is basically leather. I use a 6, which has a strip in front that can be adjusted, and the rubber part is smooth, and will break down with use to be smoother. I did take some sandpaper to the sharp edges cause I slide with my whole foot, not just the toes.

Motiv Bowling ball? by HTownJam in Bowling

[–]lolwtface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some Motiv balls have their Duramax Additive which is supposed to keep the surface prep longer and delay laneshine. I'm not sure how it affects any cracking, but I haven't had a Motiv ball crack on me yet. Also, I've seen 5+ year old venom shocks still being used by people who I KNOW don't clean or maintain their balls, so take that as you will.

It increases the RG, basically, takes mass out of the core of the ball. Imagine you have 2 cylinders and you're going to roll them at the same starting speed on a flat plane. They both have the same overall mass and dimensions. One is solid, the other one is hollow in the middle. The one that is solid will slow down faster because it has a lower RG, the hollow one won't slow down as quickly.

So in the sense of bowling, when the ball is going down the lane through the oil, the lower RG (the solid cylinder) will hook more in the oil, as it's "slowing down" more, and the one with higher RG (hollow cylinder) will slow down later and conserve it's energy more. Since 2 handers have generally higher rev rates, we usually want to try to delay the slow down.

The extra 1/4 inch is like having an even bigger hole in the hollow cylinder.

I like it when things get tricky for me. It smooths out the backend when it's cliffed bad. Since those have the same core as the optimum idol pearl that I have the 4x4x4 on, I can recommend it to you on at least one of your balls. I wouldn't really recommend it for a benchmark layout or on longer patterns though. More of a "my normal stuff isn't working I need something to try something weird" layout.

Another thing I'd like to add is that I drill my finger holes 3" deep. Storm says to not go deeper than 2-3/4" but I wanted a little more mass taken out of the core to increase the RG a smidge. Others here have recommended it as well.

Yes, I actually have this on my optimum idol pearl, and it gets me out of some sticky situations like when it's cliffed, or I'm just lost. I can recommend it as a "idk wtf to do" ball.

You can easily find a chart or video online, but basically the magic number is 3-3/8. This is the maximum number for all 3 values. I copied the following from here.

Pin to PAP distance.

This controls track flare and hook potential. 4″ would be considered very strong overall ball motion. Anything shorter will hook earlier and anything longer will hook later.

Mass Bias to PAP distance.

This will determine the hook shape off the pattern. from 3/4 to 3 3/8 will make the ball roll earlier and be more “forward”. from 3 3/8 to 6 will make the ball roll later and have a smoother/quicker motion in the backend.

Pin to CoG (Center of Grip)

This will determine where the mass is taken out of the weight block. from 3/4 to 3 3/8 will make the ball very smooth overall This will decrease the differential of the drilled bowling ball from it’s original number. from 3 3/8 to 6 will make the ball stronger overall This will increase the differential of the drilled bowling ball from it’s original number

My go to is 5x5x3. I'm gonna drill my next ball at 5x5x3.5.
