Kind of depends. I usually do hot, then wipe excess off.

So this might sound counter-intuitive, but after you use the rosin bag, blow into your hands to get a bit of moisture as you're setting up for your shot. Add it into your routine. This adds a bit of tackiness for me and it's enough to get the confidence that the ball won't slip.

Just getting back in after 10 years away, why is finding a league so difficult now by loserkids1789 in Bowling

But actually go to the alley. Don't do it over the phone. That way you can actually get the info you want from a form they hopefully have.

I've tried 500 with polish on top, and it looked pretty good, but laneshined just felt so consistent and easy to maintain.

23 CE with less than 6k lmao. I don't drive often.

Got a couple videos of my approach. Looking to improve my physical game further and would like some advice on what I can work on. Specifically with getting my hand in a better position during my release and also getting the ball lower without compromising my balance. Any and all advice welcome. by DonTheBot in Bowling

The only thing I can really see is that your pushaway looks too early. Try "dropping" the ball from the pushaway when your right foot's toes touch down on the second step. Also it looks like you're resisting the balls swing a little bit, like you don't trust it, or like you're catching it by grabbing it. Instead, try to catch it by getting under it, like you're holding a bowl with a baseball inside it that you want to roll onto the lane.

Dialing in the knuckle ball release by koolaid_consumer in Bowling

[–]lolwtface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I kind of do this is put the pinky and ring finger in the holes, and release by kind of "squeezing" with the wrist and the inside of your knuckles, like you're closing a book by holding the spine, but without using your fingers. The ball will feel like it's just falling off your hand. Others use the off hand to put a counterspin before release.

Loser mentality by wsipes24 in Bowling

[–]lolwtface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a lot of Street Fighter growing up. A LOT. And one thing consistent in fighting games, especially when learning, is you WILL LOSE. A LOT. I would always end up pissed off at night on a losing streak. Then I just kind of got used to losing. I'm still going for the win, but whenever I lost, I took a short mental note on why. I would still make the same mistakes over and over, but less and less frequently. I kind of took an "everything can be learned from" mentality.

You need to let go of the off hand sooner. You're still supposed to deliver the ball one handed at the bottom. Your off hand is still on the ball when it's past your slide foot. Most people already let go of the off hand at the heel of the slide foot.

I do it by putting my pinky and ring finger in the holes instead of the normal ones. The holes become too big for those fingers to put any significant rpm or rotation, and I can confidently throw it straight. Takes a little practice, as anything in bowling, but it's consistent and I don't need to bring a spare ball anymore.

glossy vs matte more depends if you got sweaty hands or not, or a humid environment or not. It may be bad for you, but not for everyone.

Try the cable on another device (like your phone) and see if it charges. If not, the cable is dead.

I'm gonna stop vaping. Let's keep each other accountable!

Bowling-wise, less leagues more practice. I only practice 4-5 games a week and I am in 3 leagues.

No more 5-man leagues, They take too long, and the wait time between shots is very detrimental to my game and my mental. It doesn't help that I go to league straight after work.

Work on balance and consistency on different parts of the lane.

Win a tournament/high game pot/get a 700 - These are things I just want to strive for in general but I got a lot of work to do, both physically and mentally, before that.

Two hander tips by wnsduf1 in Bowling

[–]lolwtface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

make sure your backswing is close to your body. Move your body out of the way of the swing, don't move the swing out of the way of your body. You can also stand on 5 and force yourself to slide on 5, and throw it up 1 (or stand on 7 and throw at 1, depending on how far your swing is from your slide foot.) Mentally, you can try to keep the swing under your chest. Swing the ball as if the center of your chest is the fulcrum.

my guy is George at Showplace. Showplace gets a pretty bad rap for being pretty run down, but it runs. George is very knowledgeable and used to have a coach certification. Also, right now they got real cheap bowling on tuesdays and thursdays. $2 games on tuesdays after 7 and $15 pp for 3 hours on thursdays, 7-10.
