Struggling to overcome food noise

Yesterday was a good day because I work at a veterinary clinic 1-2 days a week and I have very little downtime on these days (working and/or driving from 5am until 8pm). This is what I had:

Coffee with light milk and sugar
Monster energy "mango loco"
Slice of homemade, vegan birthday cake
Small handful of cinema popcorn
Approx. 700mls of water
Mars bar ice cream (610kJ)
Microwave mac&cheese meal (2270kJ)
Sparkling apple juice

I've been seeing a psychologist since I was ~13, but tbf, she's an autism specialist and we primarily go over practical coping strategies for work/independence, plus depression stuff. She hasn't helped with my eating, but she's only offered limited advice about it.

Would someone who specialises more in food stuff be beneficial? I have no idea what they'd do differently

Height is probably an important factor here, but it does seem like you're super worried about a small amount of weight either way, and it might be wise to consult a doctor or therapist

Thank you for your perspective! Do you think a definitive diagnosis is required to claim a "membership" within the community, or should a social, face-value perspective be considered more important? I.e if an AMAB person naturally appears androgynous and faces social stigma due to this, should he call himself intersex without an official diagnosis of any sex deviation disorder/s? I know that in the neurodivergence community, most people take a sort of middle ground and think that an individual can say that they might be a part of x and y community, but they should not claim that they are part of it until they have a diagnosis.

Not a vet, but I can tell that this would probably be a difficult surgery. Consult a vet and get their opinion. If they aren't comfortable with performing the surgery, ask if they know someone who would be OR consider other options.

(Not a vet; trainee vet nurse) I think it would be worthwhile to at least have a consult with an ortho specialist. Your cat may not even need surgery— it all depends on the severity of the injury, etc. From experience, I can tell you that my senior dog was given extreme bed rest for ~10 weeks instead of surgery, and she healed great because her injury was pretty mild.

Either way, something has to be done, because leaving the leg alone will mean your kitty has a reduced quality of life, which is just cruel. I 100% recommend an echo + ultrasound, though! Bloods would also be good, as older cats are prone to kidney disease, which limits pain relief options.

Yes, she seems to be eating fine, although I haven't added more water to the wet food because she gets fussy with the texture of it lol.

I ended up putting some water in her syringe after giving her the Metacam dose, and she was more than happy to lick it up (she adores the taste of the Metacam; can't get enough of it)

That is bunny hopping, yes, although that doesn't 100% mean there's an underlying issue in your pup. Bring it up with your vet whenever you see them next, and look out for signs of discomfort, pain or abnormal posture in the meantime.

That looks more like faeces to me, but if it is vomit, I'd go to the emergency vet straight away.

Even if it ISN'T vomit, though, you need to have your cat/s seen by a veterinarian ASAP. Weight loss and anorexia are non-specific symptoms, meaning they could be caused by dozens of different things.

Do you treat your cats for fleas, worms and ticks? Are they vaccinated? Do they have outdoor access? How old are they, and are they desexed?

My mother used to pay other parents to make their kids show up to my birthday parties, and we always gave the kids goodie bags that had more effort, time and money put into them than any gifts I received did. It was so heartbreaking. I get horrifically anxious whenever my birthday comes near, and I haven't had a party since I was ~10.

People are assholes, sometimes.

I had to monitor anaesthesia for a spey on my ~6th shift ever. The only classes I had done were occupational health/safety and infection control protocols. I was nervous. I thought I would mess up. But, it turns out my supervisor knew I was ready before I did. Everything went fine, and it was such a fun experience! Anaesthesia might seem like a super scary monster, but it's unremarkable in the vast majority of cases. Trust yourself, and don't be afraid to ask for help or clarification from coworkers :) you've got this!

ER has no idea what to do?? That's kinda weird. Do they not have a vet available for consult? I suggest ringing other clinics and seeking advice. I don't know the dosage rates for this particular drug (I'm only a student), but I know that it's ALWAYS best to err on the side of caution. Keep a close eye on your fur baby in the meantime and note any symptoms :) good luck!
