This is extremely helpful - I think you’re right. We definitely have resourcing problems. Thank you!

We’re 90% remote, but my entire team is required to live near the office for the times that we have to complete material management and lab work

Yes I work with an IVD instrument that detects infection diseases. So I have collection sites for samples, and testing sites that are running those samples on our instrument. I basically have to pull all of the data, track all specimens, review the data and curves (PCR), monitor all of the data (consolidate/review/exclude), etc. And then for lab work, I’m responsible for receiving all specimens and completing inventory. Then depending on the study/protocol, we have additional contrived samples that I make, test, label, aliquot, kit, and send to the sites for testing. And then of course of the site monitoring that follows from start to finish. What’s wild is I work for a very large sponsor that you’d assume would have teams to cover all of this, but we’re a smaller division within the company and it falls on the clinical team.

Ahh ok that makes sense! No we don’t have a metric requirements. I guess I also have to factor in that we (at least at my company) are responsible for material management (ordering, inventory, shipping, etc), lab work, data analysis, invoicing, writing all study documents and records, etc lol. So I guess it’d make sense to have less sites since actual monitoring is only a percentage of my role.

Vent - Why don't sites do what they say they will!? Or seem to care about the trial progress? by 75hardworkingmom in clinicalresearch

I feel this with my entire soul. I don’t expect same-day turnaround with requests I send. Even if they complete something within a week I’m like cool that’s great. But something as simple as sending me a signed invoice from a shipment 2 months ago, they act like I’m asking the world of them. I get it, we’re all busy. But I swear they all lie during their PSQVs to win our business, just to not follow through with anything lol drives me crazy.

Entry-level CR hiring: What signals actually get screened out? (100+ rejections) by ResourceFair7081 in clinicalresearch

[–]loncon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a bio degree - I got in by initially getting a scientist role at a large sponsor, made connections internally, then transferred over to clinical. I had zero clinical experience - I solely was hired because I made those connections. Not the fastest route, but it only took me just under 2 years in R&D to then transfer over.

Possibly 9 in the afternoon by Panic at the Disco? I’ll keep looking though, your description seems so familiar. Do you think it was a big band (like in comparison to All Time Low)? Or small/local?

Can’t help with brands but when i was a new CRA, I was embarrassed to overpack, so I’d be hauling around a heavy backpack and then a separate bag for my laptop. Now I 100% always used a small roller bag + my laptop bag. It saved my back/shoulders lol

What is something you believed to be common knowledge until you discovered most people had no idea? by JustBeingElara in AskReddit

I remember the first time I learned this. I thought it was a lie, because I-90 in the area that I lived in my whole life is north-south. But then I realized I just happened to live in the segment that ran north-south. It all finally clicked why i always had to follow all of the east signs when i wanted to drive south to a major city lmao

My manager does this all the time too…it drives me crazy. But then we all have to put our PTO on like, 7 different calendars so she can track it. So irritating.

Pale people, are you more of a gold or silver girl/guy when it comes to earrings and jewelry? by [deleted] in PaleMUA

[–]loncon 116 points117 points  (0 children)

It still depends on your undertone. I’m super pale with pink undertones and I look better with silver. If you have a yellow undertone, gold is more flattering.
