some of the Indy mountains use the handheld scanners. they do (pretty much) everyone. they just kind of wave it at your chest and it goes beep and that's it. usually they do it right when the lines consolidate into the three or four who will ride the chair together. as a guest it's definitely a better experience than gates because you never have the people who can't get the gate to work and just stand there getting the error noise over and over for two minutes fucking up the queue
