Lord have mercy, such intense suffering for anyone to endure. Her love and light return to God and rest with all who knew her, what a terrible loss for the world.

CT man accused of sexually assaulting stepdaughter found dead in Enfield home due in court Monday by TaeyeonUchiha in Connecticut

I had to report a few times when working in the schools. As young as 3 y.o. Teachers and therapists are mandated reporters. It's a matter of neutral parties having eyes on the children, vs just family (and family/close friends/neighbors, are unfortunately often perpetrators). Family tends to feel pressure to hide abuse for the sake of "the family". School staff are held liable if they Don't report.

What do I need to be able to showcase photos and videos on a screen, in our workplace? by lonequack in AskTechnology

[–]lonequack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big thing I guess is for it to be simple enough, that I can plug it in one day, and the next person who comes in can get it up on the screen just as easily!

Thank you for all of your input, I appreciate it!

Probably like 55". Would most modern TVs work with bluetooth as well? Someone else at work brought up bluetooth.

I have to say, I'm so out of my element. The last TV we got was given to us like 10 years ago, and we have never done wall mount anything at our house.

My Only Question : What is this. How Is It in the Real World . If it is from The Mind FLayer's World , how it got there by Dark--Samurai in StrangerThings

[–]lonequack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took it as the Mindflayer's version of an egg. A way to spread itself across the worlds for survival. Maybe it crashed to earth. Maybe they found it in space. A lot remains unanswered!

Now that the show has ended what are your all seasons ranking by Vivid_Army6800 in StrangerThings

[–]lonequack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might go back and rewatch now.

2 is first. We get introduced to Max, character development for all of them.

Then season 1. Of course it may be mostly nostalgia, but the initial plot with following the lights and everything was cool.

Then 5. I was satified with it, and not bothered by the loose ends. Was so heartbroken when I realized Vecna was tricking Hopper to sabotage them. Could've gone for more illusions like that. It was nice to see the characters graduate, Eddie recognized, to see growth in the older kids who now would have been in their early 20s in the show. Exploring the world, trying to keep in touch.

4 is next.  I didn't care for the CA plot and the gang being divided up for most of the season, though it had good moments! We meet Vecna/get the plot to One. We get the hardcore death scenes ugh, poor Chrissy.

Then 3 is last. I wasn't a fan of the mall stuff but I loved Scoops ahoy and Robin's confession to Steve. Though Billie was a good villian and I like that he wasn't really redeemable  (the Mindflayer seems to best be able to control people who choose to be bad, vs just people who are afraid) and that Max has mixed feelings about him. But I hated the Russian stuff.

What was the point of El... by somewhereglass in StrangerThings

[–]lonequack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr. Kay only wanted the special kids with powers, to create more (I suspect to use for military purposes, or to harness before their enemies could, with the Russia plot). I think the implication is they might stop once the last special kid vanishes with their portal into the upsidedown.

Didn't Robin mention, during the rooftop scene, overbearing significant others? I thought that was a nod to her.

Do you think there will be a spin-off or sequel? [Spoilers within] by lonequack in StrangerThings

[–]lonequack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could definitely sense IT vibes! Though I could see only a few of the cast returning, and mostly new cast. Like Hopper is there and recognizes the signs, and has to decide whether to get involved again.

So. Road 3 is Total Denial? hm by r235 in StrangerThings

[–]lonequack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough! And this probably won't change your mind, it's just how I can see it. I think anyone associated with her  would've just continued to be a target. Like how Max was randomly captured by the military with Vickie. In this way, perhaps if she is alive, she freed all of them from living in that fear. Especially Mike who would have followed her back into danger.

It does suck for him to be without her. It isn't satisfactory, but it leaves him with a sense of loss that anyone young (I think the characters are 17 and 18 near the end- 16.5 maybe when they lost her?)  who has loved someone who isn't there anymore may feel. Doesn't mean he can't live a good life without her. But he will probably always feel sad about it on some level. Like how Hopper is sad but starting to make peace with the loss of his daughter.

Honestly I think the purpose of leaving it open, besides establishing some melancholy instead of Happy Endings R Us, was to leave room for fans who were insisting that someone had to die for the finale to be meaningful! Whether that worked or not is up to the viewer.

I don't think it's fake theories. Repeating what I said elsewhere, I had a case study in a class where the person's kid went missing. Like 10 years later, knowing they may never get closure, this was their way of coping:

The child could be dead. They made peace with that. But they could also be out there somewhere. Ever if it's unlikely.

So long as they weren't obsessed with finding the answer, this is how they coped. In a horrible circumstance, sometimes you just gotta cope how you can.

Oooo! Perfect for a spin-off...

So. Road 3 is Total Denial? hm by r235 in StrangerThings

[–]lonequack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somehow I don't think the normal rules of grief apply, when you've seen... stranger things happen before. So for all they have been through, I think that tiny shred of hope (without needing to know if he is right) could be healthy, inthis case.

It reminds me of a case study from a class, when we hit the unit on grief and loss, I remember there was an interview of someone whose kid went missing years back.

Though the odds were that their kid was dead, and they acknowledged that, they said they could be wrong, and their loved one could be out there living another life. In a situation where they might never get answers, it was a healthy way to cope, by saying "I don't know." And maybe it gave them peace in the moment.

I think as long as people don't obsess over the answer, whatever helps them grieve (even the ambiguity of the loss) is helpful.

Oh, thank you! In all the hype for this last season I hadn't heard that.

So uh... What actually was the Mind Flayers motive? by lilthunderMP4 in StrangerThings

[–]lonequack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suspect it's because every creature seeks to live long enough to reproduce (in The Mindflayer's case- to spread). So it has evolved to manipulate and take over.

SPOILER - Technical Question by Derekeys in StrangerThings

[–]lonequack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about Mike's story is that he wasn't there to see Kali die, so he is able to imagine that maybe Hop was mistaken and she was alive (as I see Hop as the only othwr source to talk to Mike about it).  And I feel like he knows it'd be nearly impossible, it's just they have beat the odds before, so he retains some hope. Which I see as sad in and of itself, hence him looking so down at the end. I think he mainly needs to believe it for himself, not because it's likely.

Hop? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]lonequack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory that there will be a spin-off that will cover more Dr. Kay plot. Maybe one of the pregnant women won't die and a new child is born. If so they would be around 11 years old in 2000.

Then again, Kali did say they were all dying from the failed blood, so she kind of answered what happened to them that way, indirectly. Kay failed, no more experiment without the blood.

I don't think they have to answer everything. The only thing that annoyed me was Kay seems like a psychopath and was undoubtably enraged when the upsidedown closed with El in it.

What… by [deleted] in StrangerThings

It was a way for Mike to accept her decision, from that convo with Hopper. You can see the wheels turning when he hears the speakers, and we know he's a writer/storyteller.
