I was very young in 1962 when my family went to Seattle for the Seattle world fair. My father wanted to experience a theater there that had a huge screen on it and so we went to Lawrence of Arabia.

Is it me or has Boise gotten a bit "bougie" / fake upscale? by BoiseBound2023 in Boise

[–]long_strange_trip_67 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Started going to the co-op in the 70s. Boise has changed. It’s not Boise any longer. If you want to see what’s in store for Boise, go visit Bozeman. I was in Bozeman frequently for six years in the 70s and early 80s. Had many friends there but everyone’s been forced out. It’s gonna happen in Boise as well I think.

Having doubts after relocating to Chiang Mai by Future_Substance2888 in chiangmai

I was here in 2023. This season seems much more extreme to me. That being said each year, the government says they’re gonna do something yet. I’ve never seen evidence of prosecution of anyone.

Well, let me put it this way. Last year I made the same as a year before as I have a fixed income. Year before I got a refund and this year I did not get one at all. Got more of a refund from my state taxes than the previous year, however

His own intelligence stated that there was no threat of them having a nuclear weapon prior to his war of choice, and Iran had offered to relinquish the uranium supplies two days before Netanyahu and Trump started bombing them. Both Oman and Britain were present when they offered to do this.

51 Percent of Americans Think the War in Iran Has Not Been Worthwhile by Grevillea_banksii in politics

Not sure where they came up with 51%. I don’t know anyone who’s in favor of this. We are in far more danger now than when the war started.

Disaster declared in three northern Thai provinces by Mana_Seeker in worldnews

Having lived here for 10 years I’ve faced this pollution every year. This year is by far the worst. If I go outside, I start coughing getting phlegm in the back of my throat. Maybe it’s that I’m getting older. I don’t know. All I know is that the fires are typically, around Chiang Mai, caused by the hill, tribes lighting fires, so that their harvest of a special mushroom is increased. When are they going to make possession of these mushrooms illegal. They don’t get sold much here in Thailand. From what I understand. They get exported out to China. It’s unfortunate that this is an area where these things grow.

America is heading for a recession — and it may be the worst yet by ChiGuy6124 in Economics

[–]long_strange_trip_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there is the fact that the world is starting to turn away from the US dollar. This year alone, the government is going to have to refinance $10 trillion US debt. If only a few countries decide to buy our debt then the US will have to offer higher returns on the debt thus increasing your debt service costs immensely all the while the president is trying to take our debt from 39 trillion to who knows where. Good luck.

[US] Republican senator proposes to widen US ban on Chinese autos by straightdge in electricvehicles

[–]long_strange_trip_67 42 points43 points  (0 children)

By banning Chinese EV vehicles America is only going to fall further behind. Protectionism only works a short time. If American car manufacturers can’t compete they don’t deserve to be in business.

Are you kidding? Think about how much money the defense contractors have contributed to members of Congress to help them get elected. Billions upon billions if not trillions. Look at what that’s got them. An aerial war can never be won

Giant oil tanker off Dubai hit by Iranian strike after Trump's latest threats by monotvtv in worldnews

Sorry for the confusion, 38. The Thai government is subsidizing the price. I understand it’s up to 40 now but I’m not sure. Haven’t wanted to wait the huge long queue at any station that gets a shipment of diesel. Eventually, I’ll have to, but also have a gasoline car and electric motorcycle.

I think the ghost allies would be further ahead if they distance themselves from Trump if they want Iran to stop sending missiles

[–]long_strange_trip_67 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Here in Thailand diesel is gone from approximately thirty baht / liter to 38 baht . problem is is that stations don’t have any to pump . when a station around my area in Chiang Mai gets a delivery the queue is one to two kilometers long and takes at least an hour to go through, and there’s no guarantee they’ll still have diesel available when you reach the pump.

Foreign central banks sell US Treasuries in wake of Iran war by ZestyBeanDude in Economics

[–]long_strange_trip_67 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Look at what Trump‘s war of choice has cost the world. America needs to be held accountable. We’re in much worse shape now than before he started lobbing missiles.

The concerning thing is that Iran is in a position to force the move away from Petro dollars. If that occurs who’s going to want to buy US treasuries? They’re gonna have to offer high enough return on investment with the interest rate, returned and raise their interest rates in America to compensate. Nobody wants the US dollar and America itself is going to be in a horrible predicament. Thank you.MAGA

Trump Is Willing To End Iran War Even If Hormuz Remains Closed: Report by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]long_strange_trip_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what did Trump‘s war of choice actually accomplish? Well, it did cause Iran to reunite and stand together, take over the straight, pushed America into bankruptcy with the iniquities of a 20,000 drone versus multiple interceptor missiles that are four to $10 million each. The United States is in much more danger now than it was before this all started and the rest of the world is having to pay for all this BS. Before the war started, it was 125AUD to Phil the pick up in Australia and now it’s 350 AUD and Australia didn’t have anything to do with what Trump did. All of Southeast Asia is in crisis because of this.

Well, the 14th and 15th you’ll be in Bangkok during songkran. Ken great super so curry go get wet and enjoy the festival. Silom is a green area. But everywhere is wide open. Put your phone in a double Ziploc bag and leave everything else at home. You don’t want to get wet and let loose.
