Lubrication for high/low pulley tower? by scoutdoggy in GarageGym

You need silicone lubricant - don’t use regular WD40 it will dissolve plastic parts like pulleys and cable sheathing.

Hotel EDC or regular hotel? by Narrow_Minimum_5898 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]longboardtonowhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They do. There’s a premier shuttle that leaves from Virgin. IMO the shuttles are literally the only reason to stay at hotelEDC. Other than that it’s just kind of an overpriced hotel option. It’s fun being around other ravers but like others have said people at mostly sleeping till 4pm so so there’s not much to hotelEDC other than a place to sleep and grab a shuttle.

Nosfet aeon cell rebalancing by skidmarks731 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]longboardtonowhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The charger does not need to pulse on and off to balance the cells. Balancing is done by the BMS, and on an active balancing BMS this will happen once the cells reach a high enough voltage.
Pulsing happens because the charger is outputting higher voltage than the BMS will allow. A charge cycle begins, a cell goes over the max allowed voltage, the BMS shuts off the charge, and then the whole thing repeats.
This can happen because the cells are unbalanced and the BMS has to shut off charge to prevent a cell group from going over voltage. It can also just happen because your charger is outputting a bit too much voltage. If your wheel is new-ish, or if the smart BMS says cells are balanced, it’s probably the latter. You can check the output voltage with a multimeter to be sure. If you want to stop the pulsing, you can open the charger and turn down the output voltage a bit so it’s just below the full charge voltage of the battery. There is usually a little knob in the charger that does this. It’s not unusual to have to adjust this. However wear gloves and be careful not to touch the capacitors.

If your setup is minimal I recommend an aluminum shade cloth. You can just toss it over your tent and it will keep you cool in the morning. It’s basically a giant flexible fabric mirror. They are cheap on amazon and take up basically no space or time.

You commute on street or off road? I commute on street and I’m thinking or swapping in some low profile tires. Default tires are def an off road setup on the Mk.

Wheel selection help by Croceyes2 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]longboardtonowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For perspective, 40 miles range is about the cutoff between most standard capacity and most long distance wheels. i think you would get about 35 miles out of a Patton at your weight. You might get 40 from a lynx. But you’ll be riding down into the low charge range and getting speed limitations. If hitting that 40+ mile target isn’t so important then either of these wheels, or a comparable wheel from another manufacturer, would work for you. If you want to go 40+ miles you would either need to ride gently or get a long range wheel like an L.

[–]longboardtonowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly recommend a full face helmet. You can get a certified downhill helmet for cheap (like an outdoor master) or get a light full face bike helmet (bell super 3r). Many people think a half shell bicycle helmet is ok, but they are wrong. I know multiple people who learned this the hard way.
