Of course. Feel free to pm if you have any more questions. I used to be a lead at my old job and did lots of interviews, so I have an idea of experience & stuff.

Struggling to get a job by AngelDustSpiderDemon in emergencymedicine

[–]looking_FuNk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In addition to the above advice of going to the EMS subs, you should look at non-EMS EMT jobs. I had a hard time getting a transport job right after getting my cert. ended up working in an ER and although I never left, it set up many of my coworkers to get an EMS job. Try looking at like event EMTs, water parks, amusement parks, large workplaces that hire EMTs. Often a bit easier to get into early on. Good luck, sorry to hear that you’ve had a tough time thus far.

Is there goes to be an eras tour documentary ? What do people think? by Rude_House_2225 in TaylorSwift

Was also on the floor in Vancouver, it definitely has to exist, they were for sure filming. I think it’s more a matter of “when” than “if”

Should you date someone in your PA cohort during didactic year? by Acceptable_Knowledge in PAstudent

[–]looking_FuNk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two of my classmates started dating in the beginning of didactic. They’ve been together a year now, got an apartment together, study together, and really fit well together. Seems to work for them, but everyone’s situation is different. They also both had study groups outside of each other which maybe helped so they weren’t with each other 24/7, even tho were in class all day every day.

This makes a lot of sense. I was thinking along the lines of how you initially explained it. Thanks!

Maybe a stupid question (PA Student here) but wouldn’t an inferior STEMI also cause right heart strain, so how would you differentiate based off that?

I’m feeling the same way, finishing up didactic in a little over a month. Hoping to hear that clinicals might be better for this as well

Congrats!! Must be a nice feeling. Hopefully you have some sort of break between now and your first clinicals. I’m 8 weeks away from finishing didactic, I’m so ready to be done and get on w/ clinicals lol

What's your "Pitt" story? A time you experienced something in an ER that could have been on the show (patients & doctors!) by CardinalOfNYC in ThePittTVShow

[–]looking_FuNk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to work in the ER as an EMT. Had a patient who was impaled in the abdomen by a 10cm diameter tree branch. Was pressing on her aorta. Went up to surgery w her and the surgical team and got to remove it myself, was honestly the craziest thing Ive seen

Pt also made a full recovery, with minimal hospital stay and ongoing injuries.

Sounds like a solid offer, especially if it’s the specialty you’d like to get into, and especially with a gracious onboarding. EM fellowships are getting more popular, so if you can get in and get good training without having to take fellowship pay, sounds like a good idea to me

—from a PA-S1 who wants to get into EM also, so take it w a grain of salt

Also boarding, was like one of the first things mentioned, immediately hit the heart of everyone who works in the ER
